Hey everyone, I just joined the forum today and this is my first post. Probably just like you I am addicted to nicotine. I started smoking when I was 15, I am now almost 26. Last year I tried quitting, and was somewhat successful. I say "somewhat" because I have been using skoal instead of cigarettes, but it's ruining my teeth and gums and I need to stop. I really miss smoking but don't want to go back. When I heard about e cigs I thought this could be my answer. So I have been doing research on them, and watched some videos on YouTube, and am very excited to give them a try. The only problem is I don't know what brand to buy. I smoked a little less than a pack a day of marlboro lights for 10 years and would like a product that could possibly mimic the taste and feel of a marlboro light. Any suggestions of the best products you guys have used so I can get started would be amazing. Also I was hoping to not spend a ton of money on the starter kit. Somewhere around $40-$50 would be great. So let me know what you guys think I should do. Thanks!

The flavor depends on the e-liquid you use, not on the e-cigarette. Some same Gourmet Vapor's Marlburro Smooth is a good Marlboro light juice. I never tried it. Other than you first bottle, look for juices with a blend of PG/VG as the base. I like 70pg/30vg which is a popular ratio. I like Backwoods Brew Casablanca, a complex Turkish blend with some cocoa (and I sometimes add more FreedomSmokeUSA cocoa). Lots of cigs have cocoa in the them including Marlboros.

Most supported and most recommend: Joye 510 (2-3 hours, or same with mega xl batteries 3-4.5 hours) or KR808D-1 (also sold by Vapor4Life.com, 3-4.5 hours w/ standard length batteries)
And if you need 6-8+ hour battery life and the ability to use harder hitting LR parts, then look at Ego or Riva 510

PCC cases should be available for all of those for charging away from USB or AC
Buy e-liquid no matter what ecig you choose. ALL need eliquid.

Those are the quick answers. And get Manual batteries - more sealed against death-by-juice-leak, won't turn on by accident from wind or vibration, and I think less work. Most people here use manual batteries.

Absolutely do not buy any kind of "free" trial, do not buy anything from anywhere that doesn't sell blank carts and e-liquid or charges more than $20 for a battery.

See 510/Ego/Riva at Cignot.com. LiteCigUSA.net, Liberty-Flights.com
See KR808D-1 at LiteCigUSA.net. Vaporleaf.com, and in colors at Vapor4Life.com (most prefilled cartos there too)

And before you buy anything watch the videos for newbies in the sticky threads of New Members

I would recommend the no-box 510 kit at cignotDOTcom. It's $35, with it's size it is more like a cigarette, and with a 510 connection you will be able to use the parts with mods if you graduate to them. I recommend getting cartomizers because cartridges are a pain. If you don't care about it looking like a cigarette, I recommend the 3.7v boxmod kit if you are handy at all with soldering. It cost $8.50 for the kit itself at madvapesDOTcom, (without batteries, charger or cart/carto also available at site) and has easily replaceable batteries. The batteries are about $4.50, a charger, $4.99. A pack of 510 cartomizers are $7 to $9 usually.

Juice: I like backwoodsbrew(DOTnet)'s Casablanca, myfreedomsmokesDOTcom's 555, and vapor4lifeDOTcom's WoWbacco.

After you vape, you will hate the taste of cigarettes. And there's a zillion flavors out there!

I started with an ego from Liberty Flights. Either a Joye or an Riva. There are a lot of great vendors, just check warranty information.

Here's a basic ego kit, $29.99 Pick up a couple boxes of boge cartomizers and 30 mil of juice. You can always upgrade this model. A pass-thru is about $20.

An ecig consists of a battery and either an atomizer & cartridge or a cartomizer which is an atomizer and cartridge combined. The cartridge and cartomizer are both filled with juice. A manual battery you push the button to vape. People prefer the manual because you can control how much you inhale and they don't leak and ruin the batteries.

What is the difference between a cartridge and a cartomizer? Also what is the difference between a manual and automatic battery?

A cartridge is a plastic mouth piece with a filler material in it that holds the liquid. It attaches to an atomizer that heats it up. A cartomizer combines the mouth piece and the atomizer into a single piece. Manual batteries have a button to turn activate them. Automatic batteries have no button, they're activated by the pressure created when you draw through the mouth piece.

Automatic you just start puffing on it. Has a cut off tho. Manuel batteries have a button to push and allows the user to control the draw time. Cartridge and atomizers work together(cartridge hold the liquid and atomizers are the heating element.) A cartomizer combines both the heating element and a place to put the juice.
Welcome.
