It's very very frustrating for me today. I was driving to work and i'm vaping in the car and suddenly a policeman stop me. Then i ask him, what am i doing wrong? He ask for my PV then search the car. He stopped me because he thinks i'm on drug. So 3 PV, my juice, carto's and tank confiscated. Then i need to drive to the police station and a urine test need to be conduct. After checking my urine and they found that i'm clean, they say that they cannot give back my stuff as this is not legal and not being approved by some government body.So they mention that they will send to a relevant body to check for safety issue, what's is inside the liquid and more bs after that. A lost of almost 600usd after converting from my money. Lucky i have spare's in my house but now i'm afraid to vape outside from my house. Anyone has a similar thing happen before?

:(

Did they show you a law that forbids electronic cigarettes, or did they just say that they weren't approved by some government agency? There's a difference. Lots of things aren't made legal by law, but they aren't illegal. Is there a low against ecigs in your country?

I'd use the cheapest ecig I could outside my home and save the good hardware for vaping inside my house. Carry only a small, labeled bottle in your pocket so that you don't lose your larger supplies if you get stopped. That's really a tough situation. Looks like someone got themselves a nice, new ecig at your expense.

That's the thing no letter just only words..but they give me a letter that the are taking all the stuff due to all sorts of reasons. I've been vaping outside for more than a year and i have vaping with police presents like in a coffee house or food courts..Just not my lucky day today, i guess.. No law have been said of banning or illegal of what so ever in my country.. Contacting my lawyer to see if anything can be done to get all my stuff back.

Yup the sad part, maybe now they are vaping and no idea what the hell is that.. owh man.. thanks for the advise, next time only small amount of stuff for me in case it happen again

Not sure how authoritative or up-to-date this is, but: Is The Electronic Cigarette Illegal? | Electronic Cigarette101

Australia and Hong Kong, Jordan, Singapore and Thailand are the few countries in the world that have completely outlawed the possession and sale of nicotine e-cigarettes. Other countries, like Austria, Denmark, Malaysia and New Zealand, have placed restrictions on nicotine cartridges. In these countries, nicotine is considered to be a medicinal product.

WOW. I would've oinked @ him. JK!!!!

I always wonder if cops who aren't familiar with e-cigarettes would want to do something like that. Guess my guess is right. Well, why not keep your proof of purchase, original box in your glove box so you can show him? Think of it as an extension of registration ;) Also, doesn't your e-liquid bottle have a label with ingredients that the officer could have read??

I think the odds of this happening again are slim to none, chalk it up to a little bad luck...sorry that had to happen but don't let it stop you from enjoying your e-cigs on a daily basis.

Hope you have a better day! ;)

So sad to hear this.
I thought vaping is allowed in Malaysia, have seen e-cigs being sold in malaysia malls.
So why is the police (or rather Polis) harrassing you?

I am from Singapore and can only vape in secrecy. When i do vape outside of my house, it is usually when my vehicle is moving.

They stop selling last year in the mall i think not sure when. Now i dont see any analog look alike selling in malls. Well at that point of time my car was moving.. he pass by slowly then he look at me.. then he flash the lights and start pulling me over..Well i guess i need to beware and smoke in doors more that outdoor i guess

The closest I've had to that, what right after they passed a law to ban the use of cell phones while driving here in Oregon. I was driving at night and using my PV (a super mini with a blue tip at the time) and I got pulled over because a cop saw the light and thought I was using my cell phone.

I showed the officer my PV, and pointed out that my cell phone was firmly mounted in a holder next to my BT enabled stereo, and that was that. The cop actually laughed a bit when he realized he'd been so wrong.

All up in your grill..
Oh really? I would like to hear how the police extort money from you.

Here's a good read:

Government Property Seizures out of Control

Although it's not really extortion so much as it is armed robbery.

Some interesting stats to ponder can be found here:

Asset forfeiture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

To save you some trouble I will highlight the pertinent info below:

The United States Marshals Service is responsible for managing and disposing of properties seized and forfeited by Department of Justice agencies. It currently manages around $1 billion worth of property. The United States Treasury Department is responsible for managing and disposing of properties seized by Treasury agencies. The goal of both programs is to maximize the net return from seized property by selling at auctions and to the private sector and then using the property and proceeds for law enforcement purposes.
A form of asset forfeiture is roadside forfeiture during a vehicle stop. Usually enforcing State policies by Highway police, local law enforcement have built up seized funds and spent them with oversight only from local judges who sometimes benefit from the expenditures of such funds. The presumption is that travelers hiding large amounts of cash are transporting drug money. Often, the vehicle occupants are required to simply sign a waiver that they will leave the State and not return, thus also not attempt to retrieve their funds. Some complain that this is law enforcement action requires more oversight in order to minimize the impact on travelers who are not involved in drug money but who simply wish to avoid further involvement with law enforcement agents and sign the waiver anyway. Sen. John Whitmire, D-Houston, chair of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee is investigating the Tenaha, Texas Police seizures scandal.

You may be ok with government ruling over every tiny little aspect of our lives and charging us for the priveledge. I am not. My tax dollars pay those salaries and I want a :censored: refund.

The local pd ran over and killed a guy on a bicycle here last year. The cop was speeding. He did not have his flashers or siren on and was not headed to a call. When it got to court the maslaughter charge was reduced to reckless driving. He got a $250 fine. A man who commited no crime is DEAD.

Love that justice system. It rocks if you are a cop.
