Right! While we are at it I thinks we should hold off on eating oysters cuz they look like buggers. ;)

My vape group, New England vapers, has our monthly meets at a restaurant. It's never a problem with the patrons. If someone is to get upset it is only due to an unfair stigma attached to a separate set of circumstances and vaping in these places draws attention that brings awareness which in turn educateds the unjustified angry.

Let's face it you don't want to be blowing vapor right next to another party but if you are off in a corner...

Our group converts several bystanders from time to time at our meets and if we all hide like we are doing something wrong or let others wrongly equate us with smokers people will never get it and less smokers will learn they have a choice.

Yeah, what he said!Oysters look gross, and so do people that slurp em down raw.But if that's what they want, more power to em
vape it like ya mean it

I'll comply with the law. And I'll comply with any rules the business has. If a business chooses to make a "no vaping" rule, I may choose not to do business with them, but I won't vape there if I go there.

Outside of that, I don't see anything wrong with vaping in a restaurant. If someone asks me to stop, I'll stop, because the argument isn't worth it, but I'm not going to pretend I'm smoking and that I'm only allowed to vape in places where smoking is allowed.

As a courtesy, one probably should not smoke these devices right next to people as they are eating. In a bar area or lobby I see no issue. It also depends on how much vape your generate, and how long you hold it in. However, these devices are not meant for outdoor use in conditions like rain, snow, heavy fog. On the hot days this summer, my different mods quickly lost battery power in the heat. Even with a fresh battery the vape was lighter. My friend noticed the same thing.

What if the person next to you ordered something that didn't smell good to you. Would that be bad manners also?
no it would not be, the difference is i wouldnt go a restaurant that sold nasty oysters or nasty stinking fish if knowing i would find it offensive.....that would be my choice. other patrons don't have a choice as to whether i vape or not....just because i can vape doesnt mean i should.
was kind of funny today though, my friend and i were in a local bar for lunch, they smoke so we vape....lmao one of the smokers actually said she wished we would stop because she didnt like the smell. seriously? as she was smoking she said this, my friend says and i quote, "good, i hate the smell of cigarettes, so i guess that makes us even" AWESOME comback! and in that instance, yes we did VAPE ON! i was tought to live and let live, do unto others and take no:censored:from anyone.
ya'll are gonna do what you will, i just hope we are all trying to use our manners, along with some common sense :p

have you heard of "stealth vaping". look it up...enough said.

LOL yeah when you stealth all of a sudden no one seems concerned about the smell, the effects of nicotine and all that..funny huh? If they dont see smoke (which to them gives them a license to try to contol people) it never seems to be a problem. To me if the smell and the nicotine was what was really at issue here, they would pick up on the smell and the nicotine and say something..not the case at all. Not vaping has NOTHING to do with smell or nicotine or any other such thing, it is all about the visual. I have stealth vaped in the most non-smoking of non-smoking places. NEVER ONCE has someone even said "whats that strange and disgusting smell" I dont open vape cause I dont need the drama, nor do I want to be the Rosa Parks of Vaping, but any talk of smell and nicotine is just silly. Dont believe me, try it for yourself and enjoy the silence of no one saying anything at all to you...

I dont think that there is a perfectly correct answer to the question of should we vape in reseteraunts. On one hand I am an anti-anti smoker so I can plead a good case that the only victem of my vape is someone's social conditioning and controlling nature, on the other hand I hear reasonable people makeing reasonable cases as to why such a course of action is ill advised. I will conceed that stealth vaping is anti-social. I am a VERY VERY respectful smoker (outside, downwind, etc) as I can see that people are affected (allergies etc) but I just have an issue realating to someone who I percieve only problem with vaping is that it LOOKS like something it is not. Granted the reason why people vape is that it very closley resembles smoking..so there is that. I suppose I could really plead both sides of this case (grin). Good points all.

I was at a nice restaurant a couple of months ago. I can't afford high-class stuff, but for me and my fiancee, it was nice. We sat down, ordered our drinks, and had just gotten our salads when a family came in. When Grandma walked passed us, it smelled like she hadn't showered in a month. They were out of tables, so we couldn't move. Now, she wasn't doing anything illegal. So should I have asked her to leave because I didn't like it? Or did I need to have some tact on my part and deal with it and let them enjoy their meal as a family instead of creating a scene and ruining both of our meals? That's what I did. People everywhere are going to be rude. I'm sure Grandma has probably gotten rude comments from many other people before. I know I sure wanted to. That's why I don't think there should be any issues with us vaping in public places unless stated otherwise. I normally don't even ask, as asking is an opportunity for an unsure waiter/waitress to just straight up tell you no when you probably wouldn't have had any problems. When I'm at these places, I stealth vape, right where I am. I don't sneak off to the bathroom like a child who woke up late at night to get into mommy's cookies. But I agree that it looks so much like smoking, that I don't blow out huge plumes of water vapor as if I own the place. If they can't see the vapor, they don't know what I'm doing, and usually don't say anything to me. I also vape mint (not menthol) flavors, which taste great to me, but can't be smelled unless it's blown in somebody's face. So, to each their own. Some people will refuse to do anything that would be considered slightly annoying, whether they're deathly afraid of somebody noticing their existance and would melt into the floor if somebody confronted them. Others don't give a flying flip what anybody thinks and if somebody comes up to them to tell them they're putting out more smoke than a steamboat and are vaping something that smells like roadkill, they blow it right in their face and tell them to take a long walk off a short pier. Nothing we can do about it, you are who you are, I am who I am, and smoke-haters are smoke-haters. You do what you do, and I'll do what I do. I won't tell you what to do, and you don't tell me what to do, and we'll all get along just fine ;)
