I started with a KGO kit from Hoosier.

Went to Denver on Vacation and spent $120 in assorted kanger knockoffs (BAD) - VapeOnly BCC's, Dekang flavors (some ok!) - House blends, etc, at VaporLeaf (Have a website, great people!)

Since then, I've purchased a ZmaxV2 from my local brick and mortar for online prices, ($110ish with kit and charger), but I'm buying juice from them at $5.95/10ml. Wind up hating the juice, buying 5-6 new Smok Vivi tanks (Can never have too many, and this is before I learned I could easily clean them with hot water and a dry burn - plus I've ordered about a dozen replacements from Hoosier).

I've dropped another $150 in assorted juices, adapters, drip tips, etc at another local store to get my mom away from her 2 pack a day habit - I've probably spent close to $400-$450, maybe more (but I hope not) Since I started this journey the last week of February. In this time I've only bought 2 packs of analogs - as I'm going through and extremely rough patch in life (losing house, kids, divorce, etc...you understand I'm sure) - but I'm happy!

I think I'm going to sell my ZMax and maybe drop back down to a VV KGO/EGO - I feel like it's more than I need at this point....but then I start looking at some of the new smoke RSST RBA's that Phil reviewed and I just gotta have it for home use!!!

What to do!!! I'm out of control, I'll never break even - even with a $5.00 pack a day habit!!!!

HELP!!! :confused::laugh:

Definitely get into rba's you will be floored at how a little tinkering can produce so much sweet sweet vapor

Yeah, I also feel like I can save a boatload of cash too utilizing these at home and keeping some small and "workable" when I'm at work, etc.

Just gotta find one in stock!!!

Also, Does anyone know where that Google-Docs page is at that helps you calculate your purchases and how much you've saved?

I feel the same way. I bought a setup from B&M Vapor 9 about a month ago. And being myself I of course bought backup everything. The original setups I bought leaked and really wasn't going to do it. So before heading north again I dropped in there maybe a week and a half ago & they had completely different products. So, bought another completely different setup with backups of course. Its frustrating. I really don't want to tinker much & I'm already over $300 in to it.

You might be surprised... at $5 a day you're not really all that far from breaking even, and a big initial investment seems pretty common for most. You've gone from a pack a day to 2 packs in 6 weeks and you've figured out some things you like and some you don't AND you're working towards getting yo momma to get off the stinkies too. Sounds like money well spent to me :)

Don't give up, it'll become more cost effective than cigarettes eventually.

Thanks guys - it's not always about the money I guess - I just feel a little stupid for jumping off the cliff to get a huge VV/VW mod that I really don't need 4 weeks into my vaping career, and tons of liquid I hate, LOL!

But yes, hopefully I can help my mom - she's cut her analog consumption on a normal day by 30%-40% - which to me, is huge!

Anyone have any good reasonably priced/obtained Juice recommendations that work in Poly tanks?

Thanks again everyone and I look forward to being a supportive and constructive part of ECF.

I'll be diving into VV and big battery mods as soon as I can swing the investment and I'm just starting week two in vaping. I've got plans so far for gear that'll run upwards of $1K if I had my way. LOL That said, having an assortment of juices is never a bad thing. You may find yourself introducing a smoker to vaping and they may find one of the juices you hate to be their favorite. You may also find that a few weeks down the road a juice you dislike becomes very good in a different delivery system. That said, as long as you are not damaging your financial stability and are otherwise being financially responsible, then you shouldn't be overly concerned about being out of control. The fact that you may be feeling a bit that way may be your own warning signs to slow down and play with what you have for a while before making any more investments. ;)

Now as far as juices go, there are several I have found that are pretty good and I'd recommend. Some are a bit on the sweet side, but all in all, I think they taste great. Somebody else may hate them though as flavor is pretty much a personal opinion. vaperite.com has a flavor called "Madagascar Vanilla Tobacco" that is outstanding in my book. It is a 50/50 pg/vg mix and I prefer to use it in an Atty vs tanking it. I also like Volcano's Kona Coffee mix and their Full Flavor Tobacco mix. Vaperite also has a 2x Butterscotch flavor that is very good, IMHO. But I am still searching for other flavors as well. Good luck on finding the right flavor for you and enjoy the hobby as much as anything else. :)

I think what you're going through is the norm. I bought quite a few things until I found my go to pv. Now my obsession has turned to juice. I have a few that I love but I just can't help but buy more. But I think that's the nature of the beast. You have to go through some trial & error to find what works for you.

Mt baker vapor has good prices on juice & I've found some that I like. I'd try looking there. I tend to get at least 1 extra flavor shot on everything. I like their cinnamon roll, banana gone nuts & butterscotch. I have others steeping but those are flavors ill definitely buy again! Hope this helps!

p.s. let the juices you have now steep for a little while. In a couple of weeks you might find that you like them

I'm in the same boat as you. Bought a ZMax and then an RSST after seeing that awesome review. Don't worry, when you finally find a setup that you like you will (hopefully) begin to spend less.

