I relapsed and I find it hard to go back to vaping.

for the first few weeks into vaping..........i had a huge nic craving leaving work. An ecig just wasn't cutting it, so i smoked a cig. By about the end of the 2nd week, that craving was gone..........which leads me to believe that there are other addictive stuff in cigarettes besides just nicotine. The major trick for me was finding something with NO fiddling, and something that didn't take hours to configure before bedtime for the next day, or before I left the house to go somewhere. I bought a REO! yep, yep...........that took care of the fiddling part. Absolutely positively NO fiddling at all. Then I had to find juice. About 6 months into vaping a friend sent me a sample of some AVE sweet tart & that was it. I had reached vaping bliss!!!! I could stop buying from every single juice vendor!!!! & my vape was perfect every single time. I think everyone needs time to find their sweet spot & if we fall off the wagon in the meantime, so what.........? get back on the wagon then log into ECF & know that you've got the biggest ecig community in the world backing you up & are here for you to listen to your vaping frustrations, or even your frustrations because the sky is blue. PM me if you ever need some 1 on 1 advice.
I am very hard on myself. I really want to find the perfect device and perfect e liquid. I've tried all the top shelf flavors from the top vendors and haven't found it. I want to try the repairable atty's but they sell out quick (ahem BMWJEN today ;). Vaping has a big learning curve to it and the initial investments are very expensive, especially if you want a quality vape.

It took me 2 months of vaping and smoking simultaneously before I could drop the analogs completely. It also took me that long to find a device and juices that matched my tastes.
There is certainly no need to beat yourself up over switching back and forth between smoking and vaping.
You have decent equipment (Lavatube and eGo), so it's time to find juices you really like. It's subjective, yes, but you can still get good advice from others based on what you already know you like. Just ask.

BTW You were close with vaporer, but the correct term is vaper. A Vaper vapes a personal vaporizer. :vapor:
Thanks for the advice.

WTA is whole tobacco alkaloids which basically means that they have extracted all of the alkaloids in the tobacco leaves, out of the tobacco leaves, and into a solution, which they add to they're juice. SO when your vaping WTA, or whole tobacco alkaloids, your vaping all the alkaloids (naturally produced chemicals) that are in tobacco leaves. (Just like how you were burning them, when you were smoking cigarettes)

Your LavaTube died? How did it die? What happened? I only ask because I was actually planning to order one tomorrow... Did you order yours when they first came out, or recently?

I signed up just to answer this thread.

Don't ever beat your self up. You cannot carry on with the battle if you're injured.

I started using the e-cigs 2 mos ago. End goal is quit analogs. I decided to work them in here and there gradually. I still smoke cigs, but 1/4 as many as I used to. I see that as positive since I'm actually starting to feel 75% better vs. 100% worse for failing a self imposed agreement.

As time goes by, I find more and more that I don't feel like going out in the cold, I'll just vape.

I don't want to pause this movie to go smoke, I'll just vape.

I only have 2 smokes left and its 8 pm little corner stores closes at....., I'll just vape til tomorrow.

I'm smoking less and less and feeling good about how long a pack of smokes lasts now.

Also starting to get very turned off by the dry crappy taste of real smokes and I expect to evolve fully to a vaper soon, but have no deadline.

Good luck with your struggle.

If you go back to smoking, can I buy your stuff?

j/k

You've pretty much taken the same approach I have, only maybe you won't be *quite* as patient with yourself as I've been (I may be overdoing it a bit). I figure I'll know I'm past my deadline when they pat me in the face with a shovel. Happy Vaping!

I've converted a lot of people over to vaping and while some didn't stick with it, many did. The one piece of advice that I made sure to hammer into them more than anything else is this...

If you feel like you need a cigarette, then smoke a cigarette.

There are other alkaloids in cigarettes that some people become more addicted to than others. I think it's best to just roll with the urges and keep on going instead of fighting them. If you vape at times other than when that huge urge hits you, you are going to notice an extreme reduction in the amount of cigarettes you go through, and of course, that reduction is better than nothing at all.

Contrary to popular belief here, you do not have to completely replace smoking with vaping if you don't feel up to it. Vape when you can, smoke when you need to.

I am (today) celebrating the fact that I've only had one cigarette today. My husband's been analog-free for two days now.

