Alright I just ordered a Vamo 5 and a Kayfun lite (Clone I believe) from fast tech.

I have not ordered the batteries yet, because I don't know what type of batteries to use in the Vamo. I understand you can use 1 18350 or stack 2 18350 or a single 18650. What my question is, what kind of battery (Ex. Flat Top or Button Top). I have done some research on the subject and on all the forums there are people that say Flat Top and People that say Button top, and there are people that say they have issues with both types working.

What type is the Vamo 5 actually designed for?

Also I heard fast tech is not a great place to get batteries from since they are held in customs for a prolonged period of time.

Please Verify Stacking before attempting.
It is known some Vamos DO NOT accept stacking and will damage the circuit board.

As to Battery type - Safe purchase choices are Efest and AW as top choices. These are safer chemistry and well proven in the Vaping world. Purchase your batteries from a reputable US Vender. Possibly a Forum supplier. A slight savings is not worth the risk in the long run.

^ what he said ^

I short circuited my brand new Vamo a while back stacking 18350 batteries. (never again!)

As for batteries I to would suggest AW 18350 & 18650 batteries. Button top or flat top should be fine...

Re-read the above LEDBETTER122... in particular, in bold. It's been established that many, if not most, of the batteries sold from China vendors, and some US vendors may be re-marked forgeries - in particular, the most popular from AW, Efest, Panasonic, Orbitron and Sony.

"Known good" US battery vendors are: RTD Vapor (see Exile's link) and Lighthound... a well known flashlight vendor. There may be others, but we'll start with these and other members can add their known good dealers.

Go to Orbtronics in Fla. Wonderful company to do business with and really know their stuff... Not an e-Cig co. per se but very knowledgable and quick to respond to any inquiries... my :2c:

RTD is a good choice, they also have a variety of chargers. I have bought Efest from VaporAlley, Crystal Clear Vaping, and MyVaporStore without problem. Places like Ebay can be hit and miss, like State O' Flux posted, the most popular and well known batteries are often counterfeited and even well meaning resellers can be taken in. Amazon can also be buyer beware for the same reasons. Avoid the batteries with the word "fire" in their name.

As for chargers, Xtar and Nitecore come to mind. Again caution is needed, with the Nitecore make sure it is at least a V2, the V1 had some problems with the U.S. electrical system causing it to overcharge.

Button top or Flat top work in my V2, I normally use flat top.

Another Question "Sorry off topic of batteries", But I have been reading alot about the vamo threading being an issue. I already ordered an Airflow Controller to prevent any stripping. Is this really an issue I need to be worrying about or are these people doing everything but using channel locks to tighten on their tanks?

When I stripped my Vamo was when a RDA was already screwed down on my Vamo snug, I then put my top cap on but the airflow hole wasnt lined up right in front of my coil. So I tried "spinning" the top cap on the RDA to try to get the airflow hole to move a little to line up with the coil, and instead of the top cap "spinning" it stripped the threads.
