I could make a really funny post here defeating the cuss filter

but i don't want to get bant

Hehe. I was once banned from a forum for overriding language filters.

Imagine the fun time the mods would have cleaning this place up if people who knew how to do it posted how to do it.:p

Just kidding, Angus, don't hit me with your pink ban bat.

I made a post the other day about the "Smothers Brothers" in a "when did you realize you were old" thread and they blanked out Tommy's brother's first name!

Read this & it took me a sec to remember Tommy's brother's name. Then it made me laugh.

I guess we'll have to refer to him as Richard Smothers?

Guy manning the wiretap? Surely not - there's No Such Agency which would stoop so low as to monitor your PMs

:D

Actual guys? Nope. Mostly. Probably.
But their computers ... that's another story ('cuz non-humans can't be charged with wiretap laws). :2cool:

-Harry Callahan (Teasing NSA computers since 1988... somewhere in the bowels of Ft. Mead is a sticky note with my phone info on it, saying "Ignore any traps on this guy - he's messin' with us.")

Pretty sure the mods have full access to PMs too, although I don't recall seeing that in the fine print - doesn't mean it isn' there.

I wish!

PM's are private. The forum word filter checks PM's for words which are banned as well as posts. They are not flagged, we do not get a notification telling us someone is PMing others with banned words. It's just filtered. If you want to talk about things which are not allowed here, then exchange emails. The forum rules cover the whole site.

Has anyone ever bogged on Huffingtonpost? WOW they have a filter for everything, and everyone has a way around it. This site is peaches and cream compared to the filters on that site. They rely on them and only moderate some of the blogs. It's gotten so out of hand that I left. If a thread isn't in full mod mode, then people just get as nasty as possible in the most creative ways they can. I had hundreds of friends and fans but it was just plain destroyed because nobody was keeping an eye on the trolls. I picked up two stalkers in one week. I have a thick skin so I put up with it for a long time, but eventually I had enough. I couldn't say boo without being attacked by a dozen people at once. It just wasn't fun anymore at all. I hope this site doesn't go down that road.

Hmmm. I was misinformed. Thanks.

Mod's and admin's don't have as much access as a lot of people think. They don't even know people's log in passwords. When they use their mod/admin CP and go to change a persons settings, if they look at the change password slot, it is the same as we see it. All dots. However, it does mean they could play little pranks on us by changing our passwords waiting for us to figure it out or use password recovery.

Jiff, don't give Elendil any ideas !!!! 8-o

One time on the SE VS FDA thread, I made a comparison of how the government banned a "drug that is smoked", in the 1930's and how they are trying to ban e-cigs. Some of my words relating to that drug got censored, but I didn't mind. I wasn't advocating drug use and everyone knew which one I meant.

The forum censor is a machine, not a person. It doesn't know if you are saying "don't use (blank)", or if you are saying "use (blank)". All it knows is that the word (blank) is not allowed.
