Lynlee,

I am sooo sorry to hear that you lost your job. I remember you writing about your shift changes and sanding right-handed. I lost my job back in Sept. and I can honestly say that I'm GLAD that I don't work there anymore. It sucks being unemployed but it sucks even worse working for people who can't or don't appreciate the people that they have. That time they sent you home from 2nd shift and suddenly put you on the next day's first shift told me what kind of company it was.

Are you able to get unemployment? My job claimed that they fired me but I was able to get unemployment but had to wait a "time out period". The time out can be (in my state) anywhere from 2-12 weeks, then your unemployment kicks in. (( I live in a "right to work" state, so they don't have to give a reason at all.))

I hope you can eventually see this as a blessing. That sounds messed up but I would have stayed with the County job for the rest of my life because I thought it was secure in this economy but the people that I worked with and for were the worst that I've ever dealt with.

I'd rather make 15k a year for people who treat me as a human and tell me that I do a good job, than making 50k for people who treat me like :censored: and are NEVER satisified.

Keep you spirits up. We all love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you Enid, I appreciate the reply. I guess in the end it was that pesky left handedness that did me in. When they flipped my shift it was for me to train to be a finisher.....they don't have any left handed trainers and though they do have other left handed finishers there, they never let me observe them to get the technique down. There are some things that lefties just have to do completely backwards~! My dad had to teach me how to tie my shoes, my mom has tried tons of times to teach me how to crochet. When I use a spiral bound book I turn it upside down and start with the last page; so the spirals are on the right side instead of the left. The parts we work on have standard times of how long they should take us to finish them. They also have very tight specifications we have to stay within down to the thousandth of an inch. It involves a lot of measuring with guages and documenting the measurements (the paperwork for every employee who worked the part from wax pattern to casting to finished product is kept on file for 25 years~! If a plane goes down and it's found it was an error on an employees part the CAN be held liable for any lives lost~!). I could not get the parts finished in the standard times, and when I took my finishing competentcy test I got all of the guaging questions wrong because I had the decimal point in the wrong place. Right numbers, wrong decimal; 1.50 instead of .150 All they said was there's a big difference between an inch and a foot.

The most upsetting to me is that they would not let me move to a different department and there is no option for rehire~! This is where my dad worked before he passed away :(

I made an error when I filed online for unemployment so I have to go to the unemployment office tomorrow. Right now everything is iced over and rainy and my car is stuck in the driveway :s

It can only get better right??

I really love the company ideals overall, but localized where I am the management could definitely stand to be better.
Oh Lynnlee {{hugs}}

Prayers coming that a door will open soon for you.

I too wondered what kind of company would do the shift change thing to you - it wasn't safe.

Yes, yes it does!

I believe that there is a job out there that fits our aptitudes. There's a job out there that you will excell at. A job without decimal points :) A job that will understand that left handed people need to be shown how to operate machinery by..... left handed people.

I know that the economy is bad but believe in yourself. Take a book to the unemployment office, in case there is a wait. Explain your situation fully and demand for yourself what you'd demand for someone else. You're worth it!

If you have any documentation, take a folder. I went in with all my FMLA paperwork and doctor's excuses because other than working for :censored:, that's what did me in.

Good luck. I'm here for ranting and whining. PM here, if you want :)

Well I finally got in at the unemployment office. I vaped in there and nobody said a word~! It's a bit confusing but this is the gist of it:

I'm not currently eligible for unemployment because of the 1.5 rule. They track income in quarters, they go back 3. The rule is whatever your highest quarter of income is, your total income for all 3 quarters needs to be 1.5 times that amount. (If I made $1,000 in a quarter I need to have made $1,500 for all 3). Once they move forward to the new quarter it will reflect my income and I will be able to file after April 1st.

BUT...

Back in September I had gotten a letter about Extended Benefits, which I did not pursue because I was working.....those benefits are STILL available to me and I should be able to file my first claim by the end of next week~! Not sure what I'll be getting, but it has to be better than nothing~!
