I don't know about this vaping thing, it's getting out of hand.

I just about bought one of everything (j/k) so now I am done except for liquids.

My REO or Sigelei Zmax V3 with an R91 are with me every day. I build so all I need is wire and cotton.

You'll find what works and the quest will end. I would build though because in the long run you get what you want when you want it. It is also much cheaper then buying crappy pre-made coils.

Good luck and congrats on getting this far!

PS. I've spent waaaaay too much money on vaping gear, but thanks to high taxes on tobacco, I'm still saving money. I'm saving for the next point on my list of "do-want": 350 dollars for a custom made e-pipe. But hey, that's one months worth of tobacco ;)

I bought all kinds of tanks in the first month to figure out what I liked. Started with a Provari mini that I still use.

I've given all but one of the pre-made coil tanks to my brother. Kept two KFL+V2s.

Local vape shop ordered an sx350 chip. I'm going to build a mod with it. I just like to tinker, but my provari with KFL is what I will vape with.

Hawaii, but now in cold Illinois
I love vaping & have been for 8 months, but I have some reservations:

It took me a while (and cash) to find what worked for me initially. I finally realized mini protank 3 + ego battery was simple and effective. It worked flawlessly. I had many issues with flooding/leaked juice because I took off the "rubber" on the coils, thinking it was just protection for the coil. After finding out that I needed it, things got better.

Now here's where I'm at:

I own a mechanical mod (kinda) The Bolt from SmokTech. I own a cheap knockoff RDA, with 28 ga coils and organic cotton. Took me forever to get that to work. I also own a mini protank 3 and mini protank 2, which I use for most of my vaping. Ego-T battery and iTaste VV V3.0. I just ordered a Provari Mini with money I should be spending on a new couch (oops :D).

My sentiments on juices: I haven't found anything worth an all day vape. Fruit flavors were my thing at first, but now I find them a sensory and taste overload. They are too sweet and I get sick of them. Bakery style vapes are the same. I read Virgin Vapors had light tasting vapes, so I tried them out. They were lighter, but now too light. I've come to the realization that fruits/bakery vapes aren't for me. I hated the only menthol flavor, so I'm moving on to tobacco. I just don't know if the juices are going to be enough to keep me vaping. Ironically, I tried the V2 (beginners kit) and I liked those flavors much more: Grape, Green Tea, Vanilla, and Cola. But these don't taste as good in my clearomizers (ironically).

So I've joined this forum to get more opinions and advice on how to make this an all day thing to avoid chewing tobacco again. Just ordered from Mother's Milk and Milk & Honey to see if the creamy vapes will help.

Long winded, but anted to get this out there!

Ugh I have never been this obsessed about anything, ever. I spend so much time reading about vape gear and watching videos. I am pretty sure I made my last purchase this weekend, though. For a carbon fiber mod. I am set after this, I have about 3 months of juice and everything else I need.

Well, I should get some more Ekowool and also I wanted to try a lower resistance wire. I want a Delrin drip tip with SS accents too, and maybe it would be nice to have a 16mm setup to take to the store... STOP!

I really don't want to add my purchases up, but it's pushing $1k in 3 mos. Although my snus habit would have been over $500 for the same period and $850 if I still smoked...

I feel your pain, I originally started vaping to get off the cancer sticks, be healthier and hopefully save money since I was 2 packs a days (not to mention what I spent while at the store picking up smokes).

I think I am finally leveling off and fighting the urge to spend more money on things I don't really need. I already have 3 mechs, 4 KFL+, 1 Tesla vv/vw. DNA30 mod, 2 RDA's and another mech on the way.... not to mention tons of parts, spare tanks.. etc to rebuild any portion of the Kayfun. Oh and juice... lots and lots of juice and batteries.

I think I finally happy with what I have and don't feel the need to try anything else. There are some things I would like, but honestly it's not going to improve the enjoyment.

