I am a looong time Marlboro medium smoker and badly need to quit them.
I have been doing a lot of internet reading on this e-cigarette stuff and am beyond confused about which one to get and how to use them. I of course need to get a starter kit and anything extra I should get at time of purchase. I want to get a good quality, lasting cig that basically is a marlboro medium in size, taste, etc. Can somebody please help me with this? Please feel free to ask me any questions you may need to qualify me. I have read the faq's and a lot of threads in them and am still just confused.
Thank you soo much in advance... Bryan

I know how you feel, it all seemed extremely overwhelming to me when I first started. To answer your question... your request, is impossible.

You can't get the taste .. period.
The size is possible, if you don't mind lower performance.

My advice, get a 510 with 1 each of auto and manual batteries. Get a variety of juice in different flavors, play around with combinations and decide what juice flavor and level you like (try 11-24) and determine if you prefer the ease of use with the auto battery or the performance of the manual. By the time you've fiddled around with that to decide what you do and don't like, you'll have been around the forum long enough to learn where to head from there

:)Ryle is right on!

A 510 is a great first e-cig. And do not believe what they say about cart life. One cart is about 2 cigs, really. So if you get a 510 kit, and the good one to get has 2 batteries, 2 attys, charger and 5 carts. Then pick up some sample sizes of liquid. You can find many suppliers that offer 3ml bottles, and that is enough, but not too much should you not like the flavor. Start with the tobacco flavors, there are many. What worked for me was to go at least 18mg strength, with a mix of 24mg. The reason I say the 24mg as well is this probably will not be as satisfying at first as an analog. When the craving really hits, whip out the 24mg.

The first few days are hardest if you plan on giving up analogs. You have experienced it already if you have previously tried to quit. BUT, with that said, IF you feel the need for an analog, have it. Many folks here who vape also smoke, so no sense in beating yourself up if you do too.

I think to be honest in my case, it was not the nic withdraw, but all of the other c r a p in an analog. Some of it is a routine as well. If you reach for your pack of smokes, grab the e-cig.

Try not to get frustrated and after a while you may not even like the tobacco flavors. Your tastes will change, as the nastiness of the analogs flush from your senses :)

You will get whatever support you need here, and welcome to the forum!

I am pretty much like you. Long time MB smoker. Used to be full flavor 100's but switched to Mediums the last year or so.

The 510 is for sure a good place to start in the e-cig adventure. Read a lot on here to learn as much as you can while you are waiting for delivery.

Not sure how many you smoke a day, I was about 1.5 packs a day. Get the strongest juice you can from where ever you get it. You can always make it weaker by mixing it with something else, you can't make it stronger. I use 35mg VG based liquid from Vermont Vapor. I really like thier Tobacco flavor and their Maple flavor.

For a good price on the 510 kit, try Cignot.com. They ship fast and have good prices. You might want to try a bottle of thier EcoPure juice as well. It is very good quality made in England.

Good luck and don't think this is going to be easy with no issues. Any method of quitting smoking is tough. This may be the easiest around....

another good option for ease of use, is a kr808D-1 model.

it is a model with only two pieces, a battery, and whats called a cartomizer- so each cart has its own semi-disposable atomizer ready to go.

I love mine because it is easy to grab and go, I dont HAVE to worry about refilling if I dont want to, its still cost effective, and because it is a bigger device (inch longer than your king size, and a bit fatter) the batteries last longer, and the carts last longer too.

there's several suppliers who offer this model,
but personally I would stick to Nhaler.com or vapor4life.com

Get the 510 model kit with a manual battery...which means you have to push a button to activate the battery. You will not be disappointed. I've tried other flavors of nicotine juice and it doesn't really matter to me. All I care about is getting the nicotine in my system. You will learn alot when you actually have an ecig in your hand. I do care about thoat hit..and the 510 is the best way to go, in my own opinion. I got my 510 here Rocky Mountain Vapor you have reached the mountain top of electronic cigarettes!

hi guys...thank you very much for your replies..I think by reading many posts/threads, I am leaning towards this joye 510 model..seems to be very popular.. I am a 1 pack a day smoker and have been for 17 years :( I have tried to quit before and it is a hard habit to break. I am excited to try this method as an alternative, since the patch didn't cut it..the chantix pill made me feel yucky...I don't really believe in hypnotism..Have not tried, but thought about accupuncture (my mom quit that way years ago)but that could be very expensive at a couple hundred bucks to maybe pick up the smokes a day or two later??I guess I don't want to risk it.
Okay, back to the kit..comes with 5 carts (i assume full already?) The juice is to refill them.. correct? Based on what I've read to smokers like me I should try the 18mg range, and maybe one heavier just to experiment (seems as though you can mix)
Once again...I really appreciate all of your help and advise and support. This goes out to the other thread too. Sorry about the double post, I tried to edit the first one and came out with 2 threads.
Thank you :) Bryan

Yes Bryan, that is correct. The carts are full, but they don't last as long as they claim. Once you start pulling drags, you will see what I mean. That is why you need to get some juice WITH your kit. I started with the 801 pen style, but always go back to my 501 when out and about. Have been using 1 cart for a few weeks now, just topping it off. It also does not hurt to get 5-10 more empties, so you can have a different flavor in each.

When you get your kit, charge your batts and start vaping. These batts don't have a really long life between charges, and I have only 2 with no issues and keep rotating them out, so there is always one on the charger. They make a PCC(portable charging case) if you are on the go not near an outlet. These are great to have as a back-up.

Good luck, and keep us posted on your progress!

Steph :D

I just jumped right in. Before even knowing about this forum I went to Pilot Truck Stop and bought a Nipro and 2 boxes of cartridges. I then found out I really needed 2 Nipros and continued to buy expensive cartridges because at that time I didn't know about eliquid. I used the Nipro and still smoked a few cigarettes.

I then found this forum and began reading and asking questions. If I had found this before I started vaping I would have saved a lot of money and time.

I now have several 510 and use the drip method and I love it. I quit smoking cigarettes shortly after I got my 510. I also got 36 mg tobacco flavors eliquid since I smoked 3 packs a day of Marlboro red.

I recommend reading and learning everything you can from this forum.

Good Luck!

Me too Martha!!
I still use my ncig penstyle, and just order parts when needed, but it did the trick over 6 months ago. And there was a HUGE learning curve for me, but never gave up. I fiddled and worked hard at learning these devices. Now I have turned into a mod .........oh well, a girl can love her toys too :p
