"The idea supposedly is that the nicotine is heavier than the VG or PG and so it all stays in the lungs. This is also not true as we absorb only about 1/3 to 1/2 of the nicotine in the vapor, so the rest gets expelled."

One of the studies (sorry, don't have time to look for the link right now) on the composition of vapour both pre inhalation and as exhaled showed that only one percent of the nicotine in the vapour was left in the exhalant. It also notes that the majority of the nicotine is absorbed by the membranes in the mouth, nose and throat.

"the same flavors you may use in baking except more concentrated, with out the alcohol"

There may or may not be alcohol in the flavourings, but chemically Propylene Glycol itself is a double alcohol.

When I started vaping, no one said anything about being able to smell it. It wasn't until my husband started to vape that I realized that you can smell it - he prefers flavors like 555 and Ry4 and boy, do they smell delish! Way better than cigarette smoke - although I will admit, every once in a while fresh cigarette smoke does still smell pretty good to me too. I've noticed my kids (ages 21 and 28) do a lot less complaining now that they're smelling vapors versus cigarette smoke.

Is that desert, as in hot and dry or dessert as in something you wan't seconds of. Desert-1 s because once is enough but Dessert-2 s's because you would be happy with more than one. My second grade teacher used this to teach me the difference. :D

I bought a juice called Desert. It was a tobacco blend. It actually smelled awful. I have found that most tobacco blends do leave behind an unpleasant odor specially if honey flavor has been added.

I think some people say it is just water vapor because it isn't smoke. I think the first time I heard the "It's only water vapor" was in the movie "The Tourist"

I am still fairly new to vaping. I have been using an eGo CE4 style eCig along with Desert eJuice from VaporzX. No one ever told me they could smell this when I vaped around them.

A week ago, I bought an Optimus RDA along with some RY4.

I'd guess the reason people notice the smell more is your upgrade to the RDA. Mine put out sooo much more vapor (and flavor) than a CE4, it's ridiculous. In a later post, you mentioned using the clearo for bars; I'd say that's a good plan if you're trying to cut down on second hand smells.

My S.O. can definitely tell what I've vaping from a few feet away, so I try to use flavors she likes. We look awkward at the B&M; 'blow that over toward me so I can smell it.' Throat hit is a dealbreaker for her, so she lays off the juice.

You bought a juice you thought was called Dessert?? With 'super caramel double chocolate cheesecake delight' and 'fresh strawberry cream cupcake' out there?? What did you think Dessert would taste like? :p

Maybe its just me, but I don't recall ever in my life approaching a random stranger, or even a friend or acquaintance, and spontaneously commenting on the smell of their breath ...

I think that used to be considered rudeness ...

If anyone does that to me, I will gladly give them the distance they clearly desire ...

In the context of a bar, it seems like the OP was vaping in an enclosed area, and people were smelling something vaguely sweet at the table. It doesn't seem like anyone was offended. I imagine it was like commenting on someone's cologne that's strong enough to be smelled from a few feet away.
"In a bar that allows smoking in it" makes me scratch my head, though. If anyone could smell RY4 over second hand smoke, I'm impressed. Maybe no one was really smoking?

this is just an over simplification, it is mostly water vapor
Because the philosopher's stone in your lungs converts propylene glycol and glycerol into water? Or maybe what you breathe in is scalding your lungs, causing water vapor to boil off and condense into a cloud when you exhale. No, not that either. What comes out is basically what goes in - PP and VG, and other things many people won't want to hear about. citation What's your authoritative reference for the claim it's mostly water vapor?

Water based flavorings are used, hence the water vapor explanation.
Like was mentioned, nicotine is heavier than the vapor and lands in the mouth, on the tongue, not in the air. This is also why its easier on the Vaper to fill the mouth with vapir, hold, let a touch out, inhale, then exhale. A direct inhale usually causes us to ciygh because the nucotine wasnt allowed to settle first.

Flavors are flavors. Some are steonger than others.
The vapor lessens other smells in the area because it mixes and dilutes the fragrances.

To completely understand the science of it, a scientist doc like Farsalinos, who is non biased, would have to be asked.

Desert flavors are suppose to be close to what a Camel analog cigarette tastes like and the ones I have tried so far kind of are. Kind of a Turkish tobacco taste. Not perfectly but kind of close. Here is one I am using now:

VX Brandz E-Liquid Desert Ship

When I said, "a bar that allows smoking," what I meant was outside of Chicago is a beautiful state called Illinois and it is illegal to smoke in them and other public places. Some places tell the law to go to hell which I like. It should be up to businesses instead of government. As Illinois is trying its best to pass California as the "Most Broke of the Broke", there might be an exception soon coming for bars and casinos to generate lost revenue from smokers who no longer go to them.

Not water vapor, the vapor you're exhaling is either vegetable glycerin, propylene glycol, or a combination of both and with some flavorings thrown into the mix. Not all juices smell on the exhale. Depends on what flavorings were used, and at what percentage they were mixed at. Since I started mixing my own, I've been mixing at no more than 10% flavor and have noticed my exhales aren't smelly. I'm also only using natural flavorings, nothing artificial. The artificial flavorings smell and taste stronger IMHO.
