Think of using AC as like CONSTANTLY chewing Big Red gum...right after that you can barely taste anything. That does happen to a lot of people, and its something that goes away. I have read conversations in TVs thread about this very thing.

Everyone is different...don't forget that. Some people can put them down completely...others have to scratch that itch when it comes around. You are doing fine, and have the mind set that you are going to win this battle, and you will! Just look around you at all of the comments, not just here...and all of the people on herfe that will support you no matter what!

Wow, I never knew about the grandma pass~!

Seriously, thanks guys.

I really can't taste any other juices after trying the AC at 5v!

:shudder: NOBODY wants to see "psycho Bees" please.. take the 5v!!

Seriously Lynlee.. it's OK. Remember what I told you .. it took me months and months of trying different juices and PV's and combinations. I was never able to just drop it cold turkey (until all the cards were in place)
Don't be hard on yourself. If you do, then you are setting yourself up for failure. You can do this. Not everything is black or white. Every single one of us is different.. we all need different things.

No scolding.. only hugs!! Think of all the cigs you DIDN'T smoke.. not that one little one you did. THAT is the accomplishment!! That is truly something to celebrate. Remember how far you've come and pick yourself up and keep going!!

We all believe in you.. and I see it in you too! That is what counts most of all :)

(((hugs))) you are doing great!

Thanks for your honesty Lynlee, seeing all these threads just give me the impression you are just putting WAY too much focus and undue pressure on yourself, it'll happen when it happens, quit being so hard on yourself. I said it before and I'll say it again, if you NEVER completely quit, if you were smoking 1PAD and smoke say 5 ciggys a day forever, you are still avoiding 75% of the ciggys you'd normally smoke. Come on girl, lighten up! You'll get there or maybe you'll always have one or 2 here or there but it's still better than the alternative right?

(((HUGS)))

Well the real reason I'm so upset with myself is because initially when I started trying to quit last August; and still now a big part of my wanting to quit is because of the smoke free insurance credit my work offers. It will make my insurance cost go from $840 a year to $45 a year! You have to have not smoked or used any tobacco product for 30 days in order to be considered tobacco free. Is there a test they do, and if so does it differentiate between tobacco and nicotene? Would it be unethical of me to claim 'tobacco free'?

Of course if you can make it about 2 weeks on 0 nic juice you should pass with flying colors and then back to your regular juice. The problem could come in if there was ever a major claim and they requested an unexpected test or any type of random test. Sorry for the bad news but as of right now that is the only test they have to use.

LynnLee....cut it out!

How many years did you smoke cigarettes? Since this substance is in many ways more addictive than many illegal drugs, I'm not surprised you're struggling. The famous jazz singer Billie Holiday once said that kicking the big H. (can't type the word on this Forum, it will be redacted) was easy compared to quitting TV and cigarettes. She's right.

Let's not forget that nicotine is a cousin of the coca family.

Analog cigarettes are in many ways easier to use than PV's (I know I'll catch some argument on that point). Sometimes when you get that craving, it's easier to spark the Bic and take in some smoke.

We've all failed. The other night, after not touching analogs for nearly six weeks, I *tried* to smoke one of my wife's Marly Red 100's. Yuck! I couldn't deal with the taste after the first puff, and the first puff was the last. Mrs. Ciego promptly took the analog from my hand and smoked it down to the filter. I don't blame her; she still smokes 5 or 6 stinkies a day, but that's better than a month ago, when she was sucking down 10 per day.

You say it yourself in your signature: Every analog you don't smoke is a victory. Don't be discouraged, my friend.

Okay, this is quoted from the FAQ's on my benefits website:

Q: What is the definition of “tobacco-free?”

“Tobacco-free” means that you do not use tobacco in any form – cigarettes, cigars, pipes, snuff, or chewing tobacco. To be considered a non-tobacco user and eligible for the tobacco-free credit, you must:

not have used any type of tobacco product for a period of 30 days before the date you elect medical/prescription drug coverage (or for a period of 30 days before the date that you apply during the year for the credit) AND
pledge to remain tobacco-free.

Q: Do I need to prove that I don’t use tobacco to receive the credit?

No. The credit is given on the honor system.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Q: I am a smoker. If I quit, will I be eligible for the credit?

Yes, you will be eligible for the credit if you:

Quit at least 30 days before you enroll, or
Quit during 2011 and submit a signed Tobacco Status Change Form.

The nurse at work said using the PV is fine and they don't test. Our nurse is really down to earth. She's been pretty involved with my quitting struggles as she was the one who recommended chantix, and she saw the side effects I went through. I think she's happier that I quit than I am, lol.

wow.. it does sound very positive. If your nurse is that involved that is spectacular. I would go on what she says.. and since it says they don't test.. and they take the honor system, that works even better in your favor. (personally, I think it's a better way to go.. why penalize someone that is trying hard.. ie: YOU.. just for one slip up. They are going to know if you've taken up smoking again. It's not something you can easily hide, no matter how hard we tried to dupe ourselves into believing that.)

I'd say.. wait the 30 required days, and go for it!

.

Here in the great northern woods; you 'd be considered "smoke" free. The attorney general has listed e-liquid as a non tobacco product. You can double check with your state's department of insurance which regulates all insurance company. This way you'll get it straight from the horse's mouth.
