Well, I finally quit vaping.
It's been a long journey but I've been stopped completely for 3 weeks now. That was always my intention and I'll often look back fondly at my vaping memories and remember how it helped me quit smoking.

I suspect though, it wasn't as good for me as I'd like to believe, and that's a hard thing to admit, like any addiction I suppose.

My message to you folks is don't forget why you're here, and don't give up giving up. The vaping community has been good to me and I wish it well. Vaping works as a smoking cessation device, but it's ultimately only better for your health if you stop doing it eventually.

Good job on quitting something that you did not want to do:) That being said, your last sentence is your opinion and is not likely correct. I see no reason to stop vaping, I love it, it's a relatively inexpensive hobby and I haven't seen any reliable proof that it poses any risks to my health. This is just my opinion, so I say vape on!

You might want to look more into the flavoring component of e-liquid...

I agree. The only reason I can see to stop vaping is if you're one of those folks who think that because something is enjoyable, it must therefore be BAAAAAD.

Eh, I have no plans to quit vaping. I smoked a pipe, cigars, and went to hookah with friends on occasion (god, I hate hookah bars) but luckily never smoked cigarettes.
When I started vaping it wasn't to quit any of that but just that it looked nice. Now vaping is one of my biggest hobbies and all my tobaccos have been sitting in a drawer at home for over a year now. I open that drawer and what used to smell like a great English, a peppery perique blend, or a smoky latakia now smells like "....," "....," and "more ....." I never smoked excessively enough to believe it was a danger to my health but I'm grateful that even that minor health risk was easily replaced by something so much better.
I'm lucky enough to not have a real reliance on nicotine because I'm of the belief that the only nicotine product that you can become chemically addicted to are cigarettes. I get cravings for nicotine but if I'm tired of my juices I can easily stop vaping for a few days till the mail arrives or I go into my local vape shop.
I think the fact that vaping doesn't cause you to cough junk up every so often or affect your fitness is evidence enough that any potential health risk is so minor that it doesn't compare to the mental health benefits of enjoying a great vape.

I'm really happy for everyone who's able to use vaping to stop smoking. And for everyone who just wanted to take back control and become free of their addictions, I'm glad that they've been able to stop even vaping. That being said, I don't really see it as something that most people will plan to stop doing and I think there's nothing wrong with that.

You mean flavorings with Diacetyl? I am careful to only order from vendors who state that their products do not contain this chemical.

I hate to touch this comment, but Diacetyl is also in your butter/margarine and even in Alcoholic beverages. Also stay away from ALL cultured products. Even regular pasteurized milk can contain this chemical.

I am not sure why you posted that you quit vaping in a VAPER'S forum? Are you bragging? Not quite sure of the point. Do you go to gaming forums and post that you quit gaming? Confused.

ROFL!!! Yeah it really would be more suitable for a Puritan's Forum: we quit everything and now we're PURE! :D We breathe only pure oxygen and consume nothing but triple-reverse-osmosis-purified water!

;)

I see nothing wrong with the OP starting this thread..

He used vaping as a smoking cessation tool.. How many ex-smokers use any of the traditional smoking cessation tools long-term? (Yeah, there are some who became addicted to nic gum and have been chewing it for years, which sometimes leads to a new addiction & health issues)

As somebody who's quit cigs & gradually cut down nic to where I'm now vaping 3mg & looking to make the leap to go below that (but still above zero for now.. I'm too much of a wimp :D), it gives some inspiration that it can be done.. At the very least, my eventual goal is to vape zero-nic unflavored -- if not quitting vaping entirely at some point..

And as much as I enjoy vaping, one could also argue that it can be a somewhat expensive PITA -- with much larger forces looming on the horizon whose mission it is to make it become a that much bigger & more expensive PITA (i.e., BT, BP, Big Govt)...

Not everybody wants to be vaping the rest of their lives.. Some do, and that's cool & understandable...

But chastising them for their decision ain't exactly cool, either..

I also see it as a bit of a "goodbye" ECF wind-down post..

Anyway, congrats to the OP!