Unless something breaks or I run out of juice, I think I am done buying for now... unless somebody runs a group buy for a 26650 mod with battery. :?:

Haha, OP (& everyone) I so feel your pain.... and gain! Loved your opening post btw.
Speaking of huge 26650 mods, Despraci, Right after I excitedly jumped on the new aerotank giant for my BAM that I bought last year, I felt safe with satisfaction & ventured over to YouTube. OMG! Why oh why did I do that?! This morning a new 26650 hybrid is on it's way to my door lol. Oh Lordy how hubby wants to disown me. He rolled his eyes when I mentioned how good I've been about refraining before this. Another plus to me, is the fact that the RDA topper is so huge it'll be a cinch to coil as my eyes get older. He still rolled his eyes. I might need counseling or an ambulance, he hasn't decided yet.

Hello all yall.

Backstory:
About 20 years of smoking at least a pack a day.

Fri Jan 10th 2014, drank beer, smoked cigarettes and researched vaping products online for a serious attempt to quit smoking.

Sat Jan 11th at 11:40AM smoked my last analog cig on my way to a vape shop. Spent $130ish for an itazte svd, kanger protank II, couple 18650 batteries, i2 intellicharger and 30ml of 18mg nic juice. Vaped a lot, kept nicotine in check and didn't have cravings for an analog.

Protank II wasn't cutting it. Tank was too small. Had to refill it too often. Ok, got me an Aspire Nautilus. 5ml tank and adjustable airflow. sweet. unfortunately the sweet tobacco juice that I like, gunked and killed my coils in 3-4 days. Went thru some 15 coils in two months. Not good.

Ok, so coils weren't lasting... Got me a kayfun clone (actually two of them) and started building my coils, maybe they would last longer, less tank capacity, but carried two kayfuns, two flavors, I was liking it. Then oops poor build, coil came out at 1.2 ohms. itazte svd wouldn't fire. Whattt? ohm's law, who was that guy? get out. Do more research.

Aha... I needed a mechanical mod. A brass stringray... hmm, throw in a brass kraken tank on top for good looks. played with the kayfuns on the stringray and also really liked a dual stainless steel wire wick with ekowool sock and 4-5 wraps of 26/28 gauge kanthal on the kraken. it was fantabulous. couple weeks go by, and I broke the glass on the kraken.

back to kayfuns while waiting for replacement glass to arrive from china. the mechanical was eating up my batteries, must be all the subohm coils I was wrapping up. I blame that Ohm guy. Okay, so I need bigger batteries... what 26650, oh yeah baby... oh those also require a bigger mech. Say welcome to my Hades mod. Ok, so now it's the hades with an rda. 26gauge dual parallel coil about 6 wraps. around 0.3 ohms... vapes like a beast, flavor is intense and eats batteries fast. it's good, but not perfect. Going thru about 10ml of 6mg nic juice per day. This is starting to cost about as much as smoking did. I guess I need to start making my own juice too now... *sigh*

...and now I got my eyes on a 120w raptor chip box mod...

I've been vaping 5 months, and all that crazyness that you just read... I'm not a kid anymore, grown up 45yr old. why? what? Is there an end to this? Is this normal? where did my marbles go?

Peace.

I'm very happy with my e-LVT & Russian 91% at 8W. I'm planning on building a mod just for the fun of it really.
I clean my coil every 2 days and put fresh cotton in it because I want good flavor. If I see a problem with the coil, I'll build a new one and put it on. You can't expect a wick & coil to burn for a week and still have good flavor, that's just unrealistic.
I began coil building in my Innokin iClear XI because the replacement heads were junk. I built a single coil & put it in the hole farthest away from the rubber grommet.
The Kayfun & Russian is much easier.:)

You can see from that picture how nasty coils get. A nasty coil will also pull your batteries down faster also because it has to heat all that gunk. That's why I clean my coils every 2 days and put a fresh cotton wick in it.:2cool:
The date is wrong in the coil pic because I forgot to update the date in my digital microscope.

I am really lucky that the Hcigar Helmsman was sold out everywhere last night, with the exception of the overpriced ones on eBay. I had the urge to have a 26650 and 26650 Kayfun on my desk during the work day. I don't really NEED it, but... it be nice to have. I love my nemesis and with the Helmsman being almost identical design... just bigger, I don't know how much longer I can fit the urge. I am soon going to have to put parental locks on my router just to keep myself from impulse buying during the night.

That's so funny, I found them on ebay last night for $40 and almost pulled the trigger. It's good to know it wasn't just me!

It's a good looking mech!
