I need a tank that doesn't leak (no to ProTank and Davidi)!

Hey guys,

So I was using an eGo twist for awhile with some cheapo plastic tanks (no brand on it) on it. It was a great little e-cig that I used daily. Then I recently upgraded to a mech mod, a Sigelei 13. I also bought a Kanger ProTank II and a Davide tank because they got such great reviews and looked very high quality. I was super excited about this setup.

However, both the Davidi and Kanger tanks always leak and have major gurgling problems. It's so frustrating and annoying. Then, I did some more research on these tanks, and found that these were a common problem. I don't get why these tanks got such great reviews if these are such common problems? My cheapo tanks never had any leakage problems. Is there something I could be doing wrong?

Can anyone recommend a good tank to use with my Sigelei? Something that's easy to use/refill and won't leak all over the place?

I have never had my Protank I leak. The other one that I have never had leak is the iclear 16.

If you really want to guarantee no leaking however, your best bet is gonna be a carto tank. I love my Smoktech Artemas tank, and they are pretty budget friendly. Once you go Artemas gunmetal black, you never go back.

2nd the phiniacs. i love phiniacs and IBTanked tanks. i have a few of both.
Have never had any problems with either.
2.0ohm single coil cartos work perfect for me in both.

only time i had leaking issues on my protanks was when i used a thin juice.
switched to 65/35 pg/vg or 50/50(minus a flavor wick)and leaking seamed to have stopped.
have also read somewhere on here that around 1/3full on tank leaking and or gurgling starts.
never had it happen to me, so i cant confirm.

Edit. now that i posted i remembered. check the o-ring on the bottom cap. co-worker had one that was damaged somehow and caused leaking.

Yes you are doing something wrong...........as far as BCC tanks are concerned. longer slower draws reduce or stop chance of build up and leaking. The tanks are air tight and short or hard draws cause a siphoning effect. like a plunger in a sink pulling the water up instead of it flowing down, then Woosh.

There can be other occasional issues. A missing or misaligned wick. Very thin e-liquid, etc. but usually it is getting used to the way things work. I can literally drain my Protanks, evods or other Kanger BCC dry without experiencing leaks.
We are talking over 30 units and recycling dozens of heads.

If you prefer to try something different. Boge F-16 carto tank is excellent for performance with LR F-16 catros
Top coil, Vivi nova works well.

Pretty much this, once you get used to the quirks (not imply you should have to), and working with head configurations for different juices, you should have a pretty low maintenance, headache free tank.

It should be a requirement in the new member forum that everyone must refrain from using acronyms or similar abreviations

There is a learning curve when first introduced to any new technology. The terminology involved in vaping is no different. If there are abbreviations or acronyms that you don't know or understand then feel free to ask. A general google search will usually find them if you include ecf or vaping/vaper/vapor in the keywords. Another source that may help is tasteyourjuice.com, it has a vaper's glossary that defines some of the most common terms.

As to the OP the protank 2's and other tanks in general have good review because they work great for most people. There are multiple variables that can lead to problems. The amount of flavor wicks in these devices sometime need to be adjusted. They usually have a coiled wick and then 2 flavor wicks, depending on your liquid high vg or high pg, you might remove or add a flavor wick to stop the gurgling. As for leaking check the o-rings and silicon cap that goes over the post, and that the post is seated well. The only time mine has leaked was after I recoiled it and forgot to put back on the silicon cap. I hope you find the answer to your problems.

IMO every piece of hardware used in vaping has quirks you have to deal with. It's all about which quirks are not going to be an issue for you. Luckily you can use ECF and reviewers to learn this stuff. It's one reason I don't buy anything before a couple of months have passed since it's introduction and the negatives of the device become known.

You weren't kidding about being on protank technical support duty tonight! :)

I agree. I alway spell out what I am talking about, and if the product is a name brand, I capitalize the name. I had the same problem starting out. Then I found this page, helped a lot.

I have a number of Kanger Protanks, a couple of knockoff X9s, a number of EVODs and a couple of Pyrex DCT carto/tanks. From my personal experience, they all tend to leak if I take them in the car or traveling. When they are at home, not a hint of leakage at all. The DCT leaks very little compared to the rest - I'm guessing it's due to the fact their are cartos and not bottom feed tanks.

The advice you've gotten on protank and protank two are spot on. Personally if I draw too hard or prime to much (pulling with without firing) I can get some leaking. Just unscrew tank and blow from connector end and clean anything that may have dripped on battery.

If you're looking for something else you can try a carto tank like IBTanked. I had a lot more issues with cartotanks and leaking and burnt hits. Carto not staying wet and pressure unstable in tank so when it got warm it flooded all the time

It's all what works for you.
