I have been reading ECF for a couple of weeks, after my Ophthamologist told me that cigarette smoke was aggrivating my Iritis. He told me vaping would be better due to it just being vapor. I didn't have the slightest idea what vaping was. So after finding ECF through Google. I've been constantly reading the forums for the last couple of weeks. I finally went today and bought 2 Joyetech ego twists 1000 mah each, 1 mini protank-2, 2 CE-4 what-cha-ma-callits came with the twists along with a usb & ac charger.

I was a Pack a day smoker, so I'm hoping this will work. I picked up some e-juice from Pink Spot Vapors. I don't know anybody that vapes, (this is Vegas majority of people I see smoke cigarettes). So right now I have just been watching you tube videos and trying to learn how and what to do by reading the forums.

I'm not having any problems as of yet, (it's only been a couple of hours) but I just thought I would stop and say "Hello":)

Congrats & Welcome to ECF!

Glad to hear from someone where a real doctor recommended vaping as an alternative to smoking. There are many success testimonials here, but few where a doctor has input into the decision.

You've started well in having an extra device, 1000mah is much better than what's sold at convenience stores, many are 650mah & are very low quality. 1000mah will get most, except the demanding chain vapors, through the day, for awhile anyway. My 1100mah ego device is still working, but doesn't hold a charge as long as it once did, however it's been in use for 6+ months now & I only have one.

My other mod, an Astro clone, was purchased nearly 2 months later in January.

Anyway, I'm proud of your accomplishment & just take it one day at a time. One final thing that I'd like to point out, if you're finding yourself with an urge for an analog often, step up the nic in your e-juice. I started out at 18mg, but had to go to 24mg to lose the desire for nasty analogs forever. It's critical to get enough nic, especially if one's a long time smoker.

Drop by, should you need us at anytime.

All the Best,
Cat

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome!!

Well, I made it through the first day. I smoked 2 cigarettes, one right before I got ready to leave for work & one when I got home. I only have a half a pack left, and I said when they are gone I am not buying anymore. I'm hoping that I will wake up and won't have urge for a cigarette really soon. I'm vaping 18 mg, it seems to be ok.

Now I can't seem to stop looking at more things to buy. I hope to buy a mvp shine in the next couple of weeks. But I have already ordered 2 more mini protank-2's. My next purchase is to hit up a couple of places on line that have sample packs for ejuice, because what I am finding out is Pink Spot Vapors is not all that, or maybe it is just the flavors I got.

The only flavor from Pink Spot I really liked was Riptide. That was one of the first 2 juices I purchased and it's still an okay flavor. There are far better out there.....Nicoticket and Five Pawns come to mind. Mt. Baker Vaper has a wide variety and not very expensive. Could take awhile to find some that just "do it" for you.
Good luck on the search and welcome to ECF.

As stated above, the juice search for me and my wife was the most difficult part of the vaping experience. It's a slightly costly trial and error process we all have to go thru. We are just over three months since our last cig (we both quit the morning we bought our brand new car. That was our motivation!). Once you find your go-to juice, you've definitely got it licked!

Don't be discouraged. Read, watch youtube videos, and above all, just keep telling yourself that it's less expensive and more importantly healthier than smoking!

So far my 3 favorite juices have been one from a local B&M tobacco shop, Nicoticket, and Johnson's Creek, the makers of the juice that's used in Blu. Blu cigs are junk, but they have nice juice in them. So I like Rainier, from Johnson's Creek, which tastes like Blu cherry crush, The Virus, from Nicoticket, and a Berry Pomegranate from a local B&M store. Every person's taste is different. Either way, they all taste better than Cigarettes!

Good Luck!!!!!

Congrats on the switch! Don't sweat the few you will have in making the switch. I've been vaping exclusively for the last 3-3.5 months now, that first week I think I had 6 or 7, same thing, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening..... then a funny thing happened, and I tossed all the cig making (roll-your-own) gear. The funny thing.... that cigarette I loved so much, the flavor I was looking for in an e-juice... suddenly it tasted like S*** and I opted for the good tasting vape from that day on:) On your (pink spot vaper not all that).... 2 places I like the juice from is Volcano e-cigs and Mount Baker if that'll help you looking. As far as the gear, a ProTank2 with air control really helped me with the transition, let me dial the draw in to what I was used to having. I've since moved on to Kayfun's on the eVic, but as another said earlier in here, I think looking back, the MVP2 would have saved me a lot of "experimenting cash". :-/ LOL Good Luck!!!

