I can't for the life of me understand how ex-smokers who quit cold-turkey can get high and mighty about something like this.

Regardless of how we did it, both parties are healthier because of quitting analogs.
I would think a bit of camaraderie would be there, but from things I've read on these forums, that is far from the case.

I posted the petition link to my FB page too...knowing full well that my online friends and family there are all non-smokers (with a couple of ex-smokers thrown in the mix). I said something to the effect "even if this doesn't effect you directly, it might be very important to the life of someone you know and care about. Please sign the petition". I didn't expect any real response, and they all lived up to my expectations. At least they didn't post ignorant drivel. The only "response" I got was from my hubby. He's a vaper, and he signed the petition and "liked" my post.

Sigh.

He came around a little bit, I don't see him daily since he moved to AZ, he's now back in Oregon, but we dont get together anymore. This is the latest:

Nick: All I know is that since I switched to digital instead of analog (electronic vs lighter) I can smell again, I can actually run a mile w/o feeling like I'm dying. Overall I feel better now than I did with cigarettes.

Anonymous Friend: Perfect!!! Your getting all of the rewards of not smoking, but you are still addicted to nicotine.... Nick, I've always considered you a little brother to me, I am jut showing you that you committed to these e-cigs instead of smoking. Why not put that same energy and effort into quitting Nicotine all together.....
It's easy switch, if you believe you can do it. I chewed 1lb a day of sunflower seeds, that helped allot. Also take it one day at a time. You make it through one day, what's so hard about another... And so on.. You can do it, I believe in you.

I've lost count of how many smokers who quit "cold turkey" turn into vitriolic, judgmental, patronizing jerks. They are the worst when it comes to pushing anti-smoking regulations, waving their hands around and making fake coughing noises if your smoke wafts anywhere near them, and looking down their noses at smokers like they are scum of the earth. When I quit I vowed I would never become a nasty creature like I'd seen many ex-smokers become. It's downright embarrassing how too many of them act.

Well yeah, that is more what I would expect from a friend. I gotta tell you, I am ADHD, and I need nicotine in my life to think. I do understand what he is saying, I really do. I am hopelessly dependent on caffeine and nicotine at this point. My alternative is getting some doctor to put me on Adderol or Ritalin or whatever. I prefer what I am doing.

I am glad he has softened his delivery, and I get his delivery if you have a big/little brother thing working. Certainly the support is easier to see in the last post.

I may be naive, but I don't see why people go crazy over the feeling that a person should be free of all addictions.

If you enjoy vaping, and nicotine is only marginally bad for you, what's the harm in living your life that way.

When I announced that I had finally quit smoking on facebook, I did have a couple people congratulate me and then quickly interject "Now you just need to ween off that too!" I enjoy the act of vaping, I enjoy my nicotine and I will continue to enjoy my "addiction" until I see fit to quit. If I'm not harming myself or others I don't see the issue.

I'm also addicted to caffeine. I don't see them jumping down my throat when I order a Dr. Pepper.

Thing is we really aren't anymore, he's a friend, I like to BS with him. But I guarantee if we hung out and I pulled out my cigarettes he wouldn't say anything, but since I have an E-Cig, it's an isssue?
