I don't know, but it seems illogical we would be breaking the law by smoking outside a building in any state.

And I hadn't thought about this until just now, but what happens if I do break the law by smoking or vaping in a public place? Let's say I put it out, but the cops are called. Do they issue a summons, ticket, warning, drag me off to jail? Do I have to post bail? What happens?

That's not the case in NJ regarding vaping outside some buildings. You can't. I imagine you'd get a fine.

In Philadelphia, you're not supposed to smoke within 10 feet of a buildings entrance. If you've ever been there, you would see that the entrances are about that far apart, on most streets. In order to smoke legally, you would have to stand in the middle of the street. Needless to say, unless you are right in the doorway, it is not enforced.

I do remember this one bar we would visit. Right next door was one of those hookah bars. The owner of the hookah bar would sit in his chair, right outside of his door and watch to make sure none of the patrons of the actual bar would stand on his 'property' to smoke. Just sit there and watch with his arms folded. Cross the imaginary line.....watch out.

Yea they may think l'm smoking something else

Hah, that just happened to me 2 nights ago. I pulled into a self spray carwash behind an oil change place at 10:30pm to wash my car after the gym. I was doing nothing wrong and see a cop light behind me. I ask why I was being pulled over and he says he'll tell me later, so I give him my info and i ask if i can't be there. He says it's open and I can be there but that I look shady going into the back cause people do drug deals. So he sees my new iTaste SVD on my center console and ask what it is. I tell him my ecig and he tells me it looks like more. I told him I just like my nicotene. He says that it doesn't look like any ecig he's seen before and that the liquid looks like "wax". I was like what's "wax", so he tells me and I laughed at him. I told him it's just nicotene e-liq. Followed that up with I'm asian and a techie, that's what we people's e-cig's look like. He laughed at me and let me go. It's just annoying that I have to be self conscious with this thing when I'm just trying to get my nic on!

But think of it this way, you've just educated an officer. You've made it just a bit easier for those that are following us as they find ecigs. Good job! ;)
