NorCal - The place to be!
I started with a vapor4life 'Ultimate Ultimatum' kit. I quickly went to the eGo. After collecting several eGo's I got a $8.50 box mod that is my number one PV now. I spent a lot of money trying to find my 'sweet spot' and it ended up being a box that cost me $8.50 lol.. my advice, however you start out, start small. Don't go buy any "ultimate" setups like I did. I have a portable charging case and a lot of other stuff I don't use just sitting around collecting dust.

So for a beginner, what is the best product to buy that will be easy and the most user friendly?

2 piece kit. Either KR808 or 510 with cartomizers.

If you're not concerned about battery size, I think a good way to go is an eGo passthru battery and a pack of cartomizers. Cheap. Easy. Effective. Versatile. Long lasting.

My husband bought me the same kit but I DO NEED all those chargers.
Probably depends on your situation.
I'm a heavy smoker and work outside from my car.
USBpassthru connected to the cig lighter is great on long drives.

cart - can last almost forever. You can put new blue foam stuffing when the old white stuffing gets old and cranky. You can wash and dry them. Unless it gets loose from heat, you can use a cart a long time. Carts need juice more often to keep the top of the stuffing damp so you don't overheat the atty or get burnt tastes. Cart attaches to a separate atomizer - atomizers can burn out but if you get good ones don't stress them by letting them get too hot, an atomizer can last for months. You should always have at least 1 spare atomizer, preferably 2. Atomizers can also be used for dripping method (not recommended for auto batteries). You can put a drip tip mouthpiece on an atty instead of a cart, and drip juice onto the atomizer and vape it.

cartomizer - combined disposable cart + atomizer in one piece. Holds more juice than a cart, needs to have juice added less often. You get a new atomizer in every one. For the common stuffing+atomizer kind you need to fill them well to start then add juice when the vapor seems a bit light or dry and you can't revive it by tipping it carto down for 5 seconds. Run it dry and you could singe the stuffing and ruin it. Keep it damp and you can get 4-7 days use or more out of a carto. There are also more exotic reservoir types that need a particular kind of syringe to fill. Right now I just used the standard soft-cap stuffing types like Boge soft-cap cartomizers for 510. 510 needs standard resistance cartos, not LR (hotter ones which can be used on Ego or Riva and other fat-battery 510 models) For my Vapor4Life (KR808D-1) I use their two kinds of cartos for blanks plus some others or I use their prefilled sampler-pack cartos and just add a a compatible flavor ejuice I already have when they need juice. KR8 cartos for me generally run a bit hotter and have more TH but less vapor. 510 with standard-resistance Boge soft-caps give less heat and TH but more vapor.

I recommend manual batteries for use with cartos - if a carto drips it will drip right where the drag sensor of an auto battery is.

Well, I put it together myself. Madvapes drills the holes in the box for you, but it's a kit that requires a little soldering. They have instructions on the site. It was actually very easy!

You have me terribly curious... i have seen the kit now... do you use an atty and cart, or a cartomizer with it?

a 510 or something different?

Yeah, absolutely depends on your situation. I was just way too excited when I ordered my kit, I wanted the best outfit out of the bunch. I didn't take the time to look at all the items included with the package and think 'will I really use all of this stuff'. I don't leave home much so the PCC was not necessary. I did use the case a couple of times, but the passthru got plenty of use! :)

The kit comes with a 510 connection. I use Boge LR cartomizers with it, also available at Madvapes. I love this thing! There is a small round hole in the bottom, I put one of those cellphone/camera neck strap things in the hole and around a carto soft cap inside to keep it connected. I just put it around my neck and I'm good to go! It takes a 14500 battery that lasts all day. I love it!

Hi Millah10
I was about to post my first message when I read yours.
I'm a newbie just like you to all this fascinating world of e-cigs. It's got its own lingo so one may be really intimidated at the beginning, and overwhelmed!
I started my research last Friday and after reading reviews, watching vids on youtube etc. etc. I decided to get mine from Electronic Cigarette | Affordable, Only $59 | 100% FREE Shipping!. I got very confused with all the different models of e-cigs out there so this seemed a good one to start with, and maybe stick to. Got my kit yesterday and I haven't touched a real cig since.
These things are amazing! I'm discovering a whole new world I didn't even know existed. Been a Marlboro Lights smoker (1 pack/day) for too many years, besides the obvious health concerns, my pocket was hurting as well.

There's a lot I still need to learn but I think I made a good decision by ordering the smoke-tip, it's easy, it feels like you're inhaling and it's kept me away from the Marlboros.

I don't know if down the road I'll find a better e-cig, I've read many people start with one and then switch. For now I'm very happy and can't wait to try other flavors.

I believe the smoke-tip is a KR808D-1 type of e-cig and just found out there are suppliers out there that sell them even cheaper than Electronic Cigarette | Affordable, Only $59 | 100% FREE Shipping! ($59.95 FREE 2-day shipping and AMAZING customer service!!!)

Here are some suppliers you may want to check out:

Hope this helps!

I really would go with cignot's no-box 510 kit for $35 or an eGo passthru battery(built in charger via USB)for around $20-$25 bucks, depending on if you need it to be cigarette sized or don't care. The eGo is more cigar sized but the battery will last some people all day. The 510 is cigarette sized but the battery will not last you all day unless you are a very light smoker (or 'vaper'). The 510 connections on either will allow for greater versatility in the future.

No box 510:

eGo Pass-thru:
https://www.cignot.com/product_p/ego-pth-all.htm

If you get the eGo, upgrade to the 1000mah for an extra $4, you'll be glad you did. This will definitely last you all day.

Don't forget Cartomizers and juice.

Good luck, whatever you decide. Welcome to the forum!

I like to tinker sometimes... I may have to try that.

Have a few things going on right now... but I am going to keep that in mind... yeah LR cartomizers... that makes sense

It's a fantastic little box(the Madvapes 3.7v boxmod), it only got a few parts, it's cheap, the batteries are relatively cheap, it feels pretty solid after assembly. I love this thing. eGo's are great, but when the battery inside dies, that's it. Game over. You can't replace the battery, you have to buy a new eGo. With this box, a new battery is gonna be less than 5 bucks. Break the box? Get a new kit for $8.50. I don't even use my other stuff anymore.
