let me preface this by saying that I do not yet know very much about ecigs, really all I know is what I have experienced in my short month of vaping. I have a riva 510 and vape nothing but ave juice.

so I was over at a good friends house and was having a conversation with his mother. I have known her for a long time and she knew about my smoking habit. So we are talking and she lights up... I then pull out my riva and she is amazed to find out Ive been smoke free for the past month. She has smoked for 20+ years and wants to know everything there is to know. I told her everything I could and let her try mine out, although it had her coughing quite a bit at first she said she liked it and thought that it would be enough to keep her off real ciggs. So I told her a couple sites to check out including this one so she could maybe get an idea of what she wants.

Well, she texted me today and is apparently having problems finding something to get started on and is not understanding all of what she is reading. I promised her I would work up a list of suppliers and different models for her to at least check out reviews for on youtube. I really need some help, I dont know of anything other than 510s from liberty flights. She is on about a $100 dollar budget for everything, kit, juice, cartos and whatever else.

Now let me tell you what she is looking for, she wants something small, comparable to an analog in size, she was thinking auto at first but i think i may have talked her out of it when i explained the potential battery problems due to over juicing, but if there are ways around that please let me know. Now i realize that juice is subjective and no analog smokers have a clue what they are gonna like as far as juice goes before trying quite a few out but she has been a marlboro light smoker all of this time and she did say she was not interested in smoking anyhting too sweet/fruity. I have quite a few samples/older juices i dont use any more that i will be giving her but if anyone knows good suppliers with decently priced kits and some pretty good juice please let me know.

so..... if you were trying to get a friend started where would you send them, what suggestions would you give them, any help? Thanks in advance guys

sorry, didnt mean to write a book

I'd suggest that she goes with the 510 manual for starters. That way you can support each other if you suffer sudden gear failures. She can always buy an extra auto batt if she wants to try it but the atties/cartos etc are interchangeable.

As to where you buy it, I'll leave to others to comment. I'm on the other side of the world.

Cheers.

You have a Riva (ego) or a 510 mini?

I'd suggest she get the riva ego from liberty Flights
2 Boxes of boge 2.0 cartomizers from Joogler (use code ECF5OFF-$5 off your first order) you get a free bottle of juice & a couple drip tips.

Vapor Station Tampa

(This is the exact same thing I ordered for my neighbor who smokes Marlboro lights.)

Kr808D-1 outshines a 510 in every department...imho :)

Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Starter Kits Looks like an analog, you use it like an analog, the cartos are fantastic, the prices are amazing, the battery life is good for its size... I could go on.

I own a manual 510. I own an ego. I own a 3.7v box mod. I also own a volt.

I use my volt on a daily basis. My 510 is in a drawer collecting dust. My ego is a backup to my box mod now. Nothing compares to having a cig size pv I don't need to fuss much with that I can just stick in my mouth and 'smoke' from. Had it for a few months and I've had absolutely no problem with battery failure. An excellent auto battery that hasn't yet gone off in my pocket or to anything else other than from me using it as intended.

Very durable. My ego is down to the metal now that the flimsy paper-like covering around it is all scrathed off. The volt is rubberised around it and I can't even see a single scratch in any of the batteries and I carry them in my pocket every single day.

Halo is the exact same as the volt: G6 Basic Starter Kit - G6 E-Cig
Boog is the exact same as the volt: Welcome to the New BLOOGPLANET.com - The Future of Smoking - Your One-Stop E-Cigarette Resource

Buying in blank 808 cartomisers and filling them yourself is very cheap as well. You can reuse them for a week or more. A ton cheaper than buying prefilled cartomisers.

Pricing and cosmetic design are all that's different. I highly reccommend any of these as an introduction pv. If it's still active, the coupon code 'heatwave' is a stonking 23% off, why I reccommended the volt over the halo and bloog because they're all the same, volt is just cheaper.

I agree with leftfeild. Everything that you have described about what you wanted would be a VOLT.

I would HIGHLY suggest that you get the PRO KIT though:

Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt - Pro Starter Kit - Starter Kits

It has everything that she would possibly need besides a wall adapter. This would allow her to be mobile without the fear of having a battery die on her. Even if though the 78mm batteries last around 4 hours. It's still nice to have something to charge it in with an additional battery for backup. I honestly believe that the PCC is something that will add to the experience of vaping.

I'm sure that the G6 and bloog are great but they lack in one department or the other. The G6 doesn't have a pcc available and the bloog is expensive.

