Cut a steak? Yes, if it's a good quality steak and decent plastic knife, but then I don't normally put a knife in my mouth so it's a moot point. Crack a lobster? Probably not, but I don't put shelfish crackers in my mouth either. lol I was only talking about forks and spoons. Sorry for any confusion I've caused you. And yes, my chefs knife and tsantoku are both steel. lol
