Congrats on your new baby and for deciding on a healthier lifestyle for you and your little girl.

I ordered my first e-cigarette with absolutely no intention of quitting smoking, frankly I loved smoking and I didn't necessarily have the desire to quit. I bought a 510 knockoff from HappyVaper and at first I laughed at the idea of it being able to replace cigarettes because it seemed like a novelty more than anything else. A few days went by and I ordered an eGo and got a hold of some e-juice with nicotine. That was Friday May 27th 2011, that day I thought it would be fun to see how long I could last without smoking an actual cigarette and vape whenever I felt a craving. I had my very last smoke at 8:30pm that night and vaped the rest of the evening.

I woke up the next morning and I challenged myself to not smoke with my cup of coffee (to me that was also the best smoke of the day). I vaped through 2 cups of coffee and I felt just fine, no withdrawal symptoms, in fact I felt great and proud of myself. That same Saturday night a few friends came over, and again I challenged myself to not smoke while drinking, people were smoking around me and I did not even feel the urge to light up.

Here I am a month and a few days later and I have not lit up a single time since. There have been maybe one or two times when I felt the urge, but even then it was mostly out of curiosity. I took a few puffs on my eGo and I remembered why smoking pales in comparison to vaping passion fruit flavored e-juice or peach or watermelon or sour apple :)

Today I still go out every so often for a "smoke" break with colleagues at work and I vape as they smoke, my friends still smoke on Friday and Saturday nights around me. It could not bother me any less, in fact I find it amusing seeing them freak out when they're running low on cigs or stand around outside up against the wall trying to avoid the rain.

The best advice I can give you is:
1. Start off with the right equipment - get yourself an eGo or other similar device with a long lasting battery
2. Order as many e-juices as possible from tobacco flavors to fruity flavors with different levels of nicotine - I'm still vaping 24mg but I'm starting to gradually reduce my dosage down to 18mg - but that 24mg juice will take care of a craving real fast.
3. Don't over think it. If you read other stories on this board you'll find that a lot of people had a very similar experience to mine, it just happened.

Good luck and if you need any advice/recommendations this is definitely the right place to ask!

Good thing to think of the children when I was young no one thought about smoking around us. Also the nice thing about e-cigs is that you can have your coffee, vape and relax.

Ok, I smoked for 27 years. Sometimes as much as two packs a day but almost always a pack or a pack and a half. I can't begin to tell you how many times I tried to quit I don't even know just how many. I do know it was back in the 80's when I started trying and trying and trying. Patch, Gum, lozenge, did them several times. Zyban, quit smoking classes, hypnosis, acupuncture and laser therapy. did all those. Cold turkey, cutting back, yep nothing worked. resigned myself into being a hard core smoker and figured I would die with a cigarette in my hand.

Last year, health problems drove me to the Doctor who went searching for lung cancer or secondary cancer in the spine. I stopped for almost two weeks but the next thing I knew I was smoking again.

Then in February my S/O quit smoking cold turkey. To support him I decided I would use an e-cig around him and continue to smoke when I wasn't around him and use the e-cig to satisfy my cravings. After I got my eGo and tried it, my game plan changed. I found I was enjoying it so much I didn't want to smoke the same. Worked so well that when I did have a smoke I found I didn't like the taste and tossed the pack. I had a few days of mild withdrawal but before I knew it I didn't want a cigarette.

Now the funny part. The S/O went back to smoking in May. Cold turkey did him in. So I got him an eGo and he's happy now vaping away.

I'm in my early 40's and smoked for 27 years until early this year when I decided to try e-cigs. My story began when I thought I would be happy with an e-cig that still resembled the real thing. Boy was I wrong, but live and learn. I then bought an eGo T and from that day on (Feb 9th) I haven't touched a real smoke. The smell of a real one even makes me want to hurl now!

After using the eGo T for a month I began dabbling in mods. I now use a reo mini and God willing - a reo grand soon. Its a bottom fed juice mod. I find this one suits my vaping style and needs perfectly so my search for something better has stopped. And I've even found my perfect juice too (backwoods brew malty toffee).

