I was in The Boston Beanery yesterday. Try their crab stuffed flounder if you go there - it's delicious.

Anyways, I was happily vaping away and the bartender (not my waitress or the manager) came over to my table. All bars around here are in restaurants. He explained that it's not illegal or anything and he understood that there was no fire or secondhand smoke. It's just that I looked like I was smoking and it was causing the drunk smokers over at the bar to start jonesing for a cigarette and he was getting sick of listening to them rant and complain.

I was more amused than annoyed, I think. I wish I had a pack of disposables to carry around with me and hand out in these situations.

As it is here, any establishment owner/manager can ask you not to vape for whatever reason they want to and he obviously had a reasonable reason. All you can do is ask if it was ok if you could stealth vape and that no one would ever know you were still doing it.

Until e-cigs become part of our everyday life with full public acceptance (never gonna happen) there's really nothing else we can do.

I agree with what Shortstuff116 said. I was at a non smoking bar one time and I asked the bouncer if I could use my ecig. He said yes at first but didn't really know what I was asking, so I used it in front of him and he said..."Well it looks like smoking and I don't want others to think that it's OK to smoke in here, so it would better to go outside."

I understood his reasoning. So I just stealth vaped instead.

I've got a couple of non-smoking places locally where I know the bartenders & they're totally cool with it. Even helped one of them get a 510 for his mom. If I'm somewhere where I'm unsure, I stealth-vape (but not heavily) until I can kind of size things up. I always defer without any question or .....ing if anyone complains, and I've never had trouble.

Last weekend I was visiting Branson MO, and went out to a crowded bar that allowed smoking, so I (and my friend, who just got a 510 on my recommendation) vaped openly all night. Ran out of cards from cignot.com... and I can't tell you how many times I heard "do those things work?".
