I went to the Best E-Cigarette Section and read the different information and copied some of it. Here the first 3 paragraphs name the start kits and says a number of links are on the page but I couldn't find them. Can someone assist me with them to get the kit that is recommended? Which one or all about the same type and look like a real cigarette? I had a MISTIC or MYSTIC from a Truck Stop in town and it was nasty bad and hard plasyic. I never even finished all of them in the box. I found this information on ECF after registered and filled in my personal information pages. KR808 and 510 and eGo?? Are they like the one I tried? The three basic models that are most highly recommended by users through the forum are the KR808, 510 and eGo. For most new users the KR808 or the 510 are the most popular choices since they are the same size and shape as a regular cigarette; these models are called minis because they are the smallest type. The mid-size models such as the eGo, Riva or KGo are a little larger, about the size of a medium cigar, and what many ‘vapers’ end up using as the battery power is greater than the minis. The KR808 and 510 are well-suited to new users because they are the closest replacement to smoking. They tend to look like real cigarettes (or ‘analogs’ as the forum members have dubbed them) and using the automatic models feels very similar to smoking a real cigarette. We have a number of links in this page so that, if you decide that a KR808, a 510 or an eGo is right for you, you can be taken straight to a reputable vendor in your area. The ecig you end up buying will likely be branded by the company you buy from and batteries and end fittings come in just about every color under the sun. So don’t worry if it doesn’t exactly match the pictures on this page. We only link to vendors with good reputations on the forum, and so we’re confident you’ll get a good deal. There was more but no links that I could find. Did I maybe just miss them? tom ................ sorry I tried to get paragraphs but it all ran together

I don't really understand what you are looking for. "Best" is going to be what your personal needs are.

What are you looking for in a ecig?

Ego type batteries are very versatile as they typically have both ego and 510 threading allowing you to use many types of tanks or cartridges.

808 threaded gear is somewhat obsolete but stuff is available.

Mini "cig-a-like" automatic batteries and associated cartridges were not my thing. Not enough battery to vape all day, not enough juice capacity to sustain a days puffing either. They are small tho.

Ego type kits are an inexpensive and effective starting point if you don't mind that they don't look like a cig.

What is important to you?

Sorry your having problems. Do you happen to remember a name of a member who posted in the thread or even the thread title? When exactly was this (date or maybe time?) Edit: I think it was from the info page Best e-cigarette
Yes it was on that page under "Best E-Cigarette?" Tom .................. and for some reason I am still not able to get paragraphs. Maybe I need to restart browser??/ Others postings look OK. It is just mine that run together.

I'm not sure what the issue is but I'm not one of the tech people.

Here's a post regarding this.

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...-posts-missing-whitespace-paragraphs-etc.html

If you still have problems, post in Site Feedback and Help and someone will help you. :)

As noted New e-cigarette users Archives - ECF InfoZone is where I found the article. No links though. I will do much more reading before I make myself a pest. Also will reset the browser as it has the hands of adolescent gamer masters running amok on it daily and lord only knows what might be set beyond my abilities to resolve. I noted the kind link on 'paragraphs' and will contact if I cannot make it all well without being a burden so early on in my journey. THANK YOU so much and I will sign off now and restart the whole system and see if luck follows my hopes! TOM (smile smile)

You can post as much as you want.

Have you narrowed down what your looking for?

A mini ( KR808, 510) or larger battery (ego, etc.)

How much and how long have you smoked? Do you have access to chargers? What's your budget?

Keep in mind that you get approx. 1 hour per 100 mah of vaping. This is a very rough estimate, but a mini lasts only a few hours where bigger batteries last several.

Here are some links to some good quality cig-a-like vendors:

Electronic Cigarettes - Buy Electronic Cigarettes Online | South Beach Smoke

Electronic Cigarettes | V2 Cigs

Electronic Cigarettes | Mig Cigs | e-cigs

Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | E-Cigs | Electric Cigarette Juice

HaloCigs | Premium E-Cigarettes and E-liquid

Ok I have restarted the whole computer after resetting the browser as well (as if I knew what I am doing).

