OK, so I have had my ego-t for a week now and I love it but... my first atomizer is clogging bad. Tight draw and not a lot of vapor. I cleaned it like I cleaned my 801 atomizers. Blew a ton of juice out of it and then boiled it for a small amount of time in distilled water and let dry. I am getting more vapor but the draw is still super tight and the taste and draw is not like the new atomizer that I replaced it with. Am I going to have to take this thing apart to deep clean it somehow? If so what is the best method? I like this system a lot but if I have to start buying new atomizers for it every week I am going to have to go back to dripping which is bad for me since I drive for a living. Any help is appreciated.

hard as hell to clean. I have 4 only 1 still sorta works. back to 510s, ego cartomizers and now trying the fluxomizers (blah) and boge cartomizers (coming soon). Gotvapes is building a tank cartomizer jazzed up Clearomizer called vortex. but being an early adopter is a good way to waste a lot of money. still no perfect off the shelf solution.

Nowadays I use this method to clean EGO-T atties. It's a bit tricky and takes some effort though. There's also possibility to break your atty, if you overheat the coil or dismantle the wick.

1. Remove needle plate (check for tutorials for that)
2. Blow excess juice out
3. Run hot tap water through
4. Blow excess water out
5. Dry burn, try to keep the coil orange for ~30s (at first time it will smell burnt)
6. Repeat steps 3-5 once more
7. If the wick is dark, hold it above a flame. The dark gunk will burn and the wick will turn clean white.
8. Adjust/roll the wick with fingers to make it straight
9. Try to assemble the plate back without the wick touching the atty's wall (so the wick remains straight and touches the coil)
10. Insert filled tank and let it wick for a while

After this procedure, it will perform like new! As I said, it's also risky, but I haven't killed an atty yet.

Thanks for the recommendations. I just soaked it for 10 hours or so in alcohol and when I blew it out it seemed to have a little more airflow. I could be tripping. I'm just going to have to let it dry and see what happens. I'll take it apart if I have to. I ordered 2 more but if I continue to have this same problem with them then I'm just going to have to bag the tank system. At least I got some really good batteries that have 510 connections out of the deal.

So here is an update on my tank atty. Boiled it in distilled water: no airflow but there is vapor. Soaked it in alcohol for 24 hrs., let dry for 4 days: vapes like brand new. Just boiled my 2nd atty (it was not having any problems but figured better to clean it before there are any problems) and we'll see how that works. I will update. I am super glad I did not have to rip my first one apart. Still liking the ego... a lot.

I haven't tried removing the plate. I'm afraid I won't be able to get it back in correctly. When you pull it out do you have to thread the wick back through the hole?

This thread might be able to help you http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...875-ego-t-needle-plate-removal-step-step.html

incase you need to replace your wick
http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ego-type-models/169520-simplecjs-ego-t-wick-mod.html

The wick is very delicate, so when you try to take it off the spike, some pieces might have fall apart. I haven't replace any wick yet though, but I have remove the plate to clean more throughly and do a dry burn. But I only remove the plate on the atty that is giving me problems. The working ones, I just clean then in boiled distilled water once a week.

The part of Canada that doesn't get enuf Snow :(
Soak in alcohol for hour or more then run alcohol thru it by just filling tank side of atty let it run out do this till it runs freely. On the battery side there is below the threads a tiny air hole you can use a metal dental pick bent to fit stick it in the hole. Wipe it off blow excess alcohol out and let it sit for an hour or two. A little heat and or blowing air will help I've dried mine in as little as a half hour. It works it's cheap easy and fast. Feel free to pm if you need more explanation. Good luck

An alcohol soak, rinse and dry burn works well enough for me, just remember proper wick height is the most important aspect of the e-Go-T atty.
You can pull the plate out after breaking it loose by twisting it with a flat blade screwdriver inserted into the flat area between the plate and atty wall, then the plate can be pulled out of the atty with your skinny pliers. Just be sure you completely seat it back into the atty when you re-assemble it.
The wick itself has a metal band around the upper end and should not easily fall out of the wick tube. If so, it can be re-inserted into the underside of the plate. The lower the wick in the tube the wetter the burn. I had to adjust the wick height on mine until it worked good with the 50/50 juices I buy.
Dark juices make a gummy mess of the wick and heater, try to stay with clear juices.

I only have 3 atties (2 LR and 1 std). All are still working fine. Like you, I've searched for ways to clean the Ego-T atties and found 2 that worked for me

eGo-T atomizer - after the cleaning
  • Take note of Scottbee's post especially the dry burn part.

Steam cleaning...any thoughts?

Between these 2, my atties are working fine with nice vapor and flavor.
Give 'em a try, it might work for you without surgery required

So the whole dry burn thing freaks me out. At $12-$15 an atty it seems like a risk that I am not yet willing to take. Maybe when I am more experienced I will try but for now as long as my stuff keeps working I am not going that direction.

I also wanted to mention some things that have worked for me over the last 2 weeks.

I was noticing a lack of vapor even though the draw was normal. I have remedied this by holding my button until I hear the liquid boiling inside and then drawing. I have been getting consistent hits this way. :vapor:

Another thing that I recommend from my experience is blowing out the atomizer after every tank. I blow a good amount (surprisingly enough that I am surprised it is not leaking). So far I think that this has helped my second atomizer from getting gunked up and losing it's draw.

The third thing that I have been doing is cleaning my tanks before refilling them. I keep a baggie with me that holds all of my tanks so I only refill at night before I go to bed. I take them apart, rinse them out and use a napkin and dry every nook and cranny of it before I fill them with juice. Maybe I am just overdoing it, I don't know but it keeps me busy and not smoking analogs (which I am still smoking but in drastically smaller amounts).

Thanks for all the tips everyone. Next step for me is mixing my own juice when I have $ to start a kit. Super excited!

This is understandable. I normally first do a 151 vodka soak (I don't do water or isopropyl). It dries very quickly. When more is needed I then dry burn (but only on the regular attys - not the LR - which are more self-cleaning) and then follow with a short vodka bath to wash away the ashes. I do a dry burn by holding for 5 or so seconds and blowing into the atty chamber - not tailpipe blowing, repeating... Also check the tanks for any darker eliquid and either siphon that off with tha paper towel or rinse it in vodka.

Should I use isopropyl alcohol orrrr?? We have had our ego-t's for a little over a month and my hubby thinks his atomizer burnt up some how he said it had a horrible burnt taste to it, we have never "cleaned" them by doing anything more than blowing them out. He uses his a lot so what is the best way to clean? I don't like the idea of a dry burn because I don't want to over do it and then be out that $15 or whatever it cost to replace.

Any suggestions? Preferably something with a quick turn around dry time because he will be leaving Saturday morning so it'll have to be done before then.
