Twice I saw tonight people trying to sell USED cartomizers.

They where honest about it by telling potential buyers they have used them and refilled them.

The cartomizers used to be sold in packs sealed in foil.
Now they are sold in a little carton box.
Anyone can use a cartomizer, put the plastic lids back on and sell them for new.

That REALLY worries me with the flu going around.

Steve can you come up with a different type of packaging?

This is truly scarry and troublesome.

Ewwww! Where did you see that? Just for those of you who I have sent cartos - they have NEVER touched my lips lol! I have a cup that I put cartos if I take a puff or two and decide I am not in the mood for that flavor - I keep my new cartos totally separate... and I know that those I have swapped with have shown me the same courtesy. I guess that is why it is best to swap with people you know and trust.

Not really anything to worry about emberl so long as people know they are used and take proper procautions such as soaking in pure grain or maybe boiling it or even adding a few drops of bleach to the hot water and then rinsing! I am guessing people want these to refill and since getting blanks is so hard or expensive this is something that is bound to happen! Especially since V4L cartos some in color coded and with what is in it written on the outside plus the strengths! Of course I definately would not vape somethig someone sent me who I did not expressly trust I am assuming that if I bought used cartos this is what they would be for and what I would do with them ( I am hopeing this is what those people are doing too)!

Oh jenjen I did not think you would do that.
I have sold cartomizers, and would never even thin selling used ones.
Once used, they are gone in the trash.

There are two offers right now in the classified page.

We need to come up with some kind of seal once that cartomizers has been opened.

Same as a bottle of aspirin or ketsjup.

This just really turns my stomach.

I know you weren't pointing the finger at me lol! Just wanted to reassure people that any cartos from me were brand spanking new! ;)

I have never seen anything like that, I will have to go take a peek. I guess again, the important thing is only getting cartos from people you trust. I don't think I would ever buy cartos in the classified, but would trade with people I know from this forum.

If they're in good shape, I'd buy 'em. I clean with grain alcohol, so I wouldn't worry much. The big question I'd have is how many times they've already been refilled.

Really?
I have about a hundred of them, never refilled them, just tossed them in a pile.

It never crossed my mind people would buy them used.

When I go to a party or cookout, I bring new cartomizers because people want to try them out, I throw them away after 10 puffs.

Maybe I'm just weird.....
It's like using a used kleenex.

Just my 2 cents, but I don't think it's Steve's responsibility at all to think of alternate packaging for the cartomizers.

You're absolutely right, Steve is not responsible at all.

It's just a concern to me.

The cartos used to be packed in a sealed container, not so anymore.
Wonder why?

Buying anything used is a risk. Most people know of the risks they are taking.
It goes from used cloths to cookware to cars.
Anything used is a risk.

Now I can understand its a supply and demand for blank carts. Which we all understand. I personally wouldn't buy a used cart. But that is just me. I'm a germa phob. Not a major one but I am one.

But for those people who do buy them. As long as they take proper precautions they should be fine.
Swine flu only lives about 8 hours on solid surfaces. Most virus's do not live outside the body for long.

well it would definately be gross if people were not cleaning them, thats for sure!
YUCK! :(
to me they are more like containers, so if you sterilize them they should be good to go!
I always sterilize mine just for my own use just incase I was sick or because of germs and what not, never really gave anyone any that were not brand new myself , even just to try, but I had no qualms taking them home, cleaning them, and reusing them. Of course I only let my friends or family use them so far. Some people are alot more liberal and share cigarettes, drinks and worse :( so I guess to each their own. And as Andy says you wouldn't exactly knwo how many times they had used or refilled them so I probably wouldn't be one of the masses rushing to buy used cartos myself :p
On a side note even the blank cartos I bought from vapornine were not sealed so I do not know maybe it depends on the manufacturer?

I don't think that I could ever bring myself to by a used cartomizer! I am just too paranoid with issues concerning hepatitis, bacterial meningitis, and H1N1. New and blank carts just aren't really that expensive to have to buy used carts and take that risk. Even buying strictly through V4L, I spend around $150 and I am good for a month or so and that's for two of us. I used to spend $200 a month easy on smokes for two people.

what ryguy said hits home! yep you save so much money anyways and I just buy the carts I like and then reuse them myself. I don't think I would ever buy them used :( Don't really see the need too and I definately wouldn't sell mine ( like mine too much myself :p )
but of course there is always gonna be someone who will buy anything and as we all know almost everything can be had for sale somewhere :( I do however have some dryer lint and a nifty invisible bridge if anyone wants them Hehe!
