I have been vaping for almost 8 months now. I really enjoy it and would never return to cigarettes. However, I have no intention of quitting vaping and don't see any reason why I should.

Several people have commended me on quitting smoking but they still almost always
continue with 'So when will you quit vaping'?

My response is 'Probably never'.

It's just so annoying.

Anyone else have this same experience?

For me vaping is a alternative to smoking. I have no plans to stop either.
I would like to get away from the nic but have kinda gotten stuck at 3-5mg which still.. is much better than puffing on the stinky sticks that I tried and failed so many times to give up. ( mainly because people were bugging me, I enjoyed smoking too much I think to really want to quit)

It's like saying to someone, "You quit fast food, but when are you going to quit meat?" As far as I know, nicotine by itself (in moderation) has no long term side effects (correct me if I am wrong)... I get the same response from many people, almost a general assumption that vaping is a 'bad' thing. I love vaping, it taste great, it's relaxing and enjoyable... I am certainly not vaping ONLY as an alternative to cigs, I am vaping because in my opinion it adds value to my life. Yet people who correlate vaping to smoking see vaping as a bad thing and will generally append to it some made-up side effect. Really the gist of it is ignorance and hasty assumptions.

Well, I don't get out too much, so don't vape in public too often, so have never had anything like that said/asked of me.. Though while I was still smoking some analogs and vaping, one of my best friends who doesn't like people who smoke much (though he lives with his sister and brother-in-law) and they smoke and he only complains when I go visit them, because I smoked too. Always asked me, "Why are you smoking, I thought you were using your fake cigarette thing. I thought that's what you got it for, so you don't smoke cigarettes."

Smoking is definitely a two part addiction; 1) the NIC and 2) the psych issues with something to hold in the hand, puff on, etc.

I started using e-cigs to get away from analogs and that worked. I've gone from 36mg to 6mg in the process; but like Wench, I've plateaued. The way I look at it, I've almost beaten #1 and don't see harm in #2!

Yeah, I kind of felt like I got a kick in the teeth when hubby who quit cold turkey (he smoked a whole 2 cigs a day!) asked me why I didn't just quit vaping. I mean... after 2 or more packs a day of smoke in his face is gone... he still wants more of me. Ain't happening until I want to do it. Sheesh! He's not nagging or anything, I just didn't like that teeny touch of smugness that goes with that kind of thinking, even though they probably don't mean any harm.

Asking me about quitting vaping is a very touchy subject for me, I don't know why, though, because no matter what anyone else says, I'm going to do what I have to do to stay off the cigarettes.

Thanks, Sally! Right back at ya. But seriously, it is aggravating when some non-smokers aren't able to recognize the willpower needed to quit a long-term habit. especially one as addictive as smoking. You'd think maybe they'd understand from other areas of their lives, but sometimes they don't. In the end, I sometimes have to remind myself of Seinfeld's wise words... "people are the worst"... and let it go at that.

Yep, I was getting that a lot from my mom. I told her "I will quit vaping when I take up smoking again" That shut her up real fast! lol ;)

Sorry JenJen, I'm totally stealing that one. I've gotten that question before as well. I find it quite annoying. I personally plan to continue vaping until they shovel dirt on my coffin.

I still want to stop vaping at some point..but not today! This week has been stressful trying to fix up my childhood home to move into, meanwhile I still have my house to sell and empty. My hubby is sick and of little help. Yesterday I sat down for a break and grabbed hubby's cigarettes before I realized what I had in my hand and dropped it! I haven't had an analog in a year and a half!
So the urge or the habit is still there. I don't dare leave my vapor kings at home. One day I will quit..but not today.

we were just talking about this on our way home from shopping. my honey is a non-smoker and me of course have been for over 20 odd yrs... even though i have quit the nasty habit of smoking, he honestly feels it's just another way of doing it and he's not sure if it is still a healthy switch. i just told him that he didn't understand how hard it is for someone who smokes to quit the habit and if it wasn't for the e-cig i'd probably would still be smoking. in our discussion he did say that he did understand how hard it is to break this habit and that he is proud of me, but deep down inside he wishes that i wouldn't vape... one point in our discussion and i have to say that he is right about this one, is that i cough more when i vape than i ever did when i smoked... not sure why, but it started about a couple of months ago. maybe it's those little hairs that are growing back and giving me heck when i'm putting something in my lungs that shouldn't be there....who knows maybe one day i will give it up, but i honestly love doing this and yes, it is keeping me away from the real deal!
