So I am still studying on which E cig to buy. I have come up with a few worries and thoughts that I have and I am hoping the community could help out or pitch in their input on the matter.

Concerns:
  • I started out a smoker then for years a dipper or smokeless tobacco user so my concern would be how much would upkeep cost on a ecig a month (I know this varies & this is excluding juices).
  • I am leading towards buying a Halo Triton my concern is you have to order their stuff online and have it shipped this costs a little more so as far as the coils and wicks on these setups how long do they last?
  • There is a Vapor Shop near my area they only carry egos if I purchased a starter kit from them ($49.99) it would be convenient to buy parts for the 510 setup locally but how often would the parts inside tear up.
  • The triton and local vapor shop ecigs are all Top Coils so they have wicks is this better then bottom coil ecigs?
  • If I buy the Triton which has 808 threading I lose a lot of compatibility with local shop parts due to all of them being 510 shops.

I'd be happy for anyones input on my concerns.
Thanks!

Have you looked at the MVP 2 yet ? You can get them pretty cheap and people love them things ! Throw a Nautilus on top and from what people say you should be in heaven. I went straight from an Ego to a mech. and still want to get this set-up for running around. It's just every time I go to pick one up I end up getting another Atty, LoL

Can I be honest (or at least express my blinkered opnion?)

I spend almost nothing on my e-cigs. Yes, I spent large amounts on hardware (building up a collection for the future), but these days, it's very little.

Don't buy an 808 kit. Please. (If you end up buying lots of equipment and get into Vaping, you'll regret it).

We have a brand similar to Halo in the UK. If I had $1 for every person who swore that "it'll be good enough for me and I can't see why I would upgrade...." I would be holding a brand new Provari.

Obviously, I have no right to comment on Halo as such, only the phenomenon. One UK new vaper spent over £200 on this kit and ended up giving it all away when he finally settled on more mainstream products. (MVP, VTR i.i.r.c.)

I would recommend just going ahead and supporting your local E-Cig shop and buying the Ego-kit. It's cheap, easy to use, and it's where most people start. I started with just a simple Ego battery and CE4 head. No, it's not the best by any means. But as a smoking cessation device, it will get the job done.

In the future, if you want to get more out of your vaping experience I would recommend skipping the intermediate devices all together and go for Re-buildable atomizers. They can seem to be complicated at first but once you learn, they are very simple. You can get Chinese clones from Focalecig or Fastec

Well since you're against the 808 setups would you recommend a certain brand of starter kit?

My only problem with this is are they reliable and will they cost me a arm and a leg in hardware that tears up on them?

+1 on this advise. I've been at this for a long time. When I first started in 2006 the industry was small and every new devise/cartomizer/atomizer that came out had its own unique threading. Nothing was compatible unless you used adapters. All the adapters were small, they all looked the same and it was a real pain to deal with. I don't recommend going there!

I just can't make myself like the box style devices.

When I first even looked into vaping back in 2010 I didn't see myself with a box style either, Fast forward, I now have the mvp 2.0. It's not that big of a box. maybe the size of one of the old flip cellphones. I love it. I still use my ego twist batteries as well.

I started this year with an ego twist with the disposable ce4's and also the ce5's, You can replace or rebuild the coils on the ce5's. Vappingme.com has some good deals for hardware.

I got lucky when i bought my first set-up not knowing a thing about them. I went with a eGo twist battery and a Kanger Aerotank, i have sense upgraded to a Tesla vv/vw mod and just placed a order for some Kayfuns. That being said i have zero issues with my current set up but wanted to try my hand at building coils. Kanger products seem to be nice for beginners such as myself just for the ease of fill and go. The replacement coils are rather cheap two at 8ish for a five pack. Only issue is the quality of the coils can be hit or miss, some last for days some weeks and some hours..

I would buy an Ego Twist, a Vision Spinner, or an iTaste vv3. They are all reasonably priced and you can get toppers of all kinds for them. If you buy a Triton, you are going to be locked into buying Halo stuff and have no options. With one of the others, you can order from FastTech really inexpensively (though there's a bit of a wait to get things) or from ebay or from a wide variety of vendors. JMHO, but I think a Triton is a mistake for the long term.

I have the Halo triton and find it's very good. Problem is I live in Australia so expensive replacing anything to do with them.

I have bought a few kanger evods in Aus and love them. I find the coil so simple to put in, I didn't find the halo coil easy!! The
kangers don't hold as much liquid but that doesn't bother me.
They look pretty similar to a triton but are they 510 or 808?

I've got 3+ ego spinner type devices in addition to variable voltage/wattage and mechanical mods. I use them all. I have Protank Minis (glass tank) attached to all my Spinners and they are a wonderful vape. There is not cost involved in upkeep for the battery other than occasionally cleaning the threading with rubbing alcohol and a Q-tip. The protanks can be rinsed out with hot water and the coils pulse dry burned when switching flavors that are dis-similar from each other. I go through approximately 2 coils a month. I buy my coils online (on sale) for $1/each shipped.

At some point you may need to replace the charger that comes with the kit (any kit) as most of them are pretty cheap. But you can do this for about $5.00.

Kanger EVOD eGo Full Kit - Vaping Me

coupon code=ecf for 10% off

and you'll be set for awhile, you'll just need to get yourself some good e-juice

Thanks for all the input everyone! Definately a +1 for ecig forum community! Anyways I think I will stray from my halo triton decision, All I want is a starter kit less than 100 USD that wont require me putting tons of money in it for up keep. Also can anyone give me a link to a starter kit they recommend?
