I only use external batteries for everything and so I have never bothered to find out but...
People say go at about 60 watts per battery (25rs for example).
How comes with these little mods with inbuilt batteries you can use them up to like 75 watts?
Is it because they are Lipo batteries and can produce more power safely?

But they are not safer chemistry batteries right? and so the possible venting would be worse?

The mod's electronics deliver the actual wattage and take the load, but high amperage batteries are necessary to power them. Power =Voltage x Current, so a 20A battery at 4.2v could theoretically deliver 84 watts with a .21 ohm coil in a mech. That would be max and not exactly safe, but 60 watts is within the theoretical range.

I'd want a dual or triple battery series mod to vape high wattage. Overkill is our friend when it's handheld and close to our faces!

Like the DNA 200 can deliver 200 but if you buy the 166 so you can use external batteries it can only deliver 166.
Why is that?
What is the difference between Lipo and Li-ion in this regard.

Sorry, I thought your were asking how they get 200 watts out of a set of 3 batteries that don't add up to quite that much in the specs. I'm more familiar with the RX200S that I have. I don't own a DNA200.

Good question. Most of our mods are black boxes with little detailed documentation about what's inside.

It's probably the working current levels of the batteries. Lithium Polymer is less likely to spew under load than Lithium Ion. Lithium Polymer is more compact, so you can pack more capacity in a smaller package. The increased vape time has to be a result of more MAH in a smaller package. You never know what's in a sealed mod these days.

I've read here and there about LiPo batteries, but since we don't see them unless they are in a mod we own I don't think much about them. We don't always know what's in a mod unless we read up on it.

I learn lots of stuff answering questions here in the threads! I look at it as an educational experience.

The DNA 200 and 250 require 9-12.6 volts to reach max wattage. 2 18650s supply a max of 8.4 volts. You need either 3 18650s or a 3S Lipo Pack (3 lipo batteries in a series pack) to get the neccessary input voltage.

LiPo batteries have a lower "internal resistance" that results in them running more efficiently, i.e., at a higher voltage than the cyclindrical batteries we often use for vaping.

Cylindrical and "prismatic" (rectangular) LiPo's are Li-Ion batteries though, just a different chemistry than the other batteries we use.

LiPo's are physically more delicate than our cyclindrical batteries that are in metal cans. LiPo's are also more easily damaged by higher temperature, don't last as long (overall), and react MUCH more violently if accidentally short circuited or very badly abused. In return though, LiPo's are lighter and run at a higher voltage, resulting in more power and a smaller battery.
