Well, thank you, Carol. I suppose if I keep hanging out here and reading, eventually some of it will stick! LOL!

I've heard the same thing from a couple of different people now, that the plastic tanks are fine for most juices. Until they aren't, I guess. Anyway, we're over a hundred miles from the nearest vape store, so I want to at least TRY to do it right, and the less equipment I wreck, the better. It's not like I can just "run to the vape shop" to replace something. It's a major undertaking to go to town, and quite expensive in terms of gas and time. I know I'm going to make mistakes (already made one this first week), but I'd like to keep them to a minimum.

When I finally do feel like I need to get something better, it will most likely be one of the iSticks, just because they seem to be so highly recommended, but for now, this is just fine for little ol' me. Meaning, it's simple enough to use that even *I* can't screw it up too bad! LOL!

By the way, I don't know if I've mentioned, but I'm one of the three people on the planet that doesn't have a smart phone thing. My phone is plugged into the wall. It has a cord and all it does is let me talk to people. My computer is a desktop with a CRT display. I know, Stone Age stuff, right? But that's what I'm comfortable with. It took me FOREVER before I broke down and decided to use a computer in the first place. Anyway, that's where I'm coming from, in case anyone thinks I'm being difficult. It's not that, it's just that I'm old and don't do well with "gadgets." Silly me!

you are doing great I went from 30 to 40 cigs a day for the past 40 years to none at all since March 1 don't miss them at all. I did smoke some in the beginning I was using 12 mg nic which probably was not strong enough for me but I didn't have this forum. I now make some of my own juice which is very easy and very cheap and I also make a few tiny coils once I got a magnifying glass :) vaping really does work - still amazes me.

On the advice of someone on another forum I belong to (this person and his wife vape), I ordered some Aspire glass tanks for my Kanger EVOD (650 mah) batteries. They fit, but I'm not getting a good draw on them, and there's too much airflow. I put tape over one of the holes, and the draw is better, but there's not much vapor, and it doesn't "satisfy." You know? It's not a strong enough hit for me. I looked at one of the replacement coils I ordered with it, and it says 1.8 ohms and then in parentheses it says (4.2 to 5.0 volts). My battery is 3.7 volts. Is that the problem? My instinct says the coil isn't getting hot enough to burn the juice properly (it's max VG juice, by the way), and I don't know squat about electronics but if something is rated for a minimum of 4.2 volts, my 3.7 volts is never going to be enough, right?

Is there a fix for this besides buying a bigger battery? Or tossing these brand new, very pretty tanks in the trash and looking for something that is more compatible with my batteries? I JUST received a whole bunch of new juice flavors, all or most of them "tank crackers," and it kills me that I can't use them if these glass tanks aren't going to work. And I hate wasting money, that's the worst part. I feel like I wasted the money spent on the new glass tanks.

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do? New coils, maybe, that will burn a little hotter? (I have no clue what I'd be looking for, but I'm thinking that would be my best option, if it will work.)

Thanks,

~Lannie

1: Yes that is the problem.
The coils you got with it are higher powered coils needing a vv/vw power source, not just a standard ego battery.
The solution is to look for coils for that tank that can run at lower power on regular ego battery.

2 things. First it isn't just about cracking a tank. Any juice that is capable of cracking a tank is fully capable of degrading the plastic tank to the point of it seeping into the juice. I wouldn't want to vape the chemicals used to make that tank. So only use glass with tank cracking juice. Second never worry about figuring out how !use a new device. If you want one get it. I promise if you can use a computer you can use a Istick

Thanks, guys. :) I've heard the thing, too, about the plastic degrading, and although the people that tell me they've never had a problem have never had a detectable problem, I'd rather be safe than sorry, so I wanted the glass. And it also seems like it depends which place you look as to whether a particular juice is a tank cracker or not. So I'd just rather have the glass for all of it, and then I won't need to guess or worry about it. I did order spare glass for these as well. Stupid me tripped and fell down the basement stairs a couple of days ago, and if I'd had a glass tank in my hand, it would have been toast. The stairs AND the floor of the basement are both concrete. It was a hard landing. I was lucky not to break anything other than one toe and my coffee cup, but I was VERY lucky. By all rights I should have broken at least my right arm and a bunch of ribs... I'm still gimpy, can't raise my right arm very far, and have the most spectacular black eye you'd ever want to see. So, because my middle name is "Grace" (just kidding, I mean I'm clumsy), I ordered spares.

Right now my scroogy husband is looking for something that HE might like, that will support those pretty Aspire tanks and their lower ohm coils. He's already got his e-pipe (just waiting for his juice now), but he figured it wouldn't hurt to have something a little handier to carry around than the pipe, like going shopping or somewhere in the truck. (What it REALLY is, is he hates the thought that he wasted money on those tanks that I'm not going to use now! LOL!) I told him what you guys have been telling me about the iStick, but he's not quite ready for that style, either, and is looking at higher power, variable voltage batteries of the same style I have (that's called e-Go?). sigh... I'm so totally confused now it's not funny, and I'm no help to him, other than I told him not to spend more than he could afford to lose if it turned out to not work right or he didn't like it or something. We'll see.