My last piece of advice is to have her check out the ECF. She'll get all the help and info she'll ever need. I honestly believe that without the ECF, I would be lost and still smoking cigs like there was no tomorrow.

Go with what you know. Are you happy with the Riva? I know I sure am, as are many others. If she just has to have something smaller, I agree with Clark and Alpha. Go with the standard 510. If she is on the go a lot, make sure she gets extra batteries or a Portable Charging Case (PCC) for the 510. To me, the extra size of the Riva vs the smaller 510 is worth not having to change out the battery every couple of hours, but to each his/her own.

Also, like others have mentioned, if you both have the Riva, you can support each other in case of sudden failure. Of course, the 510 parts are interchangeable with the Riva and eGo. So either way, you are good.

Not to rain on your parade but a 510 with just an atomiser is the least portable option I currently own. If you get them a 510 and they need it to be portable, get some 2.5ohm or thereabout 510 cartomisers. Atties are really nice to drip on, just awful to take out and about.

I use my 808 stuff on my 510 stuff all the time with a 510 - 901/808 adapter. Just prefer 808 cartos lol

Sorry, I edited my comment for clarity. I did not mean to imply the 510 was the most portable option out there. I just meant to present it as an option if she insisted on having a smaller battery.

Ah sorry I didn't mean to sound harsh or condescending or anything. More just dropping portability advice because you reminded me about the atomisers. If they get a 510 for them they'll likely need cartomisers or something similar because the atomisers dry out so fast even with a cartridge on them. You have to take juice with you and fill it all the time and it's a real pain. Cartomisers for outside, dripping your atomiser inside to save your cartos :D

I haven't recieved my Volt yet (tracking says maybe today) but I went with the pro starter kit, two packs of empty cartos, a pack of pre-filled, and some colored tips for organizing flavors. After priority shipping my total was $108 and some change. I think the manual batts are a buck more apiece but I'm pretty happy to have stayed so close to my $100 budget.

I always thought V4l's VaporKing was a good start for amateurs, having had and completely hated a Joye 510 (YEAH GO TO HELL CARTRIDGES)..But I mean everyone thinks different...It's not the best Kit, but the Cartomizers frm them aren't too bad, and they last a long time, the USB Passthrough is a good way to get aroudn the battery life, and they have cheaper liquid...Just thought it was always the best thing I got to really get my foot into the door..I think the eGo is too much for a newbie, especially if they get the tank system...You know how many of my friends wanted to just try one pull of it (it's about the same number as Floods I've had DX)

I'm not a fan of mini's but I really do prefer the 510 over KR808's. Anyone that has tested mine said the same.

Why one earth would you think an Ego is too much for a newbie? How is it any different from a KR808? You fill up the cartomizers exactly the same, place them on the battery exactly the same. One you get a better hit and longer battery life.

Hmm..Probably because I specifically wrote,I haven't tried the cartomizers on the eGo yet...You ever think that maybe skeptical people that don't have as much knowledge on it as you do want to pop in all this money and know all the exact parts to order? No they want to buy a starter kit see how it works and go from there...Like I said everyones different and so are their wallets...Go suck on a tank system as hard as you can and watch all your liquid end up all over the place after you set it down and then have your battery destroyed because you had no idea how to pull...Also not everyone is computer savy and knowledgeable to figure out google and forums e.e

Not only this but how many of the skeptical smokers want to have somethign that resembles the look size and feel of a cigarette...I can tell you now that an ego, is absolutely nothing like one...

The ego is a cheap and inexpensive way to start vaping.

My mom and I started vaping at the same time. I started with a $30 ego that I'm still using. Never used carts in my life just cartomizers. My mom went the 'want to look like a cig' route. Started with a Smoke Tip, then a V4L KR808, then a Riva Ego.
We ended up at the same place but it took her about $200 more to get there.

She still uses the KR808 from time to time because she has money invested in all the stuff she bought. I've gotten her a Bloog battery, bloog cartos, volt battery and volt cartos and they're all pretty much the same. You'll get a decent vape. To me you get a better vape with a 510 (battery life sucks though) and the best vape with an ego.

She's in her 70's with health & vision issues so if it's not too complex for her, I doubt if it's complex for anyone. She was able to adapt to something that doesn't resemble a cig the first time she vaped an ego.

It was never an issue for me. I never thought there was anything particularly attractive about smoking that I'd want to emulate that with a pv, I just wanted to find something that would get me off cigarettes.