Where did you locate the RSST? Any info on how you did the initial burn in on the coil, you didn't use the zmax did you? They always recommend a mech mod - but IDK if I'm really wanting to drop money on a natural, or a bolt or something like that if I can help it, lol.

How is it working for you, btw?

I'm pretty excited about it all TBH.

I've got the following from Mt. Baker and looking to try more, most all got an extra shot or 2 which I think in the future I will forgo until I get a feel for the juice in it's natural state:

555 Menthol - at first I didn't care for it, but after steeping it's not too bad - maybe a touch more menthol that I'd like so I'm going to add some traditional tabac or RY4 to it
Ecto-Cooler - Everyone talks about this (or is it ecto plasma?) - anyways, had to get cartos for this and those honestly didn't agree with me too much - though I will be trying them again. Very strong throat hit.
Cotton Candy - Very sweet, somewhat "dull" - will be using this to sweeten some of my more "tart" juices.
Thug Juice - I thought I'd love this, but vaping without steeping was a bad idea - too perfumy and kind of turned me off
Mint chocolate - Tough to call - only dripped in an atomizer.

Still looking to order some more from mt baker - was pleased with the price - but I also want to try some of the "top of the line" stuff that everyone raves about.

The fact that you may be feeling a bit that way may be your own warning signs to slow down and play with what you have for a while before making any more investments. ;)

Well said my friend! :toast:

counting from the start of february (and converted to us $) I've spent just under 500 (I think... hard to keep track...) most of wish was spent on stuff that I have yet to see. (expecting Vapemail-galore towards the end of the mounth)
But like others have said before me, a dime spent on not smoking, is a dime well spent.
Welcome to the vapers team.

Yup, I feel the same way. I did the same thing... going out and buying all kinds of stuff right off the bat, spending tons of money. However, I'm beginning to finally feel satisfied with the hardware I have, so I actually think I can stop buying stuff now... except for the juices... then again, I may get into DIY. The last piece of hardware I really want is a very nice mechanical mod... along the lines of a JM22, Caravela, or Mankos... something like that. I won't buy it though... I'm going to ask my machinist brother to make one for me when I move back to Hawaii.

Ok, So I used the fantastic GoogleDoc sheet created by DISCO https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=5&ved=0CE0QFjAE&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.e-cigarette-forum.com%2Fforum%2Fblogs%2Fdisconnect%2F3690-handy-dandy-google-sheet.html&ei=HGJjUcSiFqKFywHLqYC4CQ&usg=AFQjCNEfjxOgKbuNSUE82N0hj9II4jmNDQ&sig2=OMzNd0zRNl5is-cmNuDNOQ&bvm=bv.44770516,d.aWc

So far, not counting what my G/F contributed to the cause, and INCLUDING what I paid for my moms kit *which I will get 50% back from her*, I'm at about $491 if I've remembered everything.

I suggest everyone play with this sheet as it's pretty awesome and calculates your break even date and really puts things into perspective. I may have missed something here or there, but I think for the most part I've included everything. For everyone trying to get started, You could download all of your online banking data to an excel sheet and organize your purchases that way, or even easier - search for your order confirmations/receipts in your email box.

If you've got a smartphone, you can just update immediately. It even calculates your break even date, and can account for the things you might have sold (Really considering selling my ZMaxV2 once I can get into the classifieds.

Anyways you may not WANT to know what you're spending but I definitely do - I understand juice is a consumable and soon enough I'll get to where I'm only buying juice if I'm not at that point right now - Currently according to my sheet, at a pack a day, at roughly $.5.20 a pack per day - with a slightly adjusted (delayed) quit date to possibly counter any of the money I may have paid out of pocket for our big purchase in Denver.....I broke even once (on 3/25) after ordering my first kgo kit on 2/25 - my current break even date is 6/10/2013 and will only go deeper as I continue to buy juice.

But you know what? I'm OK WITH THAT BECAUSE I'M NOT SPENDING MONEY NOR AM I SMOKING! (ok, full disclosure I've probably had 1 or 2 analogs a week and I haven't finished one in a while).

Anyways, if anyone needs any help with calculating this, I'm happy to help.

Thanks for listening guys, I appreciate it!
Daniel

I took things in baby steps, starting with the V2 Cig-a-like and pre-filled cartos. Moved up to using clearos and buying juice. Decided that the 3 batteries I bought just weren't cutting it for me, so upgraded to the Ego twist, which I also ended up buying 3 of (one is an etched K series I bought as a fluff piece), and while these are nice and I still plan on using for work and on the go, I just purchased a Vamo for home use. Now looking to get into RBAs and tanks.

So while at first I seemed to be spending just as much if not more on my new hobby... this month after paying all my bills, I will have nearly a whole paycheck that can go into the bank, or maybe into another Mod (Ok maybe not quite yet). Before with my PaD+ habit I was constantly living payday to payday.

Also a huge fan of Mt. Baker juices, out of the 36 flavors I currently have I think more than half are from them and plan on re-ordering some in larger bottles (Bananas gone nuts, and Caramel Coffee for sure) and trying more of their flavors.