Well, I've gone 48 hours without a cigarette:D. I have a half a pack in the garage, I just have not smoked any. That is the longest I have ever went without smoking. I did take one of the wicks out of my mini protank-2 today, hoping I could get a better flavor from Pink Spot's Watermelon Wave. I did figure out that it taste like a Watermelon Jolly Rancher...I have always hated jolly ranchers, not enough flavor!! So that probably explains why I don't like that flavor.

Everybody said I would hate those CE-4's that came with my starter kit, but I actually like the draw on them better than the mini protank. The protank has a airy draw to it. I need something with a tighter draw, maybe I'll get used to it...I don't know:unsure:...

A lot of people like the CE4s but they tend to be quite iffy as far as quality. Some work great and others, not so much. Also, the CE4s have polycarbonate tanks and there are several different types of juice flavors that will etch and then crack them.

If you have a ProTank II or III mini you can use the Kanger Airflow Control Valve . It will look a bit big but will allow you adjust the airflow.

You can also get the new KANGER AEROTANK MINI 1.5 OHM - 1.3ML that comes with an infinitely adjustable air flow. I have one of those and found that the flavor is better than the previous ProTanks.

You can adjust the airflow by just blocking one of the four holes in the skirt. But my colleague did that and got leaks and gurgles. The lower airflow leads to a higher vacuum around the wicks and draws more liquid. The fix for that would be to increase the power level to vaporise the extra liquid, but that isn't an option with a simple battery.

One of the vapers on the Nicoticket thread is from Vegas. She did mention that some of the shops in Vegas are pretty expensive compared to online so I am glad to see you are ordering rather than shopping the more expensive B&Ms there. I am sure there are some good stores but I don't know what they are to recommend. If you visit our lil home base, her name is Nakifantaki and she knows her way around Vegas...she is a paramedic on a boo boo bus!

I went through so many bottles of juice when I started vaping. I did learn that I would never find the perfect replacement tobacco. I stumbled on to Nicoticket in my first month or so and I have never looked back. That isn't to say that I don't buy juice from other vendors, but, for the most part, I do stick with Nicoticket. Give them a try. The prices are reasonable and I think you will be pleased.

I have also had luck with EC Blends...some of their juices have really hit for me. I love the Dragon's Cafe....coffee/cream and tiny bit of sweet. I have heard they have some trouble with consistency, but I have always gotten good results with re-orders.

As far as sampling juices, holiday sales are great times to try new stuff. That is what I do. I browse shops online, sign up for their newsletters (I started an email account just for vaping stuffs! I am addicted...love to vape) and watch for the half off sales etc. In addition, I just started doing the facebook thing. Yep, you guessed it, I started another FB account for vaping so my RL friends would not be inundated with this stuff. Soooo many contests for free juice and free gear! I try to spend some time each week doing the giveaway thing and browsing their shops.

Didn't mean to get this long winded. I hope you love vaping half as much as I do. Just hit my one year mark a bit ago and I am never looking back. If you want to try Nicoticket, click my banner. If you buy something that you don't like, there is a very real chance someone on their forum thread will buy it off you! Their juices are snapped up when they show up in the classies.

OK, just one more thing. If you have a Vape Fest in your city (and I know Vegas has at least one coming up), GO! I just went to the one here in Denver...not huge but great fun. Lots of very friendly people, lots of help building coils, setting up mechs, mods etc. and so many free samples! I only accepted the ones I thought I might like and I came home with over 200ml of juice. Some of them are great! I even bought three bottles of juice after trying them. And they were like 50% off.

In addition, one vendor (one of my favorite local B&Ms) was having 'flash' sales. Again, I got over $500 in vape gear (mostly mechanical mods...some clones, some authentic) for $5 and $10 each...spent about $50 on the gear. That was a huge win for me.

I worry about the new regulations in the making by FDA etc. I want mechanical mods for the simplicity and now I have enough stuff to last forever. I will buy more and sell some off but I really am set. Until I see the next bright shiny that I want.

These vape meets are awesome places to see equipment and sample juice. I cannot recommend them more highly, especially for anyone new to the scene. And it is a blast to hang with fellow vapers!

Be well, vape on and enjoy your new 'hobby'!
