So yesterday we went to the fair and before entering saw a sign that said "smoke and vapor free environment". I really don't understand that for one it's outside and it's gonna dissipate quickly.. I can understand the no smoking but no vaping really? Anyway I followed the rules and then walking back to the car afterwards I took a nice hit off my mod and didn't realize there was a bunch of people right behind me. The vapor goes flying in their direction and they freak out like it's (OTHER STUFF) or something even though it smells like friggin bananas. (1. We were outside of the fair, 2. These girls that flipped out looked to be around 19 or 20) I'm just ranting I know, but has anyone else had this type of issue?

The usual hysterics from the ignorant.

I don't complain when my neighbour has a bbq or when people smoke outside walking to their cars, and in the same casual fashion i am quite happy to vape when i stroll about and i find episodes of fake choking and imagined asthma attacks in the open air risible.

Which is not to say that i go out of my way to annoy people, but that vaping in public is, or ought to be the least of anyone's worries.

Dealing with that issue daily. YMWV and keep in mind if they dont see the device, they assume its smoke. I do. Cause where I live people smoke a lot of analogs and its more "tolerated."

There is also lots of flavors out there that will drive people up a wall. Regardless of how little you think its smells, etc. I've had to nix several that I like in favor of keeping the peace with my coworkers. Oddly enough all of them will tolerate any analog smoke without complaint ... cultural adaptation. This is still (relatively speaking) extremely new territory, regardless of how close it may come to being like "smoking."

The school campuses and other major groups have, for the most part, already inlcuded new language regarding "vaping" in their guidelines. Now they just need to upgrade their signs I guess to brag about being more than just "smoke free" .... Man that sign is gonna be a long read ....

People do freak out due to the unknown, that is one of the reasons for vape bans. Our job as vapers is to try to polity educate people on the subject. While I personally do not have an issue with smoking and vaping are bans, I really think that they should also ban spitting chewing tobacco juice as well (as an ex smoker I would rather get a face full of cig smoke in high wind over a spray of spit and tobacco juice...).

I just hate it when people are so ignorant and don't even care to see or smell what your doing. And most people are completely unreasonable with it, you can tell them everything that goes into it and they still think it's gonna hurt them. There's one lady at work that got vaping banned in the office because she threw a huge fit because it would harm her baby in her stomach.. I feel it will be hard to get people to change their minds and realize the benefits to vaping. Even people on the smoke deck (that's where we have to go to vape now) get all upset when the wind blows the cloud in their direction and they're sitting there smoking analogs. It's just ridiculous in my eyes.

Might as well put up a "Flatulence-free environment" sign while they are at it... same logic for restricting vaping. Oh, maybe a "Burp-free" and "Sneeze-free" sign too.

I can see it now...

2020 Local News Broadcast: Man arrested yesterday at a local restaurant for Code Violation 24450, also known as flatulence. The Order was quick to arrive on scene and subdue the offender. As per Order Code 177, he will go to trial and judged by the Supreme Order. With the latest Order Code 260498AB in effect, he will most likely be sentenced to torture followed by the death of his family. So, remember, OBEY THE ORDER! ... later, woman steps over painted line and gets shot on sight... more at 11!

I'm in Jersey so in this nanny state everything and anything is basically banned in public parks or just in public in general lol... And the people, well let me not even start, ok I will, they are just as worse as these politician passing knew jerk reaction laws. I was vaping outside a starbucks and manager comes to me tells me to stop smoking since this is a smoke free zone and people were complaining. No one complained and had a bunch of smokers as me what I was doing.. any ways, I look at the manager and say well thank god i'm not smoking and killing myself, couple of people who over heard me started laughing, Showed him my Mod and he said wells its still smoking so I need you to stop or leave. I chose to leave, but this is the cliff note version. So yes I do agree with you on some people.

I would have had to say something about them being drama queens.

smoke can smell like (OTHER STUFF)...you may as well install a 3rd eye in your forehead to get people to understand what we do. I do what I can to educate people. Vaping in public is wrought with problems...

I'm in Canada and I've vaped almost everywhere outside and never had that happen. I was at a rib roast and concert last weekend, a no smoking event but nothing about e-cigs was posted. I took a eGo, a clearo and some 60%PG juice which is about the most PG I can handle. At home I vape mechanical mods and rebuildables that put out clouds but I don't take that gear with me if I know I will be vaping among a lot of people.

I was vaping just outside the concert seating area in a pathway and had one concerned parent ask me what was in 'that thing'. I carry cards with that information and urls to more info on them and gave her one while I explained. When she left she was OK with it and thanked me for explaining it to her.

IMO a lot depends on how we handle it when people react. I'm sure one day I'll run into someone who will not care what I have to say, but that's OK too. You can only help people who are open to it. In the meantime when someone does react to my vape, which is quite rare, unless I'm in a real hurry I approach them, talk to them and give them a card. It's working for me up here so far.

I was at a Gay Pride march and someone threw a tear gas canister into the the crowd, hitting a number of people, including a baby. I've had friends beaten and shot for being gay. Every single time I hear this crud I think of all the men and women who've been beaten, arrested, killed and sometimes even executed by the state for being brave enough to love another human being.

So many of these arguments by the panickers sound just like gay bashing. "We need to make it (keep it) illegal. It's hurting our children. You shouldn't be doing that in public! Oh, it's ok as long as you don't let anyone see you doing it. That's so dangerous! Think of all the people who've died because of x disease."

If I'm not hurting anyone else, they can go jump off a bridge. That'll protect the children from their idiocy.

Even if vaping were as harmful to me as analogs, as long as it doesn't hurt anyone else, it's none of their business. Just like alcohol or chocolate.
