Hello, forum! I quit a 17 year, pack-and-a-half to two pack a day habit two weeks ago and I haven't had a cigarette since then. That's the longest I've gone without a cigarette since I was 19 years old (35 now), and I don't even miss them. I'd been thinking about quitting for years but it was such a huge part of my routine. Part of me thought that I'd never be able to quit. A few years ago I bought an nJoy cig alike kit from a convenience store, mainly to supplement my smoking and hopefully, smoke less. However, those cig alikes weren't very satisfying and they didn't taste great. So I continued to smoke. Then a year ago I was in a local head shop that had a huge selection of vaporizers. I could tell that the tech had moved forward quite a bit, so I decided to pick up a starter kit with a 900mAh battery, clearomizer, charger, and carrying case. Again, my hope was to use it to supplement my tobacco habit and smoke less.

That first vape worked pretty well. It was actually satisfying and tasty, but kind of a pain. The tank always seemed to end up with juice clogs and it would gurgle and not hit very well unless I fussed with it for a while. But I did use it occasionally, and I liked it well enough, but I was still smoking. I thought that cigarettes were just easier to deal with. Then two weeks ago I went to a local shop to get a new tank because all of my old ones had cracked. While there, I saw that they had 1100mAh ego C-Twists for $25. I thought "well here we go again" and bought the ego along with a new evod tank. I puffed on it on the way home and I was extremely pleased. It was a definite upgrade from what I had been using. I thought to myself that if I didn't buy any cigarettes for about two days, the ego would essentially pay for itself. That led to a bit of additional math and that's when I realized what I was spending on cigarettes. More than $100 per week! Almost $500 per month! This actually made me angry. I couldn't believe how much I was spending on a dirty, nasty, dangerous habit that I'd grown to find only marginally enjoyable. I mean, I was seriously mad. Something in my brain "clicked" and I knew right then that there was no way I was ever going to but another pack of cigarettes.

Two days later I bought an MVPII and a Protank 2 (along with an aerobase), and that's when I knew for sure I was done smoking. This is soo much more enjoyable than smoking, and I no longer smell like an ashtray. I love these little devices and the seemingly endless flavor options. I wanted to learn more so I started soaking up as much info as I could. I found some great vape communities on reddit and I have read many, many threads here, as well. I am solidly hooked. I am now planning on getting into RBAs and RDAs. I most definitely have an interest in building a mechanical mod. I plan on learning to make my own juice. I've been bitten hard by the vaping bug, and I'm thrilled! In addition to no longer smoking, I have a fun and interesting new hobby. I'm excited! So hello ECF! I'll see you all around the forums.

TL/DR; Quit smoking, started vaping, became a bit obsessed. :D

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

Welcome aboard JT, what part of FL are you in?.
Hi HMarv! I'm in Sarasota.

Congrats!!! Lol, haven't heard the phrase Jiveturkey in years. Quite a formidable insult at the time.
Yeah, I always think of the movie "Semi-Pro" with Will Ferrel when I hear it. I think it suits me

I started off the same way. I'm 19 now, I was smoking since I was 17, but I smoked 2 packs a day... Bought a HotVapes Torpedo twist 900, quit for a month, bought a iTaste SVD, crapped out on me, so then I bought my first Mech Mod. The Panzer. I loved it, quit smoking. Now I'm running a IPV2 with a Mutation X. The Hot Vapes store near my house has 15$ off coupons everytime you spend 100$ over the time of your purchases, today I had asked the guy if he could check all my transactions to see how much I've spent... Well, with everything (Mods, tanks, Kanthal, liquid, batteries, chargers) I've spent 600$ so far.

And with that being said, I'll happily drop another 600$ for the simple fact that for me, this is no longer trying to quit smoking, yet a hobby. Chasing clouds, best flavor, better builds to make batteries last.

Everything is fun, and I'm excited to say that this is a turning point in my life.

Congrats. Now put your savings to work for you on the new hobby. Look at the high-end mods. The Provari 3 is on the horizon and the new evolv chip (DNA50?) should be be hitting the market soon. There are also the REO and redsky bottom feeders. Use your savings and treat yourself. You spent $500 a month killing yourself with cig's now spend $500 a month for six months saving your life. That should give you a couple of grand to get the shinyitis out of your system. If you own the best, you will not feel the need to upgrade as much and will probably save money over the years. I recommend this approach to anyone that was spending money like you were on cigarettes.

My last suggestion is try dripping before loading up on expensive mods. The bottom feeders replicate dripping and are supposed to be the end all be all for taste and vape production, with a small hit on convenience over RTA's.
