I ordered a PS Icon v1.1 and received it in the mail today along with a AW 14500 High Drain Battery. I stuck the battery on my charger (Pila IBC 4 Stage) and waited for the light to turn green. Noaloxed the threads first time I unscrewed it. Hooked up a LR cartomizer (that I was just vaping on an eGo), pressed the button ..... and ...... nothin.....

Unscrewed everythin. Checked everything with a Fluke multimeter and got appropriate numbers on everything.

Can't figure out for the life of me why this thing won't fire.

I sent an email off to PS, but it was 7:30pm by the time I sent it out. I'm sure they will respond promptly.

This isn't meant as a burn to PS at all. I'm just really frustrated and was looking forward to using it :(

Turn the little copper screw a 1/2 turn towards loose...

also, my AW High Drains don't work as well as the green tenergy batts they sell.
I usually have to make a small fingernail adjustment with the screw when I switch between the AW and the Tenergy.

It was annoying at first, but now it takes me just a sec.

So I have got my Icon working. Mostly.

It is very finicky about which types of atomizers it will use. SLB seem to work on mine, which is odd considering that many people seem to say they are the ones they have the most trouble with. Joye brand 510 atty's will not work with it. I have tried the LR, normal, and HV versions of the Joye brand. None work. The one LR 306 atty I have did work and so that was the one saving grace.

Boge 510 cartomizers will not work either, in either the 2 or 3 ohm versions.

I did have to adjust the contact post with a washer, in retrospect I am sure that was because I am using AW High Drain batteries in it. No biggie on that one.

I just dont like that that I cant use the Boge 510 cartos.

I was informed by Puresmoker that they could not guarantee compatibility with all brand of atomizers/cartomizers, which is not at all what I asked them nor what I would expect. Boge is a popular brand however, and I was pretty surprised when my Icon would not work with that brand. Puresmoker did offer to have me send them my Icon back along with some of the "offending" cartomizers/atomizers. I am not sure how I feel about that as a "resolution". To the credit of Puresmoker they did at least make that offer, although I really don't think I should have to go that far get it to work with what is arguably the most popular type of 510 cartomizer (Boge brand).

Anyway, I'm not particularly displeased with the end result. But I am not exactly pleased either.

Cheers,

We are more than happy to replace the adapter, especially if its not working with Joye or Boge equipment (we sell both of these) & guarantee compatibility with these. I don't think I have ever seen an adapter of ours not work with Joye equipment. Boge has been shotty in the past, but recently, our shipments from Boge have been spot on and working great.

So, with that said, shoot the adapter back, and if the threads are washed out, or tooling started to turn south during the threading process, we can take care of it for ya. We ask that you send the atomizer as well so we can test & recheck against current stock. Nothing really out of the ordinary there ... :)

I had the same issue with mine when I 1st got it.

I'm sure the icon is a great unit, but I ended up returning mine b/c it was DOA for a refund (minus shipping =( )

on a different note..
I just recently lost my protege v1!! It sucks...I have no idea where its at....I looked everywhere..
it was my 1st and one of my most loved e-cigs too...

The Icon works ok, but I find that for a mechanical unit it is far too sensitive compared to my Screwdriver or even Indulgence.

The contacts have to be kept scrupulously clean and does the adapter well. I was almost ready to return mine because the contact was so poor-and this from day 1.

So I took the unit apart and noticed some gunk on the screw head which made contact with the negative pole of the battery.

It did not come from any juice dripping down the inside of the tube because that was clean. Also it was more like a grease than juice. In the end, I used some contact cleaner on a cloth to get the gunk off. I did not spray it on because I did not want to get any on the switch. That was not enough. I still had to run the head over some steel wool.

Now the unit fires fine. Overall, I would give it a c+/B-. If it were not for the size, I would probably have put it up for sale.