... and yet, neither of us deliberately set out to quit, only to find an alternative to reeking up the car when our daughter was riding with us.

That said, I personally don't see a problem with the occasional cigarette if/when you need to have it. I have discovered that analogs taste metallic and flat to me now by comparison to the richness of the juices I've become accustomed to, but at the same time, there are other components in analogs which you don't (normally) get through vaping. However, an analog wakes me up first thing in the morning, which (after nearly a quarter-century of smoking) I'm not in a hurry to stop doing. I'm still not taking in anywhere near as much of the guck as I used to. :)

Best rule of thumb: don't get stressed about it, don't beat yourself up over it. Just be patient and take it day by day.

My feelings exactly. Someone else here said, and I often quote, "Every cigarette you DON'T smoke is a WIN!", and that's the way I have to look at it. I didn't begin this thing expecting to win 'em all, or even especially wanting to - all I wanted was the Freedom to choose at any given moment whether to smoke or not to smoke. I *believe* I have achieved that freedom now, but have yet to prove it to myself, so at this point what I see myself dealing with here is some rather pointless mental gymnastics which only serve to evade the issue.

Each of us who has a goal has his/her own goal, and mine was freedom to choose. I'll know if I have achieved it when I decide to take the test, and not before. OTOH whether or not I have achieved that particular goal, I have won a lot of little victories with all those cigarettes I did not smoke, so I'm allowing myself to feel pretty good, and I hope everyone else is too. Happy Vaping! :vapor:

My daughter was also my inspiration to get on the vape train. I messed around with the Ego-T for a while and it actually worked really well for me to start. I got tired of the eventual leaking and tried the Kanger horizontal coil carts. I find they produce a really good TH and vapor especially with the right juice. I have been off the stinkies now for 8 months and I am amzed that i did it! I LOVED smoking but now it repulses me and I LOVE vaping!

Keep at it, you will find what's right for you:)

Hopefully someone has already mentioned, get your LT fixed! Assuming you bought it from Volcano it should be under warranty still.

I find vaping worlds better then smoking ever could be. There's just so much variety to pick from. Too many flavors to try them all. The community itself is amazing. Vendors are kick-.... Must be some of the best customer service of any industry. I don't stink, I can RUN. I've never been a runner. Today at the gym, for the first time uhh ever... I ran 10 minutes non stop. That doesn't sound like much but for me it was a milestone.

I found for me it was all the state of mind. I see my PV is a hugely positive light. I made sure to do that when I started out vaping as well as seeing cigarettes negatively, evil, expensive, killers, ect.

Buying the best stuff isn't enough, getting the perfect vape isn't enough. I've had to vape on the worst vapes with the worst juices and the weakest mist. And I've felt so miserable at times, hoping the next juice or accessory will save me. But at the end of the day, you either gotta want it or you don't. Ultimately you have to make the choice. What are the pros and cons of smoking? What are the pros and cons of vaping?. If you can't stop yourself from picking up the smoke, and pick up your e-cig instead, it's cause you don't want to quit smoking half as much as you think you do and that's okay. It's still YOUR choice. Just be honest with yourself, and don't beat yourself up. If you still think you need those one or two smokes, make it part of the plan. But if you're going to break down every time your vape isn't par excellent, you're going to feel terrible a lot. Just take the time and I don't mean a second, I don't mean a day, but really take the time to evaluate what you want, and what's important to you. Once you figure that out, then just take the course of action that you think will make you most happy, we're gunna be here for you either way, but it's your life.

Thanks for the info. Let me rephrase my previous statement. The battery on my lava tube is fine. I ordered it from apollo cigs but got a bad atty and battery. I recently got it so it has the hole on the bottom and so far hasn't had any issues beyond the high voltage vaping and LR attys

We hear a lot on this board from people who quit smoking pretty much immediately upon discovering vaping. People who have not had this reaction are not as likely to share their experiences, for obvious reasons, and I'm willing to wager there are far more of them than the first group. As people upthread have suggested, try WTA juice. There's, also, the Other Alternatives To Smoking subforum. I wouldn't beat yourself up over this. But I do think continuing to experiment with PVs and juice might help. And I agree with the others that framing it as Harm Reduction may be more mentally beneficial than reinforcing the weird addictive mindstate of All or Nothing.
