I used my first little "real" Mini for two years, every day at work and on the 45 minute trip back and forth....and loved it. There's definitely a place for a Mini. I carried a couple of batteries with me in a little zipper case, and it was great.
Ok. Ordered all of the requisite parts from Reo, including some extra bottles, and 3 new Aw Imr batteries from Overready. I will chime back in when I am giving this another shot after replacing everything. Thanks everybody.
While you're waiting for new tubes, bottles, and o-rings, I suggest you buy a pint of cheap vodka or Everclear and soak the body of the Mini using a small tupperware bowl or something with a lid. This will help with any lingering flavors in the atty connector's insulating gasket. Definitely file the tip of the fire pin and apply noalox as per Rob's video.
Just got all of the rebuild parts and fresh batteries. Charged up, installed everything and now it just won't fire at all. I'm going to do the file and noalax when I get home tonight and see if that's the issue. Otherwise I guess I will send it back to Rob for a once over.
