So, I've been drinking scotch all evening , so please pardon my words.

I just purchased an iAtty from a fellow ECF'r and I'm excited to use it. It should be here within two days!

I am told that I can't just use it on a standard GGTS, so my question is, what are the bare essentials I need in order to use an iAtty on my GGTS, and what is the best setup to get it working on a GGTS.

Also, does anybody know of a website that I can buy the adapters from to get me started?

Thanks so much for the information!

These two items would give you a super start !

Nextel Braided Ceramic Very High Temperature Sleeving
Resistance heating wire, Kanthal A-1 32 awg 75ft | eBay

Though it looks like you can purchase less than 10' of the wick I believe it is a minimum of 10'

dont forget....1/2oz (100') .999 US Fine Silver 30 Gauge Round DS Wire | eBay

and also these are great Sterling Silver, 1 x1mm Crimp Beads Pack of 100, New | eBay

you can use Sterling Silver also I do for now its a little bit cheaper and you can get 20 feet of it shipped for around 10 bucks if I remember right... DS or Dead Soft is real easy to work with but Half Hard HH wire is a little more sturdy but still pliable... hope that helps

and you also need a Digital Multimeter to measure ohms...

All you need is 1 901 to 510 adapter. Remove the adjustable draw cap, screw the GGTS re-threader into the 901 to 510 adapter (maker sure the flat side of the internal pin of the adapter is towards the 510 side or it will short), screw the adapter onto the Iatty, screw the Iatty and adtapter/re-threader into the connector of the catch tank till it is all the way tight, and then put the catch tank back onto the GGTS. You now have air control for your Iatty on you GGTS. Enjoy!

Also, Digital Ciggz or Atlsmoke (among other sites) should have the adapter.

Some have said to use a 510-901 then a 901-510 adapter to extend out so that you can use the air control on the collection tank -- but it didn't work for me, maybe my pin was too short for some reason but the Iatty's placememnt was either too long or too short.....:(

I use a 510/510 Shorty & 510/510 Standard both of which I got from Bruce @ COV...I put an o-ring around the vent holes between the GGTS & iAtty and it works like a dream....

also gives it a nice 1mm gap between the brass cap and the iAtty protecting the finish of both pieces...

You CAN use it on the GGTS, but without the air flow control.

The best way though is to do it as Imeo suggests in his video. You get the 901 rethreader with the GGTS, so I assume you still have it. Buy a 901-510 adapter (I got mine from CoV). Put the rethreader on, put the adapter on that (make sure it's right and you didn't cross thread). Put the collector tank back on, screw on the iAtty (right on to the open CT). It will screw on perfectly and create a seal, now the CR will work.

So it looks like I will have my iAtty in the mail today. I am going to only have the stock wires and the wick. What is the best resource to learn how to make a standard iAtty setup? YouTube videos I have found have been confusing and not very helpful, and most of the drawings I found don't help much either.

I purchased extra wick and Silver NR wire from COV, so I should be good after that. Going to try the SS mesh too.

Thanks for the further help.

I don't know what more I can add -- I thought Imeo's videos were fairly succinct.:)

I found them a bit confusing, the part where he connects the second piece of NR wire and installs the works. It looks like he can measure the resistance before he cuts the length of NR (or Resistance wire, I can't tell) and then attach the second piece and it will maintain the resistance.

I'll admit, I am not the most electrically handy. Even some diagrams would be a huge help. I think it will be easier once the iAtty is in my hand and I can follow along with the video as he goes.

Well, in a nutshell, here's how I see it..........

You cut the two NR wires and the R wire
You connect one NR to the R, carefuly wrapping them together
Find the resistance you want with a mulitmeter, putting one lead on the NR and the other on the R and fold R wire at that location
wrap the other NR wire at that point max, you can re-check the resistance then
insert a needle into wick and carefully wrap the R wire about it so that it will fit in the cup
insert wire/wick in cup making sure all the R wire is inside and not touching itself
wrap one wire around the base of the first piece and trim the NR wire as necessary -- make sure it is tight so as not to obstruct threading up all the way
screw on other piece and do the same with the other end
put wick in grooves with wire and put on inside cap
attach the whole shi-bang to the base
screw on tank and fill
put on top cap and then the o-ring
put on mouthpiece -- viola!!!!:party::toast:

That is because electricity always flows through the path of least resistance. There is a small amount of electricity flowing through the multimeter when it is checking resistance. Therefore when he is moving the probe down the wire till he sees the resistance he wants, he knows that is where he needs to attach the other piece of NR wire. The electricity flows throught the probe at that point and not through the rest of the wire past that point.

This is not a super technical explanation, but I hope it at least helps.
