I don't know about this vaping thing, it's getting out of hand.

Ahh, yes....the dreaded shinyitis!!! It took me all of about 5 days to start looking at upgrading after I got started (mainly because my Halo Triton isn't a 510 and I couldn't find adaptors...wanted pyrex clearos). Four months later, I haven't stopped yet...or even slowed down! Which prompted this thread:
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...iscussion/564262-i-must-quit-reading-ecf.html

By the end of the week that I posted that thread, I had placed 11 vape mail orders of various sizes in under 2 weeks!!! Beware of all the video reviews, "Best Of"s threads, Going out of business and holiday sales!!! Shinyitis is a _____!!! ;) This is probably why the vaping industry took in an estimated $200,000,000 in 2013!! Vape On, friends!!! :vapor:

I have been vaping for 3 months now and saved about 200 bucks vs analogs. I also started with a pair of triton twists and and two tanks, not realizing as a newbie that I really wanted a 510 ego style battery. So know I just ordered an MVP2 and Kanger Protank 3. I'm going to get them in tomorrow, but I already want an rda or hh.357 or nautilus or........ I'm glad I'm not alone and am going to try and set a monthly budget / order limit. I think I will try rebuilding my pt3 coils for a while before I splurge on shiny stuff.

Hello all yall.

Backstory:
About 20 years of smoking at least a pack a day.

Fri Jan 10th 2014, drank beer, smoked cigarettes and researched vaping products online for a serious attempt to quit smoking.

Sat Jan 11th at 11:40AM smoked my last analog cig on my way to a vape shop. Spent $130ish for an itazte svd, kanger protank II, couple 18650 batteries, i2 intellicharger and 30ml of 18mg nic juice. Vaped a lot, kept nicotine in check and didn't have cravings for an analog.

Protank II wasn't cutting it. Tank was too small. Had to refill it too often. Ok, got me an Aspire Nautilus. 5ml tank and adjustable airflow. sweet. unfortunately the sweet tobacco juice that I like, gunked and killed my coils in 3-4 days. Went thru some 15 coils in two months. Not good.

Ok, so coils weren't lasting... Got me a kayfun clone (actually two of them) and started building my coils, maybe they would last longer, less tank capacity, but carried two kayfuns, two flavors, I was liking it. Then oops poor build, coil came out at 1.2 ohms. itazte svd wouldn't fire. Whattt? ohm's law, who was that guy? get out. Do more research.

Aha... I needed a mechanical mod. A brass stringray... hmm, throw in a brass kraken tank on top for good looks. played with the kayfuns on the stringray and also really liked a dual stainless steel wire wick with ekowool sock and 4-5 wraps of 26/28 gauge kanthal on the kraken. it was fantabulous. couple weeks go by, and I broke the glass on the kraken.

back to kayfuns while waiting for replacement glass to arrive from china. the mechanical was eating up my batteries, must be all the subohm coils I was wrapping up. I blame that Ohm guy. Okay, so I need bigger batteries... what 26650, oh yeah baby... oh those also require a bigger mech. Say welcome to my Hades mod. Ok, so now it's the hades with an rda. 26gauge dual parallel coil about 6 wraps. around 0.3 ohms... vapes like a beast, flavor is intense and eats batteries fast. it's good, but not perfect. Going thru about 10ml of 6mg nic juice per day. This is starting to cost about as much as smoking did. I guess I need to start making my own juice too now... *sigh*

...and now I got my eyes on a 120w raptor chip box mod...

I've been vaping 5 months, and all that crazyness that you just read... I'm not a kid anymore, grown up 45yr old. why? what? Is there an end to this? Is this normal? where did my marbles go?

Peace.

Lol the "gottahaves" can be as tough to kick as those analogs but I'm sure you can do it"

I am so far in the hole right now that it's going to take me about half a year to dig out. IF I quit buying stuff. And that's probably happening. Of course I went on vacation with the family last week and played hide and seek up and down the stairs of a 7 floor condo building with the kids and didn't feel like I wanted to die. So yeah, worth.every.cent.

who said we'd save money quitting smoking??*lol*

I just think of the money in prescription steroids and nebulizer meds that I don't have to buy anymore (I had the flu at Thanksgiving, that bad one, H1N1/w pneumonia, we had friends die from it so my lungs have been crap since) but yeah..

All Aboard Crazy Train is leaving the station!! *lol*

OP, for this reason, I have confirmed my wife's suspicion of me having an obsessive personality. My wife and I started vaping on May 1st, smoked our last analogs on May 2nd, and after 1 month of using an evod starter kit, my wife and I upgraded to itaste vv v3's with mini protank 3's. Now after another month we are about to upgrade to Kayfun light plus v2's and the Nemesis. I research this stuff constantly and think about how I want to vape. My wife an I are flavor junkies and are chasing after what can give us the best flavor.

Wow, either the majority of you guys are nuts or I am just lame. I am still using the same SVD I bought a year ago. I have two of each tank that Innokin makes w/ exception to the 16's and two atomizers for dripping.
I am amassing a decent selection of juices but that's about it.
I have considered moving up to a KF light and might move up to a Provari when the new version hits the shelves but its hard to spend the money when what I have just....works.

It doesn't really matter how far down the rabbit hole you go. What does matter is that it keeps you off analogs. Vaping equipment will always be a better investment over analogs, at the end of the day you will still have your equipment instead of a full ashtray. Even though my wife and I have only been vaping for a couple of months and have upgraded, we have paid our starter stuff forward to get our friends and families off analogs. For the most part, nearly every vaper will do the same, lend out or give the equipment they don't use anymore to help someone else out.

LOL. Can totally relate. We've been vaping a few years now - and every time we go to buy replacement items, everything has been upgraded. NOthing is the same. Have to research new atty's, etc. The only thing that has remained the same is the battery and charger. The first year or two was really expensive. Why tried 401's, 501's, 901's, and a bunch of things I can't remember. At least now, they are more reliable and work better.

On the serious side, it does get better. Once you find what you like and you make your own juice, it averages about $11 a month (at least for us). That compares to the current price of $440 for two smokers a month, averaging a carton a week each. But, we make our own juice and don't add flavors anymore.

My journey began with a simple Ego battery and an Evod tank. That worked for a while, dual user at times, but it cut the analogs down. Then ventured to different tanks, nothing seemed to be what I wanted/needed. Others have good luck with ProTanks, I didn't. I tried them all. Finally I got an Ego twist and an SVT Nova top coil. That worked well for a while, started feeling the discouragment again. Ordered an eVic (simply for the USB charging and a road trip was coming up). That worked well with the SVT Novas. Then I bought an Igo L single coil dripper. Started building coils. Now it all went downhill... well uphill for happiness. :D In less than a month, I got 4 different drippers, an iTaste 134, and a Nemesis clone. Nothing beats having a good rotation of reliable mods and drippers, and a good rotation of flavors! When I spend $30 on something, I just think to myself "I would have spent that in a week on smokes." and then it is all ok in my mind! :vapor:Oh and I DIY my own juice, but still buy good vendor juices as well.

My neighbor now has my old Ego twist, but he is waiting to find someone to give it to since he has also bought an iTaste 134 and a Stingray mech within his first month vaping. He vapes 0mg nic, and never has smoked analogs, just wanted to replace his hookah habit. No need to go to the local hookah bars, he can now just sit on one of our back decks and enjoy his clouds! He just enjoys the flavors I have let him try, now he is hooked.
