I think my Ego-T atomizers are flooding, and if so, how can I fix them?

I got an Ego-T starter kit a month ago. All has been going well up until this week. Both atomizers take a much harder draw, and produce a lot less vapor. Today, I noticed juice coming up the mouthpiece of my tanks.

Are my tanks getting worn out and leaking (there is no noticeable leakage if I fill them and hold them upside down and observe them for a few minutes)? Are my atomizers getting flooded (that would explain the hard draw and liquid coming through instead of vapor, to my uninformed mind)?

I've tried soaking them and pushing warm distilled water through them as recommended by another ego-t cleaning thread, and then blowing them out and trying to vape again (couple of un-powered draws to bring juice to the atty, then burn+vape) with no luck.

I'll be going to my mom's Tuesday after work to borrow a pair of hemostats to try pulling the plate and burning the wick material with a lighter, but is that all I should try, or am I heading in the wrong direction?

Have you seen this video? Granted I tried to do this and just ruined one of my attys, but maybe you'll have better luck. :)

Yup, saw that, that's why I'm borrowing hemostats from Mom tomorrow. I picked up some jewelery-making thin needle-nose pliers, and even those were too fat to get the needle-plate out of the atty. Tiny hemostats to the rescue! I hope that's all I need to do :)

The ego batteries are great, the tank system is a nice concept, but the weak link to me is the attys, especially the wicks.
Yes you can try the burning, it could help...or there are threads for adjusting the wicks by gently pushing them up or down in the needle plate. Another thread for building a new wick from scratch, also....
I suggest you consider a few dual coil cartos to use on the batts, in case you tire of fiddling with the tank system...inhaler sells dual coils that work very well on the ego batts...
Good luck. I'll go find the threads and edit them in for ya.

Search for "Simple CJ"... he has a lengthy thread/how-to on re-wicking tanks... it looked like too much hassle for me, so I didn't dive in and try it... I bought a mod and some drip tips... vaped my tank for about a month

:p

Best of luck to you!

EDIT: Can you use a liquid with more VG? Or add VG? Thicker juice can compensate for a leaky wick/tank...

Also, do some searching... I believe there is a little hole in these tank atties that can get clogged and impair the draw... wish I could be more help, but I'm sure if you search for some of the keywords from the problem you're having, you'll get lots of results...

Last, non-heat-treated juice-delivering wicks can get clogged up over time... that may be your problem, in which case it's time to re-wick or clean it out...

Yes, the other thing I have noticed with tank wicks, the darker, thicker liquids...caramels, coffees, etc... Seem to clog things up faster...I never had many problems with my tobaccos, but the wifey was testing darker juices and had wicking issues with several...

This is a true story..

The tank system is a great concept, there are just so many variables and really steep learning curve.

Im not trying to knock the tank, trust me, many of my friends swear by them... just takes some time and practice to know what juice mix/color to use with the tank and how to maintain it... but I've seen people get consistent vapes and lots of satisfaction from them... just gotta do some reading/experimenting!

I tend to avoid the darker juices. I started with tobaccos and coffees, but found that I really enjoy the bananas, key-limes, kiwis, etc. I'll look at your suggestions about dual-coils. As long as it's dual-coil-atty's, I'm ok, but I'm really trying to shy away from cartomizers. They seem too expensive in the long-run. Anything I can refill and maintain on a fair budget is best.

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
I until not long ago was using my egot exclusively. Yes it can be a little finicky but simple enuf. It sound to me like your air hole is plugged. A really strong blow on the atty will sometimes fix. If not you can clean them. Somewhere there are pics of what u need to do dunno where tho. Take a small paperclip or similar and straighten put a small L bend in the end about 1/8 inch will do inside the thread end of atty past the threads is a small hole get the clip into the hole to clean it out. Now for cleaning I know there are lots of ideas I have tried I think most but found isopropyl alcohol worked the best just soak the atty in it for a couple hours the blow out very well. Let atty sit for couple more hours blow again prime it and you should be good to go. Hope that works for you.
Ps. I never had to take an atty apart to clean or mess with one I honestly think most who have didn't just keep it simple using them as they are designed to be used as they do work the way they are.

I think I have a different model (rebranding is confusing) but I had one tank atty that flooded all the time. Half the cart would be back in the atty when I blew it out and put it back together. I think I pushed the needle down a little forcing a cart on at the wrong angle. I just replaced it and moved on after the traditional mourning period for broken electronics.

One thing that happens over time is you get condensation on the connecting plate between the cart and atty. Eventually it gets up into side channels on the mouthpiece and stops you drawing well and it gets in your mouth. I have clear mouth pieces now so I can see it happening. Just need to blow them out. If you clean them with water too, it can sit in there for a while before it evaporates properly.

I still prefer the tanks for being able to cram a bunch of liquid in the thing without fiddling with wadding. So far leaks a ton less too. Used to get liquid on the mouthpiece of my 510 at least a few times a day. Doesn't taste overly nice.

After two months of trying to resolve problems with eGo-t attys my advice is go away from them. I am switching to Echo and eGo cartomizers now. However I developed some technique which allowed me to survive a day or two even with significantly flooded attys. This is not a fix, just a workaround.

1. Assume your atty is not flooded. Keep vaping until you see it is flooded: tight draw, gurgling, pretty hot atty, no flavor, less vapor. At this moment there are a lot of liquid accumulated inside the atty.
2. Swap the cartridge with the black empty mouthpiece which usually comes with each eGo-t. Keep vaping. At this time the atty will vaporize accumulated priorly liquid. At some moment the vaping will be pretty satisfying.
3. As soon as you see the very first feel of the burnt taste swap back empty mouthpiece with the filled cartridge. The atty is dry now. Go to 1.

BTW you don't blow out half of your liquid this way.
