I know of a recovering alcoholic who's had the same unopened bottle of scotch in his cupboard for over 50 years. I'm the same way with smokes. I have an unopened carton of them in my fridge. Knowing they're there removes the obsession for me. I, too, made myself smoke one or two daily to avoid the detoxing problem and that's why I have it left over.
