I Like a Tighter Draw... probably because I smoked Carlton 100's, which made you feel like you were sucking mashed potatoes through a straw just to get a good drag... LOL

Probably also one of the reasons I like the eRoll so much. It has a pretty tight draw.

However, while the eRoll is good for work/out-and-about, the constant refilling of tanks gets old. I really would love a 650 or 450 mah EGO style battery with cartomizer or clearomizer. Problem is, the draw seems very loose in all that I've tried so far. I even got a cartomizer tonight that my local shop gave me for free to try out, but the draw still feels very loose (not sure the ohms on it).

What would you recommend for someone who wants a stiffer draw, keeping in mind I like a small setup. 450+cartomizer (XL) is about as perfect as I can think of when it comes to size.

Recommendations?

The draw will have to do with the airholes on the clearomizer you choose to use. Some people have blocked one or two of them with their fingers or tape so as to get that tight draw they like. I'm using the Aspire Nautilus which lets you choose between 3 settings. Even if they aren't enough you can block off or hinder the draw to your liking.

My trick back when I used them was to stick a toothpick in one of the holes, and bend it over to break the tip of the toothpick off in the hole.

A cartotank seems to provide the tightest draw of any of the more 'advanced' e-cigs. I know they're supposedly "old tech" but I like the hell out of 'em, for exactly that reason -- I do not want AIR, I want FLAVOR! And I want to feel like I'm sucking on something other than an empty straw!

For a more slender profile, the ones that hold 3.5ml are your best bet, rather than the big ones that hold 5 or 6 ml. The 3.5ml ones fit nicely on an eGo or a vv3, something slim like that.

Plain cartos also provide that kind of tight draw, but they're nearly as bad as the eRoll or dripping for having to constantly fiddle/fill it.

Draw has nothing to do with the resistance fyi... I'm sure you probably know that but the way you worded it when you mentioned ohms made it seem like you were relating the two.

Your best bet will be to find a clearo tank with adjustable airflow. There are quite a few out there now in varying sizes and with replaceable atomizer heads. Perhaps the kanger aerotank mini, which is ego sized and it's glass which in my book is always a plus. Keep in mind tho that tighter draws generally will pull more liquid into the atomizer head and can lead to leaking.

If you ever make your way into rebuildables, you'll probably like the kayfun as it has a tight draw. Hell i took the airflow screw out of mine so that it's fully open and wow is it still tight.

Thanks for all the advice everyone.

It's weird because the 650 EGO style battery + cartomizer I was using last night, it's just not giving me as much vapor as the eRoll, and I think it's due to the airy/loose draw. I feel like because it's so loose I can't get a good strong hit off it. It's hard to explain.

Could the looser draw also be a manual battery vs an auto battery thing? I've typically liked the auto batteries more... is there an auto battery in a bigger EGO style??

Here is an old trick from the past.

See the o-ring? We would slide the o-ring up/down to partially cover the connection.

More air will generally give you MORE vapor, not less. A tighter draw is good for thicker juices to get to the coil. If you're not getting dry hits with that airy draw, then the additional air should be increasing the vapor production.
The new aerotanks have adjustable airflow. The mini would look good on an ego....plus, they perform really well. If you're not opposed to rebuilding, look into the kayfun mini.

Not really, with a tighter draw you take a longer softer hit is all.

People complained about the tight draw on the old evods (non glass) but I liked them. That said it still may be a bit loose. As others said, I'd check out some of those with an airflow control like the aero mini or nautilus mini. Try them out in the shop if you can. Pulling on it dry will give you an idea of how it will draw, but it will be tighter when it has juice in it.

It always seems really odd to me that people complain of Kayfuns being too tight; I've got it 3/4 closed, and it still feels airy as everything to me. Sometimes I close it a little more, but then yeah, sometimes I get flooding problems. If I want a really tight draw on something, I just go with a carto.

I know the dissatisfied feeling that comes with too little vapor, though; when I first get up, I have to turn my wattage down to 5 or 6, just to be able to stand it without coughing up a lung as I did with cigarettes, but vapor production isn't very good at that low setting; when I can finally stand it, I love turning it back up, in 1 watt increments, till it's back to my usual 9-ish watts, good vapor production, great throat hit. On a non-variable 650mAh, it's probably just not warm enough to provide much vapor.

I have no idea if automatics are available in larger sizes, but I tend to doubt it. At least, I haven't seen a single one.

I've seen 650 mah automatics but couldn't find 350-450 mah ones in auto.

I've got a bunch of stuff coming in the mail over the next few days, so I think I need to wait before I buys anything else LOL.

I just can't get the feel for this 650 manual batt + carto. I want it to draw like the eRoll.

So a bunch of stuff came by priority mail yesterday...

The Smoktech cartomizers (1.5ohm) that came, they seem stiffer than the one I got from my local guy. With the 650 mah battery, it was a good pairing. I enjoyed it. I think filling and vaping a couple of those per day with the 650 and 400 mah batteries is going to be a great small kit, and a lot easier than messing with all the eRoll tanks. I love the idea of wearing the 400 + carto on a lanyard (yeah, I'm a dork).

Would still love a 400 or 450 mah eGo style AUTO battery!

My eRoll will become my "work-only" kit, since I need something very low profile for when I'm on professional photo shoots.