Smoked 20 years. Non-filters - Camels (and anything else a military guy could swap and mooch) - dipped as well. Tried to quit when smoking was hazardous to life and limb and did quite well under those circumstances. Then when we could smoke made up for lost time and chain smoked like fools adding in alcohol. The cycle became a habit over time and now it is part of life I suppose.

Family members have electronic cigarettes and are so deeply obsessed with them I resisted their every offer because they were so demanding that I at least TRY. Pushy I guess. So I refused just because of the way they went about it almost to the point of belittling me for not having the gumption. Perfect people in every way or so they think!

I am not even going to mention it to THEM so my exposure is only through looking on the web and seeing pictures and reading articles. I don't like the hard plastic ones I tried from a truck stop with the little light on the tip. So many look that way - even the TV commercial with the pretty lady was the same thing. I immediately thought NO. So on the web I saw stores with a lot of different styles. Glass, plastic, look of all metal (??) and easy to fill or so they said. I like that hands on type and the bottles of liquid. Not sure about the fancy named flavors but assume that is an option and a personal choice made as a guy (or gal) learns.

I have a lot of shops in and near "the big city" but before I go to them I wanted to have some knowledge of what the heck to ask. I see the Kanger name a lot all over the web but then saw some people say they dislike them. The numbers meant nothing to me - but then I saw the glossary (??) here and that helped a bit. I guess when I saw the title "BEST" I was expecting the magical little man to hold my hand and walk me to the store!

Now I am anxious to see IF the paragraphs are going to show up or if I have a lot of words all strung together. I do appreciate your patience. I will read and read as I am very willing and able to do that before going to town and dealing with the sales people who will no doubt be either helpful or have a hand in my pocket. It seems to be the way of the world nowadays.

Gently crossing all my fingers for those paragraphs!

Tom

EDIT: SUCCESS!!!!! (for now).

You'll probably want an ego type kit. Unfortunately, they're all hard plastic or metal tips. There is this

Vapor Zeus Dual Mode Starter Kit | Vapor4Life E-Cigarette

It's pricy but grimmgreen did a youtube review of it and it's pretty decent. It's the only thing I remember that has a soft mouthpiece.

CARIDWEN............. Thank YOU! Now that article and the others on that page will give me a good amount to read. I think I will grab the little netbook or whatever that small computer is called and go get comfortable in MY chair (and out of this "computer chair" the youngsters can sit in for days on end and have myself a good 'read'. I shouldn't say this, but I'll also 'have a smoke or ten' while I do the reading, yet another time I do far too much of the habit. I AM ready, but when I make the move I want to make it with all the tools in hand and a good supply to back those up in case I manage to destroy the primaries. My military days won't let me have 'just one'!

Thank You and Thanks to the other nice knowledgeable people as well. I have the time and I will put it to good use. The family will be the LAST to know though! I want to shock them and then simply say, "not a word people. Not a blanky-blanky-blanky-smile-smile word or I pull the pin on this grenade! Laughingly of course!

"Best" is a subjective term. Each of us is different, and what I like may not be what you like. I've been in a couple of the local stores that cater to e cigs, and the kids hanging out there seem obsessed with how much vapor they can produce. As a pack a day smoker for 40 years, I could care less how much vapor comes out, I'm looking for flavor & throat hit (TH). I started out with the Ego copies, and quickly moved "up" to something that is more to my taste. I think if you just pick something & get started, you'll start getting an idea of what you want. I won't ever go back to cigarettes, since I feel so much better since I started vaping. I hope you will too.

Well I called a shop not too far from me and asked them about the Kanger T3S and the EVOD tanks. They seem pretty straight forward and while not the choice of some I gather they seem to have pretty good performance and the parts are easily found. I figure I will give the shop my first dollars to establish a relationship and see how they treat a new customer. I hope they don't try and sell me up to some expensive setup. If they do I will walk since I know I can get the same at one of the places suggested here and I waited this long so a bit longer is no big problem.

Battery selection is wide open and their prices are maybe 20% higher on the Joytech adjustable. I did read about the higher rated or better liked adjustables and have to decide on that still. Probably better to spend now than later. I like the Innokin MVP (?) and will recheck that before I go to the shop. Maybe get a basic from them and get the better one from the shop on line and save a lot.

