to the OP: there really is something terribly REFRESHING and charming about your post, I loved reading it. :)

I made a good sammich tonight too:

6oz 99% lean turkey burger seasoned with berber spice, cooked in a pan with grapeseed oil
Sliced Asiago cheese and Garlic/Artichoke spread on Ezekiel bread, toasted

Good stuff. I couldn't eat four, because I ran out of turkey :(

Sounds kinda how I eat.

For the member who is going low carb.......I found a fabulous bread, made by deland bakery in florida. It is 100% millet bread. YOU WILL NOT GAIN WEIGHT on this. I started getting it due to gluten sensitivity, and have yet not figured out HOW to make gluten free bread w/out eggs or something to hold it together, but this one has no dairy, no gluten, no sugar, no wheat......just basically millet and yeast and water.

I found out about it from my organic vegetable farmer here, having tried every gluten free bread in the universe, and they all are very "cake-like" which to me is nasty. This millet bread is light, and it tastes good. I rarely was eating bread due to watching my figure......but I have been able to eat this with no problems. I was missing sandwiches!

Not sure I would, or could, eat mayo and bologna, all that fat would make my gall bladder go nuts, but try this millet bread.

The F-4 is one of the prettiest planes ever!
I know a former Luftwaffe (60's-80's) pilot that has a used ejection seat from an F-104 (another beautiful plane) in his backyard. The AF let him take after it saved him from a low-altitude "incident"...
He won't sell it to me.

Hypnophone, 10 years ago I would've disagreed with the F-4 being a pretty plane....The USAF nicknamed it double ugly, and it hold true to that name, however, there is something pretty about. It's big, it's loud, it's smokey, it's just an awesome airplane.

I'm glad to hear your friend survived his ejection. The F-104 and F-4 had the same seats in them. The air force is generally pretty good about that stuff. It ruins the seat when they eject with it, and it saves them money from having to scrap it.

oh, and for the bologna sammich: i always either fry the bologna or pop in the micro if im pressed for time AKA ultra hungry. cooking it makes it explode with flavor. plus you can melt the cheese right on there while youre at it. and you gotta go mustard + pickles. as much as i love tangy zips, i leave that for the bird and/or fish sammiches.

What is Ezekiel bread? I tried ground turkey once... Once.
Me likey bread. Carbs are good for ya!

Ezekiel bread is a low GI, sprouted grain bread. Zero flour and its delicious, you can get it at Fairway or some healthfood stores. Pick some up! It's about $4.50/loaf.

Me too, l miss bread, pasta & pizza, this was what I was brought up on.
I did low carb for almost a year, and it worked extremely well for me.

Bread was the hardest thing to deal with.
Followed by fruits other than melons and berries.

Back in the day they made stuff for low carb diets, like low carb pasta.
That really, really helped.

We even made low carb pizzas, with special bread we picked up from a Mediterranean market.
And bacon, sausage, and eggs for breakfast never really got old either.
:)

As for bread, we had to go with low carb tortillas.
That did get somewhat old after awhile, but it was better than nothing.

Nowadays, the low carb products are gone, even though the diet was solid and still works.

After being on the low carb diet for so long, my cholesterol was fantastic.
I had a decent bad cholesterol reading, but my good cholesterol readings were off the charts!

Lol, 6 pages in 7 days on a bologna and cheese sandwich.
I could do 6 pages on Kraft macaroni and cheese with tuna fish.
Probably the best food in the world.
:)

But kielbasa is a solid choice if you don't have tuna fish.
And even hot dogs, in a pinch.
:D

Seriously though, you could probably put anything in Kraft macaroni and cheese and have a feast.
It's just that good.
