I used to love my Nautilus tanks but after 2 weeks of use I keep getting a burnt taste. I found by reading lots of posts on lots of forums that I am not alone.
I have done everything from changing out coils to soaking before use to priming them. I have tipped and sucked to get lots of bubbles. I have filled full, half full and 1/3 full.
I have replaced the spring in the base. I have played with did different volts and watts.
Does anyone have any other tricks or tips???

I am back to my Areotanks which I love, I just wanted a bigger tank.

Maybe I should just give up and get rid of them and try the Aerotank Megas that recently came out.
Help!

Well yes, I have a tip, but you have to have the right DNA sequence to pull it off, and as it would seem most do not. It's a genesis RBA wicked with SS mesh. Even some of the best known reviewers on YT cannot pull it off, and only a very small number of vapers ever master it. The vast majority can't even come close to getting it right. They can't all be ......ed, so I put it down to genetics. You could give it a shot, and if it's not your ballgame there's always the cotton thing with rest of the flock.

Thanks, but unfortunately I have crippled hands from arthritis, so I can't build. Lord knows I tried.
That should be ideal.

Oh crap, I'm so sorry to hear that! There must be some solution for you, I know there are pre-built coils and wicks out there. If anyone should have that available it's you. Best of luck, I hope you find a way to work it out..

If you are happy with the aerotank stick with it. Once you find something that works for you and is easy to maintain it's time to stock up. Sure keep trying new things but only as long as you have what works. I am still using vivi novas from 2 years ago and rebuilding. Learn how and you will save. Every new thing I see has 12 or 15 dollar heads that can't be rebuilt. Give me a break when I spend more on ecigs than cigarettes I will know I've lost my mind

I've had great luck with the Nautilus. Important notes are 1) don't tighten the tank too tight. The rubber seal keeps it from leaking and it doesn't need to be completely tight. 2). High VG needs smaller holes, high pg needs larger holes. 3) dry hits you need to close to a smaller air hole or you have vapor lock. Unscrew the tank until you get a few bubbles.

I don't use my Carto tanks much, but when I do, I'm glad I have them.
Boge F-16 with 1.8ohm XL laser punched cartos.
They hold plenty of liquid, are simple to refill with a proper fill tool and with lighter e-liquids will last several tank fills.
Pricing is comparable to replacing Tank heads maybe a bit cheaper.
Flavor is excellent and Vapor is respectable.

Better than Clearomizers, not quite as good as a Kayfun.

I've been happy with my Nautilus but I think the Aerotanks especially the new mega head as well as the old PT3 heads may be better. I can relate to the hand issure have a touch of Arthritis and I have to wear a mag visor to see what I'm doing. Before canning the Nautilus you use high VG juice that will affect flavor IMO. Moving to higher PG juice could help that. When you put in a new head try lower wattage for a bit. Alcohol soaks and Dry burns may help the old heads.
If you feel you have to try a diff mfg give the Aerotanks a shot if you get a Aerotank Mega or Protank 3 you can use all three versions of heads the PT3 head the Aerotank head and the Mega head. The reviews on the Mega head are good. I'm waiting on some for me to try right now i'm using PT3 heads and regular Aerotank heads. Frankly I like them all need to take all them some day and do a side by side study. OH one other note I think Nautilus had a bad batch of heads so you may want to try buying some from a diff vendor and ask if they have had any issues with those heads.

sounds like you're a candidate for the new "Giant" aerotank...

I'm a noob in the same boat. Have two nautilus and 1 aerotank. Lots of dry hits and burnt tastes from the nautilus. The aerotank has been problem free thus far. When I get a dry hit I can cover the hole and suck and it's good for a bit, sometimes I get in the routine of just doing that every 5 or so hits. Agree on the smaller holes for thicker juice. Feels like 3 dollar head lottery with a 10% chance of winning.

I bought a 5 pack from a B&M. What are my chances of trading 5 barely used in for new ones?

I'm 3 weeks smoke free and will order my first rebuildable soon. Just need these to get me through this time and have something reliable during the learning process, backups for issues, and perhaps grab and goes sometimes. I do like having 3 tanks going for switching flavors.

but yeah, nautilus has been a let down. When it's wicking well wooHooo, but lately that's been rare. Seems like the two theories are either the wicks cut too short or the wicking holes need to be slightly further from the base. Wish I could tell for sure in the store before going through the hassle. Those holes are pretty tiny, and for a noob just learning the hole pressure thing and how these works seems like a delicate balance and a lot going on with those holes to be big enough especially for such varying juice thickness and needing to let air in one direction and juice in the other. The kanger coils are very different in that aspect.

Hey dgraves, question regarding one of your tips...I'm having problems with my nautilus not connecting with anything unless I back it way off once tightened. Did I overtighten it one time and mess something "fixable" up????? I hate to trash this unit, it is performing exceptionally well besides the fact that Im having connectivity issues!!!! Any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

eta...after re-reading your post, you meant don't overtighten the tank to itself, I was referring to tightening the tank on to the battery.....can you offer anything??? thanks,

Thanks guys, I have pretty much done everything mentioned here.
Including buying coils from different vendors.

It is like someone said, went they hit woo Hoo! But when they don't, they suck.
I was hoping there was a new tip or trick I haven't tried but so far, not :(.

I think It's time to sell them in the classies I think and get me a couple Aerotank Megas :)

Thanks everyone for your advice!

I had the same issue with mine as well then I tryed punching an extra hole in the head with a carto punch this has completely removed any dry hits even when chain vapeing. And I have no issues with flooding so you might want to try it hope it helps.
