I need a mod that is not a piece of junk

I've just about had it with the whole damn industry. I just want a decent affordable mod that works. In the past few weeks Iv'e had:

1. joyetech cuboid (200w?), stopped working.

2. pioneer4you ipv8 box mod 230w, can't remember what the problem was but it was faulty, didn't even bother sending it back

3. Sigelli snowolf 200w TC plus, worked for a while then started to short out. It would turn on and just switch off.

4. Finally gave up on TC mods and got a Geekvape athena squonk mechanical mod. Surely mechanical mod will work right? Wrong, stopped firing for whatever reason. Heats up dangerously. This redditor describes the issue very well

I keep having to go back to my old beaten up VTC mini, with a missing battery cover and screen that no longer works. Using the same 50w Tsunami RDA setup. Can I get a break already? Can I find one damn mod that isn't a piece of crap that I can be proud of?

Sorry to hear of your issues.
I have been vaping happily for over 850 days on my REO Grand. (Mod pride at 11)
Also close to two years on a Pico and VTC Mini. Two plus years on my Esterigons.
I might suggest a DNA based device, they seem to have a bit more longevity than some of the others in the same class.

I really like my Asmodus Minikin V2- I have 3 and have been using 2 of them since March and no problems!
I also like the Asmodus Minikin V1.5- a little different shape then the V2 but I have had no problems and have been using these since Feb! These Minikins have great battery life and are very small for dual battery mods- they are well built and have nice finishes! Yes a little pricey, but I think they are well worth it!
I also have the Smoant Battlestar- another good mod that gets great reviews- I have only had mine about a month, seems to be working fine- battery life is not as great as the Minikins, but OK.
Inexpensive but another good mod I like is the Yosta Livepor 160w- dual battery, cheap price, wasn't expecting much, but it has been a great mod for me, very lightweight, you can even buy spare sleeves thru Fasttech too! I think I paid $27.00 for this mod and it has had heavy use since January and I am glad I bought it.

Are you dropping your mods? Are your tanks leaking into the 510 of these mods? Sorry about your bad luck with your mods!

I've been using an aspire nx75 for over 4 months on and off with 0 issues. It's not for everyone (goes up to 75 watts) but works very well imo.

Otherwise recently got a sigelei kaos spectrum and quite happy with it. I did have a predator but it's now a dud still works but i stopped using it since it shorted out my crown III

I think you may wish to look at some of the higher end mods, and a DNA mod (if you are treating your mods right) might be a good choice. Also the Geekvape Aegis, it's waterproof, leakproof, and indestructible, people have run their cars over it, dropped it from great heights and etc. Maybe that could be your next mod? I quite like the looks of it and considered buying it at one point.

i love my sx mini q class. it's been solid, been dropped a few times. no issues,
same with my vapor flask stout at a much cheaper price. it is sturdy and has never let me down.
my tesla nano, with built in battery is still going strong, ive had that one the longest.

i would by any of them again.

I agree with this. I've been vaping for a few years now and have owned/used about a dozen different mods. Also worked in a vape shop for a year in 2014, so I've seen a thing or two.

My best mods have been Provari's (now out of production) and my current mod, a DNA powered JAC Vapour series B DNA75W. I believe that in many of the cheaper/moderately priced mods manufacturers are using generic microchips which probably don't hold up well over time. Provape's Provari chips were military grade and the mods manufactured to be built like a tank. The DNA chip made by Evolv has a stellar reputation, too.

I'm currently using the JAC Vapour Series-B DNA 75w
I vape 30-40W in power mode (it does have TC) and get all day use with a Samsung 30Q 3000mAh 20A battery. I love everything about this mod except for its rubberized paint finish; it will scratch with normal use. I just today received a protective vinyl skin customized by Vapor Skinz; a stainless steel model is rumored to be available soon.

I was going to comment to @alex8039 about higher end custom mods. I myself build them and anything he would get as for a custom lipo mod or 18659 mod that runs a DNA board or a VV board like the ones Voltrove sell will set him back a couple hundred up to $400 depending on what he wanted but that would be a def answer to his problem. They have a bunch of modding Facebook groups and also a modding section on here that he would be able to ask questions and get pricing.

I'm a mechie...mechs are pretty much all i use for nowadays...not familiar with that mod, but if you take it apart and clean it, paying more attention to the contact points, did you have any issues? heating up normally means it's dirty and needs cleaned....you might also have luck with a tube.

Agree with both of these opinions. Innokin isn't very expensive, but is GREAT quality. I have never had an Innokin product let me down.
Can't say the same for Eleaf, IPV, Tesla, Aspire, etc.

My go to mod for the past year has been a Tesla Invader 3. Dual 18650 mod w/o fancy screen or TC. I don't need them. Change the batteries once a day every morning. The only topper is a Big Baby Beast tank w/ M2 .15 coil. Potentiometer is turned all the way down and it is a lovely vape. Only vape flavorless Max VG and I'm still using the original coil for the past 2 months at 5 ml per day. I've dropped this mod too many times to count and it has never failed to fire. I'd replace it with the same tomorrow.

I think I've found my setup.

Most if not all mods from China are disposable grade.
It’s cheaper to buy a new one when it starts failing and there’s no parts available if one tried to repair.
Next mod I get will have components that can be replaced and 510 must be manually adjustable or replaceable,such as moddog.
If 21700 weren’t soon to be released I’d get a reo grand or something similar with replacement parts.
I’m looking for a mechanical bf mod that will take 21700/18650 cells but has replacement parts like reo grand.

Someone else had problems with the Athena... it's a design flaw in the mod itself that can be fixed. There was a thread on it here on ECF but I can't find it..

That will most likely solve the major problems your dealing with where concerns the athena.

That said, the advice in this thread so far is good.

Just so you realize, I'll reiterate, most mods are rather disposable. None of your mods cost more than 50.00 if your a frugal shopper and at that price, even if it only lasts 6 months to a year it's a decent life span for the price - and still far cheaper than smoking. let's face it, 50.00 - 100 a year to stay vaping a reliable product is really not all that bad.

You can always seek to spend more for a longer life span and a mod of a higher caliber, it's always your choice.

My son is having excellent reliability out of his wismec rx200 which we bought for 20 on a closeout sale. I'm having excellent reliability thus far with the tesla 120 nano which I bought used for 25... There are mods out there that will last without breaking the bank, although I would seek replacements at the 6 month mark, just in case. Always good to have backups for your backups.

As a beside, I was planning on buying this for my son for Christmas

I am really enjoying my Battlestar. I also have a Pico Dual. Both are built like tanks. I also like the Pico 75's. Those are cheap enough to buy several and they're hard to beat in the single cell category.

I have 2 istick picos that I got from rockymountainvapor.com an have put them thru it drop at least once a day , have had almost a year they are great
