I want to smoke!

Jen, I also feel your pain in so may ways. I don't know how much it will mean to you because I don't even know you, but I understand exactly what you are going through and I'm proud of you. I've only been vaping for the past 13 days, but if I smoked an analog for every person that asked me why I just didn't quit I'd be smoking a pack a day. My wife was not really all that supportive of the idea of me vaping in the beginning, part of that had to do with the fact that I was trying to hide my smoking from her and the other part was her belief that it was just an addiction switch. She changed her mind after looking at some online material about it, watching some YouTube videos and me explaining that I simply enjoyed smoking. I told her that I have always enjoyed smoking and that the reason I had trouble quiting in the past was that while the regular methods provided me with the chemical my body craved it didn't give me the physical and mental satisfaction that I also craved. Once she understood that I wasn't going to be able to give up the actual habit, but that I could give up the God awful harmful chemicals and prolong my life she was on board and has been very supportive. She's actually even started saying that she is proud of me when she sees me plugging one of my batteries in.

You are doing a good thing for yourself and everyone around you and every hour you go without a cigarette you are doing a good job, so keep it up.

Thank you guys! I KNOW I can do this, for ME!...and my kids since I do want to be there for them for many years. I'm going to take this one day at a time. TODAY I am not going to smoke. I need to work on my f-it attitude when things don't work exactly the way I want them to. Thanks again for the support. I know where to come when I feel like I'm not getting supported at home. :)

Keep up the good work Jen! Your support is here. I catch crap from my boss everyday, he tells me how happy he is that I quit smoking (he is a smoker) but that an e-cig is the gayest thing ever. I just blow a huge plume in his face and tell him where he can kiss it! My wife wasn't supportive either but now has converted and wouldn't give up her 510 with her Boge Bubblegum carto!

Wow, what a tough environment to quit smoking in...

Again, congratulations on kicking the habit! In these forums there is so much written by the veterans about this juice and that juice and this pv and that pv... but it boils down to an alternative to a harmful addiction that most of us share. I'm glad I read your story it brought me back to basics :)

I'm happy that you've found a group of people that are backing you, and it makes me happy that it is having a positive benefit. Good luck, we will be thinking about you. You are not alone!

Welcome, two months here...and have halfway got a couple friends to convert but they keep lagging back to analogs like they dont care. The support group here on ECF is just great. Inspiration is never far away. Stick with it and don't sa F'it;.....to all the doubters....F'em. I feel better, breathe better, sleep better, etc than I ever did on the ol smokies.

I know sort of how you feel. At least my fiance is supportive - it was actually his suggestion. But my 3 sisters all quit cold turkey and I am the only one still dragging something so I feel a bit lame. I don't even want to tell my inlaws about the ecig because I think I would get a polite but not really approving response. I am now the only nicotine addict in the entire extended families of mine and my fiance's.

But I do plan to lower my nicotine addition while enjoying the security blanket of vaping. One benefit of vaping is that you can actually work on lowering your nicotine amount while still having the physical motions and dragging.

Re satisfaction - I think it comes down to a PV that delivers a big enough hit for you (but not too big), a drag you like, and a juice that is both the right nicotine level and has some comfort factor for you. When started to find the right ejuices for me I knew it - they made me mellow and relaxed like I used to feel after I smoked. One was a Turkish tobacco w/ cocoa and some other stuff (BWB Casablanca) and that whiff of cocoa reminded me of my favorite analogs. Another is a Turkish blend (FSUSA Desert Ship) that also clicks with me. Having the right juice for me took vaping from a crave-reducing exercise of breathing and TH, to something more like how I used to feel after a nice analog.

It's different juices for different people, depending on what they smoked or sometimes something related like a coffee juice or just a flavor that hits their spot. For example, I cannot vape fruity foody flavors as my main vape - they leave me feeling like I just ate and craving an analog. Some other people can vape fruity foody juices all the time and be satisfied.

I think your first 2 statements hold the best reasons ever! YOU and YOUR KIDS! You don't have to meet anyone else's approval!
While having a conversation with a guy at my local vape shop that doubles as a coin shop a guy behind me very loudly says "I quit smoking 12 years ago cold turkey and you are just trading one habit for another"! I turned and looked at him and noticed he probably could use a weight watchers membership, a bath and a tooth brush! I resisted the opportunity to tell him as much! (mainly because I don't want to get barred from my vape shop LOL) The point is usually the empty can rattles the most!
You could always let your second head double as your evil twin personality!
Just keep doing what your doing! You are on the right track and Screw Em!

Jen8112 -- continue to vape and ENJOY it because it is a guiltless pleasure.

Nicotine is not killing you. It's the tobacco smoke that does that.

If you were quitting smoking with nicotine patches or gum, would anyone have a problem with that? Nope.

Vaping is a Nicotine Replacement Therapy and works far better than patches or gum.

One suggestion -- increase your nicotine level to 18mg. That is a fairly normal level to start with and will be "satisfying" to you. Later on, reduce nicotine level as you see fit.

I am proud of you for making the switch! I am doing that myself. It's not an easy thing to do, but you are doing it!! Congrats!! Something that might help open up the hubby's eyes is to Google "benefits of nicotine"

I am a firm believer there is a reason people do the things they do.

It's not all evil and it might even help to clue you in as to why giving up smoking has been so difficult. Every thorn has it's rose. You might just find yours.

Happy Research and Happy Vaping!!

So I've been vaping for like 11 days. I love that I don't have to go outside to smoke, I don't reek of cig smoke and not stinking up my car anymore. I'm just not fully satisfied. My husband, who has been trying to get me to quit smoking for 15 years, hasn't been very supportive of my vaping. He hasn't said anything encouraging to me and just said he don't care for me vaping in the house. All of my friends and family just look at me like I have 2 heads and say "why don't you just quit smoking?". I kinda feel like a freak vaping. I haven't even got one "good job" from anyone. I wish I could just stop everything but it's just not that easy for me.

Sounds to me like you are more disappointed in the reaction you are getting as opposed to whether or not you have quit analogs for vaping. Tell us how YOU feel......we'll listen :)
