I need my Alcohol!(question)

I see the best way to touch up a TH is with PGA (and other uses).
But my question is this how would the mix be good/bad if you substituted a different alcohol? i.e. sambuca or a whiskey for 1 drop in 10ml?
I have read that a high alcohol content is required, but don't understand why. wouldn't a drop of whiskey add a nice flavor compared to a flavorless PGA?
If there is a thread on this already please point me in the right direction.

How Chief. Welcome to ECF. I would definitely not put Sambuca in it -- too much sugar will clog the atty. If you want to know what alcohols you can put in, yes, there are threads on this. Go down to the very bottom of the page, and you will see 'Forum Jump'. On the drop-down menu, go to DIY liquids (not the recipe section). They can tell you in a heartbeat what will and will not clog up the attys. From viewing a lot there, I see they suggest Everclear for thinning the eLiquids and even 151 rum. Hope this helps. Good luck with your vaping! :)

Thank for the info help Sea,
I think you're referring to the noob guide to DIY. that list all the FA oils and some do/don'ts etc. I read that more than once, but i don't remember specifically addressing various alcohols and why, but i will return to it and look again; i seem to learn more each time i read through this forum.

Like Moonflame, I live in Virginia and can't get PGA without a license. Bacardi 151 rum is freely available here and I've been using that with no problems in my DIY juices.

ETA: When I asked, I was told that the higher the proof, the more pure the alcohol, hence fewer problems with clogging the atomizer.

Great!
Thanks for all the info. So I guess the general rule is designed for atty safety. And not limited to PGA vodka or 151, but in the interest of safety those 3 have been tested as safe. Stay away from thick or high sugar cordial drinks and should be OK. That's great to know thank you everyone for the help.

Exactly how much alcohol do you add to say a 6ml sample bottle? I have several that I bought, blackberry, pear, cream soda, etc. Can't get a TH from them at all and they are 36mg of nic! Would adding vodka help and how much is what I'm really after. The bottles are just sitting around collecting dust because of no throat hit. Thanks!

If you make DIY VG juices, PGA or vodka is good to thin them, and they do need to be thinned. About 10%, maybe less, should do the trick. I used to use it myself. It really makes flavors bloom and the vape more consistent. However, it dried me out too much and made me feel weird mentally, so now I use 15-20% distilled water for thinning, which works great too.

Of course, YMMV. Many here use whiskey or 151 rum as well. Stay away from sugared liquors, unless you want a gunked atty. Regular rum has sugar, as well.
