You can never know everything and even though I have been vaping for more than two months and experimenting with DIY e-juice for almost as long, I'm still reading and learning new things here every single day.
A good thing to know:
I learned within a few weeks of vaping that the PG really irritates my throat, my throat is almost always raw. So I started using more and more VG with my e-juices and my symptoms improved. What I was doing is taking 24mg of Marlb (for example) which is PG based and cutting it in half with pure VG (Wiltons). What I end up with is a weaker and thicker e-juice which is good enough for me. But what I didn't realize is that by making my e-juice thicker it changed the "flow" characteristics with the different cart mods I was attempting.
For example, I had the ZFM (Zero Filler Mod) absolutely perfect a few weeks ago, no leaks, perfect vape, no flooding. However, recently that same mod just hasn't been working right and I've had to add a direct drop or two to get the same satisfaction more and more. I finally put 2 and 2 together last night after reading a thread about tobacco flavorings, especially a post by TastyVapor about making sure that when you use VG to be sure to thin it out to the same consistency as PG which is much thinner. Using 100proof Vodka, I thinned out my e-juices to equal the consistency of pure PG and voila - my cart mods are right back to working perfectly and I'm back in vaping heaven once again.
A very simple mistake by not thinning out my VG for so long but at least I learned something new once again that has solved my recent vaping issues.
Gotta love this place for help and information!
