Mercurochrome.

Iodine and Mercurochrome were always in the medicine cabinet. I liked the way they stained the cut or scrape! I was always skinning my knees. Most of the time I had two very red knees from the Mercurochrome!

I can still remember my mother dipping the applicator into the bottle and smearing it on my knees/elbows/knuckles....(I used to climb a lot of trees).

Yep. I sure do remember that applicator! And the rubber top! It was tough to open the bottle without spilling the contents. That color too, it was a weird red.

Sorry all, but here is my negative I remember post (I just need to get it off my chest)

I remember in 1995 we had a massive flood here in Medicine Hat. My jr prom was almost cancelled, at 14 that was a huge deal! Millions of dollars in damage. We thought that that was the worst we would ever have. We even had a large propane tank floating down the river and sharp shooters taking shots to try to blow it up before it hit the bridge. It didn't blow, and pasted by the bridge.

We are flooding again tonight. We are already slightly above 1995 levels now, the river is not expected to crest until the early hours on Monday, originally they had said 1:00am, but they have changed their projections a lot so no one is really sure. They are expecting the crest to last 2 days before it recedes. My mom was evacuated on Friday, in 95 her home didn't flood, but we are pretty sure it has now. School has been cancelled, been the kids that are graduating do not need to do final exams. I don't remember that ever happening before. We only have one bridge open right now, if the water keeps rising that one may shut down as well, and the City will be cut in half.

Other cities around us have also been hit hard, especially high river and Calgary.

So tonight I am remembering our streets before they were flooding. I am remembering my mom's yard, and her beautiful pond. Her old house that she is in the process of refinishing, she just finished refinishing her hardwood floors. I am thinking about the paths by the river that are so enjoyable to walk along. I am thinking about how great it is to have electricity and water because we are afraid that the berms might not hold and the plants are in the river valley. I am thinking about Medelta potteries, where artists have been creating wonderful pieces of art since the 1800's, and it is now flooded.

Mostly, I am thinking about everyone who has lost there homes or has suffered severe damages. If there is anyone here in Reoville that is going thru this my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thanks all for hearing me out.

BV - before video games
We had to use our imagination!
Toy soldiers & building battlefields, treeforts, matchbox cars & making tracks, Tonka trucks, marbles and always wanting "steelies", snow forts and snowball fights, capture the flag, hide & go seek, bringing a squirt gun to school meant you were a troublemaker! Custom banana seats on your bike with playing cards clipped to the spokes and high rise handlebars!
Then came Pong and the rest is history!

OMG my grandma chewed snuff too.... we actually are going to my Mom's next weekend to go through Grandma's stuff and we HOPE there are a bunch of snuff cans so my sister and I can each have 1.
I remember party lines and my mom said that is how people knew everything!

I remember children were to be seen not heard. Also little pitchers have big ears meant the interesting grown up talk was finished :)

The worst thing i remember besides the dreaded outhouse was kicking over grandma's mason jar of snuff spit.
I learned to watch where you walk and don't run in the house plus it was safer outside than inside LOL