I best go write this down and look one more time and then decide. Tremble tremble. But ready!

Thanks again to everyone.

Tom, you've picked out some excellent pieces to consider. EVOD and T3S are indeed nice toppers. They are both "bottom coil" type. If you're venturing into a vape shop, and they offer you anything other than this type of setup you're thinking about (EVOD, T3S, Innokin iclear16, or Vivi Nova are other very "new" friendly pieces, too) partnered with a "BRAND" name Joyetech, Innokin, or Vision branded battery (yep, "Twist" or "Spinner" or even that MVP2 are superb choices), then they are NOT treating a new vaper well.

No fancy/schmancy metal "mechanical" mod, or giant metal tube mod (anything with "Mod" in the description) with $$$$$$ price tag is necessary UNTIL you've experienced vaping and decided for yourself how you like your vape. It sounds like you're extremely read on the subject, so you'll be going in with a lot more knowledge of what is appropriate for a new setup.

Good luck to you, Happy Vaping, and Welcome to ECF! Look forward to hearing what goodies you bring home.

You might like the MVP more than the ego types. I kind of imagined you with it when I read your intro. I also see you getting into the mods once you get your feet wet--building your own coils & generally tinkering with all the flashlight types. Possibly even chasing clouds.

Anyway, the same topper (EVOD, T3, Protanks) will work on the MVP as the ego style batteries. I strongly suggest getting a Winder/Spinner/Twist style battery if you go the ego route so you can see how the different power settings affect the taste of your vapor. Different flavors taste better at different voltages. If you go home with an MVP 2.0, it is all ready variable voltage & variable wattage. The MVP also has a little brother called a VV3 which is my preferred battery at the moment. Like a square ego but with Variable Voltage & Wattage, Puff Counter, Ohm Reader, pass through capable and uses a standard micro usb charger. Egos use a proprietary charger and only a select few have variable wattage or pass through.

I started with 2 Joyetech (brand name) ego-C Twist batteries, 1 EVOD & 1 iClear 16. It got me hooked immediately. The iClear 16 produces warmer vapor than what I like and it sucks up the liquid like a Dyson as long as you keep twirling it. I prefer the bottom coil types and now have 6-7 EVODs, 2 Mini Protanks, and the original Protank. The coils are all interchangeable so I don't have to keep track of what goes in which or keep a supply of multiple types of coils. The Protanks are for liquids that react with plastic--citrus & cinnamon specifically but there are others--cola, some banana, some mango, etc. Hopefully your local shop will have a tasting bar so you can pick out a few different flavors.

I am not certain (because I don't observe closely enough perhaps) if posting bumps a topic up the list, however, if any new folks might be looking for direction on equipment and just some links to good reading that lead to additional links on more reading that might be helpful - thought I'd try to get this back up top. If not - maybe they will find it anyway from today's date ??)

CARIDWEN ...... CreepyLady......VapieDan.......Hypatia.......03FXDWG and others helped so much with straightforward and understandable suggestions. I could follow the 'links'..... go search the Models suggested and also some of the 'terms'. It just helped me - help myself.

Since that day I have seen so so many get hit with words and models and the like that still mean nothing to me and I wonder if they mean anything to the "new" new people. I would have been so confused I'd still be going in circles trying to figure out all the detailed models and rebuilding tips and the like --- things I never knew existed for anyone. New people? A bit too much right off the bat. Or, maybe I am just "slow".

I didn't have any definite equipment in mind so I did not suffer the good intentioned, yet way beyond the scope of MY understanding, "Oh you need to forget that thing and go buy a..... some name the new guy may or may not know. Most of the time when they ask, "What is a RBA"? it is obvious someone moved too quickly. THANKFULLY I had none of that to deal with; I received "the beginner package suggestions" and it helped just enough to get me going with good equipment, easy to fill, maintain, clean and so on. Thankfully!

Anyway. Enough. Maybe some of the links in the posts help someone else and maybe not; it is also another chance for me to extend another Thank You to all who helped "me".

Tom
