I got my Joye 510 in the mail today.
Let me tell you, the ladies at Cignot definitely have it together! I ordered this puppy midday Friday, and received it today. I wasn't expecting it for another couple days!

I'm very excited to try out my new toy. I'm really, truly hoping vaping is the thing for me.

On another note, it's impossible to explain the whole thing to my family. 8-o
They support me one hundred percent in this endeavor, but looking at Blu's website let them to believe that a cartridge of juice is worth many more 'analogues' (regarding nicotine...) than they actually are.

They also don't understand the amount of 'hardware' and 'software' (juiiiiice) needed. My brother, the wonderful boy who lent me money to purchase my PV, seemed to be under the impression that a PV doesn't require much upkeep.

Has anyone else had family who were incredibly uninformed about the whole thing?
It wouldn't be so bad if they would take my word for it, or do the research themselves. :(

I want to give my 510 a go. :)

Hi hsm! You could try explaining to them is that the information stated on some websites is intended to SELL the particular product, but isn't actually accurate. Explain to them that you've researched further than the advertisements and show them a few threads here on the forum. There are many threads where people talk about how much they "vape" to satisfy their nicotine cravings, how successful so many of us have been at quitting smoking because vaping has worked for us, and threads talking about how long a cartridge lasts for them, etc.

Also, you are using a 510 - not a Blu, they are different animals and don't perform the same. What they are reading about as far as the Blu is not going to be what is true for you, or you using your 510.

It's all new to them, give them some time and try to educate them with everything you learn here on the boards.

Have you seen this thread?

That may be a good place to start :) Good Luck!!

Welcome, please don't let us stop you. Have at it!

You will like the 510, it is the most reliable and trustworthy PV I have.
Did you get a bottle of juice with your order? Sometimes the prefilled carts are not very good, but nonetheless you are on your way.

Misinformed? How about totally unaware!!! Tried to explain it to my mom, impossible by phone/email. sent her a few youtube links and had a dse901 sent to her for her birthday. She's starting to like it. It's never too late even for a perfectly healthy 74yo lifetime smoker to start vaping.

Oops!

Thanks for posting that thread link. :) Was wondering why it tasted real funny - didn't blow the primer out properly!

Hehe. I love it. :D My starpuffs juice is quite delicious, now that I've got my atty cleaned out.

The frustrating thing is, they both really wanted me to give this a shot, to quit smoking. I'm the only smoker in my household, they think I smell and worry about my health. I've only been smoking for about five years, but the fact that I enjoy it makes it hard to quit.

They understand my addictive personality though, and are all around supportive. Their questions just wear my brain down.

Hopefully my PV will be my new bestie. :)

Nonsmokers truely do not understand the addiction to cigarettes. The typical comment is "why don't you just quit?". When it comes to ecigs there is even less understanding. I myself thought they were some type of scam until I ran into someone with 1 at a party.

It is unfortunate that there are so many sites out there offering false information to try to snag newbies and in many ways this "new" technology produced in China is still evolving and qualitity control is shakey. I have seen batteries, chargers and attys all fail within days of purchase. There are great vendors out there that try to handle these and I actually wonder how they deal with all the defective products that are returned to them.

lol...Combine all this and people not seeking an alternative to the analog addiction would naturally think that you may be insane.

like the armadillo, my mom is just north of you in Palm Harbor and has one living in her garden. You are right, I've seen a lot of posts here about first purchases being discouraging, from cost to claims of one cartidge equalling almost a pack of cigs. Right now we are at the mercy of the Chinese, only american products I've seen are battery mods and juice. But I wonder if the juice is only blended in America and not manufactured. As soon as the gov decides what it will do about e-cigs, our free enterprise system is rightfully apprehensive about full fledged manufacturing. Hopefully I have not strayed too off topic for the forum.
