I'm an over-educated guy in his late 30s who had been smoking for just shy of 10 years. I had worked up to half of a pack a day. Addiction knows no bounds, so being really well educated on what smoking was doing to me had little effect. I had previously smoked in college (17?-22?), but had quit cold turkey; at that point, I was only smoking 3 cigarettes a day.

I had seen the e-cig stuff around mall kiosks, at gas stations, and online, but didn't really know anything about it and didn't know anyone who did. I chanced upon a vaper on another forum we both frequent, and he gave me a ton of info and answered all of my questions. I would give him a shout-out, but I don't know his username here.

I started in May, and within two weeks had quit my half a pack a day habit. I was getting sick of smelling like crap, having to constantly wash everything, and having to hide. I work in a world where virtually no one smokes, and my family gave me lots of grief for it. I had quit before, for years, but got started again when my life got too stressful.

I know that there are no proven health claims yet, but as an anecdote, I feel better. I have more energy, can breathe more easily, and of course the side benefit of not having to worry much anymore. I will neither confirm nor deny if I vape in my (private) office or in my home.

On the advice of the guy who got me onto this, I went to sweet-vapes and bought a (recommended) KGO kit and some liquid. I found that I like the 24 mg more than the 18 mg, even though I hadn't smoked that heavily. I was smoking Camel Filters 90% of the time, so... who knows? I really like the clove, although I decided I needed the full double-strength. I liked Desert Ship, but it gave me heartburn/acid indigestion. Butterscotch was too sweet and kind of chemical to my taste. I'm trying Dr. Peppa and Maple right now, and enjoying them both. May try chocolate or coffee next.

I do have a question, but I'll put it in a separate post, since this is just my intro. Thanks all for the great forum! I've been searching and reading it for a couple of months, but now decided to make an account.