My new mini protanks should be here in a few days, and by the time they arrive, maybe all this nice juice will be aged enough to taste good. I'm using some of the strawberry in my current tank, and I LOVE IT, so I can't wait to try the others.

Lannie, vape is an adventure. I had a plastic inexpensive tank crack on me and the first thing I did was replace all my plastic with glass. Everyone has their own path with vape and you'll find yours. If you have any more questions (or your other half) don't be shy, there are many people here who have already walked that walk and are willing to help. Congrats on your journey.

Anything with cinnamon is a cracker. Some citrus and others I don't know because i've only used glass since my first week vaping. I don't like vaping cinnamon anyway and cereal juices neither. I pretty much exclusively vape custards and creams. I do have a peppermint and chocolate one that tastes just like Thin Mints. Anyway good luck and enjoy the journey

Thank you! I'm enjoying it immensely so far!

Oh, and you guys will be very happy to hear that Mr. Scrooge just ordered an iStick 30! LOL! He was looking for something that would have enough oomph to use those other glass tanks with the 1.8 ohm coils in them, and I told him how much everyone recommended them, so he got one. Hell, it was the same price as my set, although there are two in my set. Whatever, anyway, we've got one coming, and I'll try it out, too. You never know, maybe I'll like it! ;)

At 30 watts he'll be able to go all out on a 0.5 ohm coil Atlantis or Subtank - you'll envy him!

I have evod and ego batteries.. I also have much other equipment.. I still carry my evod with an ego battery using a 1.8 coil hand wrapped 4 times over silica and get really great flavor. So I would not get rid of them.. They can be great backups.. I also like the istick 30 and 50, but for small I still like the ego.. Try making your own coils using 32 gauge wire.
I use a large quilting pin and run it inside the silica wick and wrap four wraps around the wicking with the pin in it and not draw it tightly. The flavor is great. I use 50 pg and 50vg .
I also put a glass protank on the battery with that same wick and get a great flavor. Good luck.

I don't think nice lady is looking to get into making her own coils...

Well, now, nice lady MIGHT be into that...I'm not sure, but I'm open to learning how, if it's possible. I was just trying to picture that in my mind. However, the coils on the heads I have must be near to microscopic. I finally had to change out my first head (is atty the right term for the atomizer/coil assembly?) today, so Rich (my hubby) took it so he can dissect it and see how it works. He thinks it would be too small, and probably impossible for people like us to rebuild, and really, the cost of new ones isn't much, but maybe eventually.

I think the heads I'm getting are $1.00 each, and it took me 10 days to use up the one that came with the e-cig, so it's not much to buy them already made, but I don't call Rich "Mr. Scrooge" for nothing. If he can find a cheaper way to do something, then by God he'll do it! LOL!

I presume the battery is a unregulated battery at a nominal 3.7 V, which actually is 4.2 on a fresh charge. So you can see if it's better on the first couple drags on a fresh charge and maybe project they'd be good on a better battery. Generally, Aspire stuff needs a voltage boost (a friend uses one with a 2.1 ohm coil on his Spinner so it's impossible to turn it too high), while old Kanger requires a voltage cut.

The mini iStick is actually less powerful than full Spinner. However, most stick batteries have a weak 510 connector, if your Aspire tanks are 510 (the center thread). If they're eGo thread (the large outer one) you'll need a weak 510 adapter to connect to an iStick and might be better off with a stick type battery with a native eGo. I've heard of people using as high as 17 watts on the Aspire Nautilus. If you got multiples, they probably aren't the Nautilu$. If they're regular Aspires, see if they use the BVC coil. The older ones using BDCs can be replaced with "Replacement BVC" coils for a some improvement.

I've haven't had any luck rebuilding coils for these devices. One person I talked to who used to do that admitted it's very tricky to get right, since most don't use the right kind of wire assemblies. My view is they can very good as-is.

You're right, they're "regular" glassomizer tanks, not the Nautilus. They were $7.99 each. They do have the bottom vertical coil, though.

So the tanks might not fit the iStick 30? Or they will if we get an adapter? (Gosh this is such a learning experience!) I hope they fit right on there, 'cuz we didn't order an adapter. It just said it was 510 threaded, and the tanks are 510 threaded, and I thought they'd match up. The tanks will screw right on to my EVOD battery... for what it's worth.

Now, whether my batteries are regulated or unregulated, I don't know. It said they put out a steady 3.7 volts throughout the life of the charge. And they're right, because it works until it suddenly doesn't. LOL! That's why I like having the backup, because if it quits on me when I'm not expecting it, I have the other one to use while the dead one goes on the charger. As I get more consistent in my habits, I'll probably be able to know about when it's going to run out, and plan accordingly, but right now, sometimes they last all day, and sometimes they run out after about 10 to 12 hours. I guess it depends on how much I'm enjoying my strawberry on a particular day. ;)

I'm only a tootle puffer, but proud of it!

if they put out a constant voltage, then they are regulated