I hope you enjoy your journey into vaping. Once you've established yourself there it keeps getting better and better! And people who vape are great. My reason I think this way is that we are much more open minded to try new things, we don't have to follow the status quo to feel normal, we all agree that the government and such do NOT have our well being in mind when they make up the rules, and we all don't stink like ashtrays anymore. I'm glad I joined this world wide club myself :)

25 years of half-pack a day. Quit when I got an overpriced RN4081 on vacation. Brought it home, finished smoking the cheap US smokes I had, then woke up and started vaping. Haven't looked back. I'm going to have to agree with Gayle that finding your flavor(s) will take a while. I rapidly grew out of the straight tobacco, and now find myself using cuban cigar or whisky tobacco as my ADV. Right now, though, this new pina colada is rockin' my socks. ditto the Dr. Pepper. (and both regular and cherry cola).

I was afraid of ordering one on line so I found a local supplier.I was sure this thing was a scam! I was desperate to try anything having a chest infection that was not responding to a second round of antibiotics. My Dr. said I had to quit! You know not what you ask Dr.!
Got my supper mini and stopped smoking for a day and a half, the batteries were duds and I had to have a few smokes for the rest of the second day. The supplier replaced it free with a 510. The first week I still thought something was missing but it really wasn't that bad. After that I was more than satisfied vaping over smoking.
After 38 years of up to 2 pad ,I never looked back...these things are awesome!
I think it was Jan 22ish/2011 the day of my last stinky stick!
Vape on! Jamieishere

I had been smoking for 22 years.
1 1/2 years ago, I tried an overpriced/under performing e-cig after someone showed me one.
I was completely unsatisfied and returned to smoking (the cartridges actually gave me headaches and they were supposed to be low).
After researching, I found this amazing place called ECF. Haven't had a single analog since 2010.
I bought an eGo :)hubba:) after seeing reviews here and some Canadian juice.
Now I vape my VOLT on the go and drip my eGo at home and I am in heaven:wub:
Still working on the perfect juice, I have a preference to minty menthols but have still not found my all day vape.
So welcome aboard!! and Vape Happy:vapor::vapor:

Congrats on the Baby Girl and on making one of the most important choices in your life.

Was a pack-a-day smoker for 7 years. Saw a beautiful girl at my University vaping on an eGo right in the school. It blew my mind. I researched, creeped this forum, ordered an eGo-T starter set. The day I got it, I vaped non-stop and haven't craved a cigarette since. Been almost two weeks now. Feelin great.

Enjoy your vape!

I smoked for 15 years. last couple of years up to a pack a day. Also have quit a few times on and over over the last few years, but nothing stuck. There always seems a reason to go back. I ordered a mini 510 and an ego with the presumption that I would quit when they arrived. For the first two days I vaped and finished off the pack. Haven't had one since except a few weeks in I had a few puffs off a coworkers. It tasted terrible. This is the first time after not smoking that I found the cigarette offensive. Two puffs was all I could take.

The added reinforcement is the price of analogs! I visit the store with some of my coworkers and in some places it's now $11.75/pack! Wild. It takes a bit at the beginning to deal with the morning routine, coffee and drinking, but I think once you get through one of the moments without issues, it then become normal. I'm only at the two month mark, but I guess it's long enough to establish a new routine. I don't even think about cigarettes in the morning now at all. I found upping the strength in the morning helped to get over the difference.

Good luck!

I was a 15 year smoker - about a pack or so a day ( maybe more maybe less).

Spent a good long while trying to find the right "quit" tools for me. Nothing ever really worked. Gum / Patch / Drugs etc... never had the staying power and always went back. Especially after a beer or two.
My first 510 arrived from Happy Vapor, 2 weeks ago yesterday. I threw out the rest of my smokes about 10 minutes after opening the package. First few days i had to really struggle with the "first thing in the morning outside with the dog" smoke. but after that I haven't had an issue. Loving every minute of the vape.

Bit time thanks to all the people here who had the patience to answer all my questions and steer me down the right path. It's only been 2 weeks but i've never felt better about quitting. probably too early to say i'll never have another analog, but i honestly can't picture it!

have fun with it jamieishere - your going to love it!
