So Cal
Sadly my eVic broke after 1 1/2 years of faithful service. While I really like the functions it wasn't very drop friendly :D

After reading tons of posts and with new units coming out weekly I figured I would just ask for advise.

What is a good durable VV/VW mod that won't break the bank? I am hoping for $70 or under.

I will be using it with a Kanger PT2 if it makes any difference.

Thanks in advance! :vapor:

In that price range just pick the one you like. There's the Vamo (mine wasn't drop-friendly either and bit the dust that way), the SVD (which many say is pretty good), and if you like box mods, the MVP2. A whole host of choices in the under 70 dollar range. Unfortunately, like the Evic, much abuse will not be tolerated for long periods of time. (I'll get votes for this) Just save up and get a Provari. Tough, warranted and repairable.

what do you have for backups?
my last resort backup is a mech with kick and kick tube.

since you had the evic for over a year you might want to look at the evic supreme.

If you're going to have to worry about dropping your mod, maybe you best bite the bullet and get a provari.

my own steel v3 sigelei zmax sure feels drop proof; it's just one long tube; no segments; only the bottom cap unscrews, not even the top cap; maybe the button can get damaged if it drops the wrong way.
my vamo - i'd hate to drop that although I do prefer and use it; but so far I've repaired/replaced the insulator grommet for the positive pin: was a pain to do the first time- actually took a week of occassional trying to wiggle the top pressfit off; second time was just a 15 minute fix; pretty repairable I discovered.

If I had an eVic that lasted a year and a half with admitted dropping - I would keep an eye on the classifieds and just get another eVic. Gots me one for $60.00 used, including 2 batteries and 2 extra battery tubes with matching top covers. That one has been through two owners now - still working. They don't show up often, but maybe a few will pop up if people are upgrading to the eVic Supreme.

So Cal
For a backup i have a couple spinners and various 1100 batteries laying around so I'm not in a big rush.

Thanks for all the replies! I'm not a big fan of box mods. That said the e-lvt looks bad azz but I didn't see a anyplace that tells if it displays remaining battery % or voltage.

I'm really liking the v3 sigelei zmax as an option. It seems to have everything I am looking for in a mod.

I am almost positive that the e-lvt has the exact same board as the Innokin SVD, or at the very least a clone of it. In which case, the battery life can be checked in terms of remaining battery voltage, not a graphical display.

I'd have to throw a battery in my SVD to be sure, but I believe you just hold either the + or - button and it will display battery voltage.

oh yes of course the e-lvt displays voltage resistance etc; just like any other mod with a screen:
Details:

•Quick click the power button for 3 times to turn ON/OFF
•Variable wattage - can be adjustable from 3.0W to 15.0W (in 0.5W increments)
•Variable voltage - can be adjustable from 3.0V to 6.0V (in 0.1V increments)
Check battery level, voltage, resistance and wattage
•Low battery, low resistance and short-circuit warning
•Voltage indicator: Lower 3.6V (red), 3.6-3.75V (yellow), Over 3.75V (green)
•Locking function for "+" &"-" buttons
•The maximum time for inhale once is 10 seconds
•Power supply: you can recharge the mod with attached USB cable, or you can take out the 18650 battery to charge
•Charging indicator: The LED indicator is ON when charging, and turns off automatically after fully charged
•510/eGo threaded connector
•Brass contact
•Powered by single 18650 battery (battery sold separately)
•Can be used as a mobile power bank
•With LED flashlight
•Water-resistant, shock-resistant and dust-proof

And as for the zmax, the only issue I've ever had with it is when you tighten a tank too hard down on it, I used to get a 'low load' indicator; that used to happen when I first got it; and the same issue happened with my second mod - a vamo; so it's really to do with the 510 thread design on most devices; but it never happens anymore because I got some 510-to-510/eGo adaptors and I put the adaptor on the mod semipermanently and only screw on the tank to the adapter instead of screwing on the mod.

I'm getting a new mod as well. I currently have the ipv2 50 watt and really love it! I've had zero problems or issues with it. So when I saw the newest ipv3 150 watt mod will be coming out with the newer yihi sx 330 v3 chip that will have software support with future upgrades we can do with firmware I couldn't resist putting in my order. I'm hoping it will be as good and even better than the ipv2 50 is!! If your looking for a new mod take a look at the ipv3 and see if you might be interested in it as well. It will require two good 30 amp batteries like the genuine vtc5 from Sony. It is a regulated mod but will according to the specs be able to sub ohm down to .1.I personally don't go that low, but it is possible. Like the ipv2 it will have touch and regular firing . It will vape up to 150 watts and will be getting more future updates. Depending on how many watts your looking for it might be a good mod. The price isn't too bad at about 144.00 and free shipping. They start shopping out on the 10th. Depending on your vaping style and what you like, you might take a look at it and see what YOU think. .I ordered mine from watts up vapor. I've ordered from them before for my ipv2 and they have super fast shipping and great communication. Before you comic to buying your next mod you should take a look at the ipv3 150 and see if it's something you might be interested in. I know 150 watts isn't for everyone, but take a look and see if you like the specs. It's always good to have choices. Hope this is helpful and wish you the best.

You mention the v3 sigelei zmax and I see a v5 for $60. Is there an issue with the v5? The gun metal sure is pretty!

the reason I mentioned my v3 zmax is that is what I have; I don't know the v5; and there might be telescopic versions, or versions with removeable tubes for the battery; the one I have is 1 long straight solid tube so it is very solid and as I said, it sure looks and feels drop resistance. Something with multiple tubes - which makes for using different battery sizes - might not be as drop resistant; like I can't use my zmax in short mode with a single 18350 because it doesn't have a tube I can take off.

Ahhhh gotcha! The v5 appears to have the same telescopic function as the v3 if the youtube videos are accurate. I'll do some more reading to see what (if anything) has changed. Thanks!

The e-lvt is described as being waterproof, dust proof, and shock resistant. There's a YouTube video of it being run over by a car. It just looks a piece of crap.

Waterproof did you say? Oh if there's one thing I miss, it's that single shower cigarette.... I may have to invest i one of these....

I had to return the the eVic as it wouldn't turn on and ordered the zmax in it's place. Very impressed with this unit both function and feel. Thanks for the recommendation!
