I have been cigarette free for just over 2 weeks now and my eGo-c is not quite as good as I had hoped.
I have tried a decent range of cartos even a dct tank, I do like the tank and some of the lr carts are nice but I just want more than I am getting in the way of vapor production and flavor.
any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.
thank you in advance for your input:vapor:

Hi Aaron,

Well VV's are the growing trend that is for sure. There are plenty of "Lava Tube" like models out there for a significant less cost than the big dogs like ProVari, BUZZ PRO, etc. Personally, I don't go anywhere without my ProVari, it is my go to of go to PV's. Really it will depend on what you want to spend and how high quality you are looking for. Bypassing a lot of the lower end VV's and looking into the Buzz Pro or Provari is probablly your best bet though.

+1 for the Provari. ProVape also provides an eGo adapter if you'd like to transfer their tank/cartridge system.

Are you sure your eGo-C is performing properly though? Though flavor and vapor production are very much (mostly?) a function of the juice you're using, and the eGo-C cartridge system should provide plenty flavor as their is no filler material to interfere.

If you really want to go all out, I'd recommend direct dripping on an HH.357 atomizer with a ProVari; you don't need that high of voltage to get tons of flavor and the vapor production will be great too.

Well what ratio of e-liquid are you using? Nic has a lot to do with throat hit and pg emphasizes both the throat hit and flavor while vg mutes both throat hit and flavor but provides more vapor and is smoother than pg. VV helps to produce more vapor as you can increase the power (watt's really) at which you vape and some flavors vape better at higher watts. I like VV due to the flexibility of them and the added benefit of helping me fine tune my vape.

Depends on what you want to spend, what type, size, etc.

Low end, $50-100 - Lavatube, Madvapes box mod, other small box mods., Selectable voltage eGo, Varivolt
Midrange, $100-150 - Buzzpro, InfinityPro, EvoVV, Kicked SB, Vmax
High end, $150-200+ - Provari, Darwin, Reo, big honkin Russian PV the name of which I can't spell, let alone pronounce.

In about 4 seconds, you will be inundated with recommendations for a Provari. If you have the funds, that's probably the best, accessible choice. If you like the idea of variable watts instead of volts, the Darwin is your guy, if you can find him. If you're really sold on variable watts, the Kicked Silver Bullet actually exists and you can really get one instead of dreaming of the day Darwins are in stock.

+ 1 for Lava Tubes here. Been using one for a little over a month and I only wish I had had one of these the 1st time I dabbled in PV's. As for the issues some raise over low rez carts being difficult to fine tune on this model, I have never found that I "need" one to provide enough vap to be happy. Running a standard dual coil 4mg tank with self oversized feed opening. Took 30 secconds with a drywall screw to open it up enough to allow my 50/50 PG/VG juices to flow evenly.

I use it about once an hour for 7-10 min and find that I can easily go 1.5 - 2 days on a single charge.

If you go with a knock off Lava Tube, you can get two for the price of a single Provari.

Side note, Love the VV so I can dial down the power when I drip and then dial it right back up for tanks.

Provari is definitely the hands down winner in my book. I do use my Ego C and Ego Batts with Boge LR Cartos or the tank system with a lanyard when I am going to Disneyland because it attracts less attention, allows for stealth Vaping and I won't cry if it falls out on a ride. I have not tried the LavaTube but now that I have a couple Provaris I really don't use my other APVs at all. My advice is to save up and get a Provari.

I wouldn't go with the Lavatube because of the limitations of what carto/attys you can use with it. In that price range, I would suggest looking at the selectable EVO. No limitations and a number of postive reviews:

EVO 2.1

For the top of the line, I would go variable wattage - much better way to regulate power, so that would be the Darwin, if you can find them in stock:

I have the provari, and the lava VV mini in black, and the new lava mini stainless steel. I use jonboyusmc lava tanks on them, and i have to tell you, i find myself reaching for the lava VVs more than I do the provari.

I've been very happy with my three notcigs vv. Notcigs was the first production vv, have gone through several generations of refinement.

The price is better than a provari, fully kitted, particularly the notcigs infinity pro. It has rock solid voltage regulation, no sag. It actually has slightly higher max output power than the provari, a bit more useable voltage with the popular dcc, although a slightly narrower voltage range (I haven't heard of that many people who need the 5.5 - 6v zone, and the sub 3.3v range is a shrug to me).

Notcigs durability and customer service are very well known.

The notcigs products use a two battery buck regulator, with many safety features, both electronic and mechanical. Notcigs products are engineered, safety was built in before all the hubbub over batteries. Over current, over temp, reverse battery, three decent size vents placed symmetrically around the tube, over sized tubes (to allow battery swelling), a delrin plastic threaded section on the end cap that acts as a large blowout plug; these features were all in products shipping as of July 2011.

There is no magic safety with single batteries, folks. I've read of imr going thermal in a very popular single battery unit, and seen photos of an imr which had really gone bad in a post here on ECF. How bad something can be is based on total energy available, and one big 18650 has more total energy than the pair of batteries used in any of my notcigs pv. Make sure that any high energy capacity pv has a good combination of electronic and mechanical safety features.

(I just won a beautiful mechanical bottom feeder that uses either one 18650 or two 16340. Actually using the 16340 was not even a consideration to me, I am quite happy vaping in the 8-9w zone, 1.5 ohms at 3.5 - 3.7v. I chose a high capacity protected icr - plenty of current rating for 3.7 ohms with lr atties, and electronics protection in the battery to handle things like short circuits.)
