I'm trying a few screenshot programs to decide what's best for me but....I'm having a hard time getting any of them to tell me how to post a screenshot image to a forum. On most forums, there's an Icon for posting images and it asks for the URL. Well, here's my question:

Is there any way to make adding a screenshot to a Forum post easy, without having to do file conversions or uploading first to the net? In other words, is there a screenshot App of some kind that just lets you copy and paste a screenshot into a post?

I know you asked for smart people, so let me start by saying sorry. But I'm seeing if something works 1st.

OK it did work, so here we go this is what I did:

click on the paper clip to the right of the smile'y face, and font size and color.

upper right corner add file, find file on your computer and it will show up on the top box.

drag down to lower box, Attachments, and click insert inline and done. (something like that)

Make sure you have enough text in your post, and sometimes I find it takes a minute or two to fully upload. (but I have a really old computer)

If this isn't what your talking about, then I'm sorry, and no I don't know why I even opened this tread, you are very specific in who you want and I usually don't fit the bill. :)

Safira, I do appreciate all the trouble you went to in order to help me. If it's truly possible to just upload the file from my hard drive then that'll be good news (except I can't ever find the files). I guess what I want is to be able to drag and drop screenshots into a forum post like this one, but I don't think that's possible. Nothing's quite that easy, right? I think I actually need to 'find' the filename, which is always a problem....and then insert that into this forum box.

thanks markfm for that link! Right now I'm trying out two others but they don't make it clear how to get a screenshot into a forum post. I guess they just guess that everybody already knows how.

Is this what you are looking for. There are a lot of steps, but it very easy. I can do it in a few seconds.

1. Hit the "Prnt Scrn" button on my keyboard.
2. Open Windows Paint.
3. Hit "Paste"
4. Crop if needed.
5. Save to wherever I want it.
6. Go to TinyPic - Free Image Hosting, Photo Sharing & Video Hosting
7. Upload the file I just made.
8. Copy the IMG code.
9. Paste it here.

Hope that helps.

The OP wanted to skip uploading to a web hosting service (like TinyPic). Looks like post #4 might be the answer (although it's new to me too, LOL)

FWIW, AFAIK most ISPs provide web space, included with your service. Don't understand the popularity of services like photobucket et al, when you've got your own host which you're paying for already. Ah, life's mysteries.
